Hello Oga Ikenna, just bought Nigerian used 406 v6 auto recently. It is showing sport and snow blinking which I suppose its the gear box problem. The owner told me I needed to only change the automatice gearbox and everything will be ok. However I drove the car like that from Lagos to Abuja like that (I must confess 406 v6 is a beast on the road). On coming to Abuja I took the car to a mechanic and he remove the thermostat (NOTE: he removed only the casing not the whole thermostat which I still have with me - can it be fixed or I have to buy the whole thermostat again). I must confess since the thermostat was remove it has been drinking fuel like crazy.

Then just yesterday I started seeing engine diagnostic light/check engine light on the dashboard. I also experience difficult start in the morning or when the engine is cold. I have to crank several times before the engine starts in the morning.

Please Ikenna can you help? I have also spent a lot on this car changing one or two things. And I hope you won't charge me a lot in order to get my 406 back to life when I take it to you.

You have to bring the lion to me for proper diagnosis. And yes, my charges are not cheap. But you still have the option to keep taking it to mechanics that have been abusing the lion or introducing more problems like you & your mechanic have done already (starting with thermostat removal) & end up turning the lion to your nightmare. I am an option to you. What you choose to do with it is up to you.

You ca

Ikenna I seriously want to commend ur expertise and professionalism when it comes to lion repairs and diagnosis. But it doesn't mean u have to chase ur intending customers with words like "my charges are not cheap" I feel u shud rather advise them to come for proper diagnosis, and after that they will be much more willing even to pay more than u have charged. On the other hand if you are having too much customers, you can groom some some graduates without job just like gazuzz so that we can have a copy of ikenna 135 in the west and probably in the east. One love.

I need your candid advice on this. I've got to travel tomorrow with a peugeot 406. Journey is about 440km. Car was very alright until the timing belt cut off which destroyed the valves. After replacement of the parts, the car started sounding like a grinding machine. Kazeem said engine was dead cos the car was emitting white smoke, we opt for new piston rings and the smoking was curbed. Grinding sound can still be heard though it drives smooth. The top cylinder is the culprit said the kazeem, we bought one and mine was better so I'm still using it. I decided to use the car like that until I get to mx to source a new cylinder. What I wanna know is, will the car travel that far (440km). Is it advisable to embark on such journey? Thanks in anticipation for your candid advice
Note: car is a daily driver and have been in use after the rings replacement (a week ago)

Some Valve springs could stay stuck or move badly when pistons and valves meet during timing belt failure on an engine like yours. If the springs were not removed and serviced before reinstalling new valves, engine sound would change to what you are experiencing.

When people choose to buy used valves which probably were straitened, you could get same engine sound.

Since I don't know the full state of your engine, aside the sound, I can't comment on if its safe to do the trip with.

Watch the video I am about to post below, which addressed changing of piston rings you talked about. It may give you some clarity.

Thanks a lot sir. Engine runs smooth apart from that sound. Car was serviced today and tank filled to the brim. I'll get the valves straightened on arrival, if need be they'll be replaced and straightened before use. Thanks once again!

Finally, I embarked on the journey and it was smooth by God's grace. Lion will be dropped for the meantime before engine replacement. I'm considering doing an upgrade from the stock 2.0 i4 to a v6 similar to yours (if it's advisable). A korean SUV will be the daily driver for now. Though car started emitting white smoke halfway through the journey.

I am yet to see a vehicle manufacturer that produce or use automatic transmission that is more durable, has low maintenance & replacement cost than manual gearbox. Why expect it differently when it comes to Peugeot?

Hope that answers your question.

Recently, someone contacted me on WhatsApp from Nairaland in search of Peugeot 207 engine thermostat housing (removed probably from VTi engine). If you can read this, send me the Lion's VIN on WhatsApp, to confirm if the part number i have now for sale is the same with yours, if you are still looking for it.

As for those busy with defining who they think I am to others to feel good about themselves, let me help you out, for free.

I am very prideful, very proud and very selfish being, you probably haven't come across. I don't give a rip about anyone's opinion, perspective or definition of me. I don't do Religion, so peoples Religious principles are meaningless to me. I am not people pleaser or sucker, neither am I a female apologist. I don't conform to society expectations or norms.

The only thing that matters to me is my happiness and I live the hell however I want to be happy. So, if you are expecting me to do, behave or say what makes you happy, then you will likely be unhappy for the rest of your life if you hang around me with that limited want or belief. I would rather love someone or people from a distance than suck up to them, just to be close, living someone else life.

Right now, I am sitting on one of my Lions boot, chewing some suya with a bottle of Guinness stout, appreciating the reason for coming to this Earth in this physical time. I am that good at what I do: Enjoying life!

I am Ikenna. I am Lion King. I am Ikenna351. And I am good with Peugeots and flow effortlessly on them. So, you have two choices: Dislike me or love me.

Ikenna.

The funny thing about your gynocentric post is that I don't vibrate in your frequency anymore. So, yes, l love my attitude with every fibre of my being and will remain so even when I leave this physical body. I don't exist in this physical time space reality in this body to please you or give rip about your feelings. Your feelings is your responsibility and so expecting me to behave in certain ways to make you feel better means you have to wait till I leave this body and ask my corpse if it can take care of your feelings. How you see me is a reflection of how you define yourself.

A clean tokunbo Peugeot 406 of 2004 model cost about 2m -2.7 million, depending on engine and factory driving position. A clean Nigerian used model cost about 1m - 1.7m. There are cheaper Nigerian used ones, but mostly abused (very few are non-abused).

I really wouldn't advice you to throw your money on a Nigerian used car tbh. And the signs are already there with the fan belt making a weird sound, accompanied with the faulty power steering, it would be better if you stayed off it and continue with your search.

I eventually picked up the car and I have been driving it for 2 days but its relatively okay.i plan to do a scan and fix the issues.the only challenge is that it stalls once in a while, the car would be on but would not accelerate until I switch off and restart it.i guess that's the fallout of the depollution issue which I should sort out on Tuesday.its an 08 model so it was hard to resist.it also has the PRND sign but ave seen with Peugeot the slightest fuse issue throws up big warnings..guess am coming round to being a Lion myself... cool

Hello guys, please I need help with my peaugot 407. I just got it (Nigerian used) , the engines shakes when I start it in the morning. It started lightly, now it has worsened.

I was able to drive it from Abuja to Lagos, back in Abuja, the mechanic said it was the coil but the mechanic in Lagos are saying plugs, loose hose and some other stuff I don't understand. The condition has worsened now, the car won't fire when I want to move at first.

Please what could be wrong, and where in Lagos can I find a good Peugeot mechanic..

You need to run scan on that car. You need to look for someone with Peugeot Scanner or Delph.
