Why Does Ibadan Have Alot Of Beggars And Mad People?A Cry For Help(photos) by hornyofife: 2:30pm On Dec 22, 2017
I visited Ibadan recently and decided to drive round ibadan and my genuine finding is that ibadan is big, but one thing for sure is that the main Ibadan which is the habitable parts of ibadan(old and new bodija,Jericho,Oluyole, GRA, parts of Alalubosa, parts of ojoor, parts of dugbe, parts of Alesheloye, parts of challenge etc just to mention a few) are just a fraction of the whole of ibadan...hence i want to assume that ibadan is not as big as being projected except you add all the slums and decayed part which makes up over 90% of Ibadan...
Again the governor have done well with roads, by connecting and expanding the road linking the major parts of ibadan. Hence there is ease of movement and interconnectivity. But still the environment is dirty and the majority of the people are still uneducated and local..you will easily find people who can't even communicate in broken english.

One other thing I also noticed is the embarrassingly growing number of indigenous beggars and mad people..especially driving down from toll gate when coming from Lagos, through Iwo road down to Akobor. Iwo road is worse. Again at Ojoor, challenge and few other places that i cant remember their names. You will see mad people and beggars littered on the streets and at short distance.

I packed my car to buy gas at one of the gas stations around Iwo road, could you believe that just within 10mins, I had counted over 15 different beggars..from able bodied adults(men and women) to children to old women(which make you wonder where their children are).

Coming in different ways. Some pretend to be deaf and dumb, some pretend to be blind, the most irritating is seeing strong abled men and women who are capable of per minute labour begging and small children who are supposed to be in school....

I really cried for these people...i Wonder if this is the sophisticated lagacy Pa Awo left behind? If not how come their society has degenerated this low? Or could it be the fault of the present politicians who have jettisioned Pa Awo's legacy? Or is it the indigenous people's laziness?

Who do we blame...?

To be honest. This is a serious issues and a very embarrassing one at that..

I wonder why afonjas don't bother themselves with issues like these the way igbos are always concerned about their problems...

All they do is to be poke nosing into Igbo matter like their life depend on issues surrounding Igbo...

Once a thread has igbo, igbo name, Southeast, Biafra or Nnamdi KANU on it, you see them mastibating while ignoring their own genuine societal problems

You think Ibadan is uncivilized??
My brother try Ekiti, osun villages, you will realize that these people hate their villages. If I decide to take pictures on any if my trips next year I will expose a lot about their villages Its an eye sore. Dilapidated buildings everywhere. Houses with wooden windows and storey buildings with parts falling apart. And when you think sane person can't just take that risk, then you see shadows of humans in the dark hallways.

Our women can't do that in ibadan the most developed sophisticated city in the world where houses don't have toliets...they only sell ugwu in villages like Lagos..

This lack of water system is a big issue. They take poo serious but not how proper it should be done. This people are just wicked! I went for a wedding in Ekiti, one of my former colleagues, I almost cried when I was asked to use the toilet at the back of the house. How can someone who was as at 2009 earning 180k can't build a modern toilet in his father's house?

Had to manage it,but mehn, my whole day was simply messed up. I don't like dirty toilets.

Sorry...na latrine sef. cry

Apart from Lagos and some industrialized part of Ogun, their land is not worth celebrating. There's no difference between them and kogi state another useless place.Edo state is way better than osun, ekiti,on do put together. Edo people are natural builders. They mould their blocks themselves to erect simple ,yet beautiful houses. But many Yoruba still leave in their great grand father's house erected since 1704.

Yes. Only few Yoruba people eat it. Why do your women sell egusi and ugwu all over south west; the poorest in the country? Why do we have so many ibos all over south west? Something must be wrong

When most of them grew up like this living and sharing food plates with goats, why Wont there be begging and skull mining in a bid to change their condition? Which has led to high number of mad people roaming the streets..many of whom were normal until their destinies were stolen by their lazy neighbour or family member who is desperate to look and have bighead like "Omo Ibo" aka Flat head grin

We are wanderers, you just have to deal with that.We shall continue to be "parasites " until there is restructuring or outright separation. As we travel for the Yuletide, expect even more igbos because we shall bring more of our kind to take more opportunities your lazy folks are refusing to usurp.

Be a good Nigerian, welcome us.
