Statsocial:Ur problem is this, u have been following a tradition for long and someone comes from no where and tells u to change, its quite difficult to accept d new rule. God have used murderers, mad men and sinners to teach in d past so it's not a new thing, even Paul killed Christians. At this point even if Jesus comes down and tell u not to tithe u won't listen. I am not asking u to stop paying tithe, it's just 10% no biggie, but for those pastors that knows the truth and understand the teaching Jesus gave us but insist on defrauding people i ll let God judge them. |

Eke40seven:Every Scripture in the bible is talking to christians. So stop the self deceit 2 peter 1:20-21 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Tim 3:16 All scripture( whether in the old or new testament) is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime(paul refering to the scriptures in the old testament) were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope Are you so ignorant to understand the above verse.... you are funny try to deceive yourself that the tithing scripture is not applicable to modern day Christians and believers. Big fat lie from the pit of hell. If the Apostles or Jesus receive tithe.. we are not told that they did..but how can we know if they did...by taking a cue from Heb 7:8.. Paul, the chiefest of the Apostles validating tithing...Heb 7:8 it stated clearly that "And here men(God ordained servants of God) that die receive tithes; but there he( the resurrected Jesus Christ) receiveth them(your tithe you pay in church), of whom it is witnessed that he liveth". The levite is a priesthood office God commanded the tithe to be brought to. Who is a priest. Remember..Abraham paid tithe to Melchisedeck..who is a high priest of the most high God. Now who are the modern day priest? They the men of God called into the the 5 fold ministry offices of Pastors, Prophet, Teachers, Evangelist and Apostles. Who are the modern day priest? From Mal 2:7..we see a priest as also defined as a man who carries the knowledge of God to feed God's people with, Which in modern day Christianity are Pastors, Teachers, Apostle and prophets who teach the God's word to the people of God in church as directed by God now comparing that with Jer 3:15. We see pastors are asked to feed the people of God with the knowledge of God. So priest are pastors also. So trying to confuse yourself on who are the priest or Levite and who is not can't achieve anything. Remember Jesus is the high priest presently sitted on the right hand of God -Heb 4:15.That is why paul said in Heb 7:8when tithes are brought to the men that die( the priest) receive them, in heaven also Jesus.(the high priest himself) also receives them. Jesus Speaking on tithing validating it in Matt 23:23(NLT) What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law--justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. Untill you are able to bring scriptures instructing tithing as not to be done as contrary to what is in the scriptures. You are yarning garbage.Tithing is commanded of God and should be done by a christisn though not by force but its important to enjoy certain blessings associated with tithing as stated by God himself in Mal 3:14-15. Let me give you my spiritual experience of tithing. When I lived in France during my Masters studies. I was on scholarship. I receive my monthly allowance in Euros. But then as a Winner member. I worshiped online. Then i will pay the tithe of my allowance by converting the Euros to Pounds bècause it seems convenient and I paid the equivalent of my tithe in Pounds as at that time. My elder sis dreamt one day and said she saw an angel come and take some money from my hand and ascended to heaven but the money was in pounds and she was suprised that how come, that i dont spend pounds here in France, how come there were pounds in my hand. Later when i returned back to 9ja.. my sister and I got talking and told me the vision and I told her i pay my tithe in pounds so she understood why the angel took pounds from my hand. Then it dawn on me oh my tithe that i pay in church is also recorded by heaven as shown in Heb 7:8. That experience encourage me to continue tithing and i am not likely to stop forever. I will not go back and forth with you on this tithing matter. I believe in tithing and will continue. If you dont. No wahala. It is well. |

bezimo:But you have not quoted one in the new testaments nor any new testament practice that supports tithing. Answer this question: Did Jesus receive tithes? Did peter and any of the disciples receive tithes The Paul you quoted hammered on the only acceptable type of giving but you won't talk about it.. did he receive tithes? If these people that gave the guideline for Christianity didn't then why do you modern Pentecostal Christians? Just answer the questions above: Then meditate on the following. 2. The most well known passage on tithing comes from the Old Testament book of Malachi 3:7-10. This Scripture has given rise to the practice of “Storehouse Tithing.” Simply stated, the congregation is exhorted from the pulpit to channel all of their Christian giving through the local church (storehouse). If they wish to give to a Christian organization, radio or television broadcast, etc., it must go through their denominational machinery in order for the local church to get “credit.” Also the pastor and elders often must make the determination if the cause supported by the giver is “worthy.” |

Statsocial:No, Mr "Christian", the authority of a church lies with Christ Jesus and his Word. It is not what members say; it is what Christ Jesus and God his Father say that matters, except if your gathering is not to and for God. And God the Father chose levites to collect tithe because levites don't have any property or earthly belongings. Or are you saying the words of your church members and that of your pastors now supersede that of God in your church? |

ivolt:The five loaves of bread and two fishes that the boy gave to be multiplied actually should have been invested by the boy to his stomach na. The alabaster box that prostitute broke on Jesus should have been sold and invested na. That woman that cooked her last meal and gave to Elijah, should have invested it Abi. This thing about giving to the ministry is a spiritual things and can only be understood by spiritually minded people. The mistake you and other Christians make is that you don't know how to give, why you give and the essence of giving. We give not because we want blessings. We are blessed already. We give because we love God and He owns all of us. |
