realpoacher: You're the real enemy of the team since youre happy and satisfied with the situation most of our reliable players find themselves. You claim to be a fan of the team but it doesnt agitate your mind that our attacking players have managed to score just 6 goals collectively in the first half of a season preceding the world cup. Sometimes I wonder what have happened to the African youth. Why is the African youth incapable of questioning the status quo? This is the reason the older older generation believe the youths are not ready to take over. Is it so hard to look at international best practices and demand same for your your country? This impoverished thought as exhibited by this writer is the reason why the world view Africans as people with relatively lower IQ than the rest of the world . 5 Likes 1 Share |

I think as we are now... We should hope against d possibility of dem remaining bench warmers till d mundial.. Cos benching d benchwarmers in d current SE team will b impossible... Cos we dnt have better players to fill their roles... Truth b told.. And no ryt thinking coach will overhaul a team Dats performing so well cos some of d members aren't regulars... 7 Likes |

goldfish80: Even encyclopedia cannot give you the answers to your question in the last paragraph. Italy were not underdogs But they were not among the pre-tournament favorites. Nobody is saying we are going to win the WC. And nothing wrong if some set a semi final target for us. Of course you know you set targets that are slightly above your reach but such that with hard work you can reach it. We cannot be going into this world cup and be setting a 2nd round or q/final target. Something others have achieved a long time ago. If we set a semifinal target and end up in the quarters good. We go with that and aim higher next time. Please don't write this team off because some of the players play in less competitive leagues and some in the top leagues don't see playing time. In my years of followership of the WC I have seen where teams that were written off emerge very strongly and teams loaded with world class players crumble. 6 Likes |

tbaba1234: Kelechi actually lost his starting position in the team to Ighalo after the loss to to South Africa. Odion would have started that friendly if he was fit . By the way, Kelechi started that game in Algiers, why haven't anyone mentioned how poor he was on the night? I have been screaming my head off about Mancity's under development of Kelechi, even when his numbers were good. I saw through his performance. Not everyone understood what I was pointing at till last season and this current season. Converting him to a striker was the worst thing to happen to his career. Even if he was to make the conversion, it shouldn't have been this early in his career. |

goldfish80: Manchester City's under development of Kelechi Iheanacho. Ye! We are talking of a boy who became a key player of the Super Eagles in a short time working under Manchester City. Haaaaa. Manchester City is competitive. Finish. Even a talented and experienced Nolito could not keep up with Sane. Manchester City is the best thing that has happened to Iheanacho so far. |

Lucque: Funny post, but makes so much sense. Nobody is pleased that Musa and Iheanacho are not seeing games in their club. In fact we will all be happy if they start playing again. However, you cannot throw them out of the team when you don't have players that are better of. Drop Iheanacho and invite who? Some people come here to make comments like "we need to drop Balogun, he is too slow", " We need to drop Omeruo, he is too error prone", " We need to invite 2 additional AMs as back up for Mikel", " drop Iheanacho and Musa", blablabla. Ask them to name one credible replacement or recommendations for those positions dem no go say anything tangible. We are Nigeria and we have standards. We know what we want and how to achieve it. This is the national team where if you are deficient in a particular department u cannot go and buy players. If na to buy players even me I go join contribute money to the NFF make we go buy keeper just for this WC. We all want the best for the nation. No need running this team down. Almost every team has one problem or the other to worry about. No team is perfect. 10 Likes |

"Iheanachor's tactical improvement in a short time under Guardiola is impressive & I am liking it!" Oliseh tweeted. Yet someone wants us to believe Under development. Na wa. Iheanacho was up against Gabriel Jesus a player Guardiola describes at the best in putting pressure on the opposing side he has ever seen and Aguero, the best ever hitman in City. That is all. Nothing like under development. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 8:42am On Dec 27, 2017 |
Guardiola saw what he wanted in a young Gabriel Jesus. Even Aguero is suffering because of the young man's arrival. I wanted Nacho to stay because I expected Guardiola to keep on drilling Nacho to improve in other areas than what he excelled in. Not that Iheanacho was poor or not playing well. Just like Guardiola will keep working on Gabriel Jesus finishing, the defensive and pressing side of his game is more important to Guardiola. Look at an early excerpt of Iheanacho under Guardiola. Iheanacho scored one and contributed an assist as Manchester City beat Manchester United in Saturday’s derby, and his stats highlight just how effective he is in front of goal. His showing in the derby was Iheanacho’s first start of the season, having previously featured as a substitute against Sunderland and Stoke City, while his pressuring of Donald Love helped the Citizens take the lead against the Black Cats in Guardiola’s first match, and he also contributed an assist for Nolito in the demolition of Stoke. He is already City’s joint-top assists contributor this season, has averaged 1.3 key passes per match and looks set to play a key role in coming matches following Aguero’s three-match ban for violent conduct. http://.com/oliseh-lauds-guardiola-for-iheanacho-s-improvement Now people want us to drop the few quality players we have because of ill treatment of the players. I beg you. Allow the young men to keep working hard. As long as they work hard, a time will come that it will be hard to ignore them. 2 Likes 1 Share |

goldfish80: Not short term or long term. Nacho was up against two quality players. He is up against Jamie Vardy who is a respected hitman. Okazaki is good also. Mahrez and Gray are all good players. Give the young man time. The under development talk is not true. 1 Like |

edi287:he isn't worried about him. He wants him to drop so that he can gloat about how much better Kayode or Martins is compared to Iheanacho He has an obvious pattern. Even when Kelechi isn't mentioned, he likes to drag him into arguments to make his preferred forwards look better. Do not assume that everyone on this thread wants the best for our players, there are some secretly hoping certain players will fail just so they can gloat 3 Likes |

See, I don't even care of we crash out at the group stage. The fact remains that for the first time since after Westerhoff we are having a coach that understands the elements of team building. And the NFF should try and keep Rohr as we build up for the 2022 WC. The transformation in the team Rohr has achieved within his short spell thus far is very remarkable. So let nobody come here and start shouting "we said it, we said it". It doesn't hold water because we are even the least seeded team in that group. I have already made a comparison of this team with that of the 90s and how this team falls short. But that does not stop me from expecting a good outing for the boys. 5 Likes |

If we win and played badly, then I will pick holes to avoid such mistakes in a competitive match. However, I didn't see what Iheanacho played in that friendly save for the free kick after watching the match 4 times. |

Icon4s: If you've been monitoring my comments, you will know I stand up for players in less fancied leagues. Jobie once said I liked mediocrity probably because I argue in favour of the less fancied league players. I have had strong arguments with tbaba1234 about my stance on the so called backwater leagues. I prefer a guy in China or Turkey than a regional league or U23 league player. Musa and Kelechi need serious kick on their backside. They must be made to understand they have to earn their place in the team. They are too diplomatic with Leicester city for my liking. Kelechi and Musa should be leaking to the press their desire for more playing time. Their agents should be leaking stories to the press to force Leicester city's hand. Taking match rusty players to a fierce group of death like we find ourselves is a cause for serious worry. It's like 100 metres in the Olympics, you cant expect a guy clocking 15 seconds,6 months to the games to medal. Tbes guys need to start playing . Match rusty players, playing as a team will never do well in a global event. |

junnyjake: NFF are only deceiving themselves. This Josh Onomah is the Only player in England I rate highly than both Ademola Lookman and Dominic Solanke but they are busy chasing winds. Sheyi Ojo is another monster we have to get. These two players are ready to play for our father's land nau nau but NFF will not take advantage now that we are going to the WC. Just allow them come to the camp and play in one of those our next friendlies, it will make them feel they belong here. If they perform well good and if not good. But NFF is waiting until they become superstars for Tottenham and Liverpool before they star chasing them. |
