TheGoodJoe:Not as a permanent forward but a false 9....a role central midfielders easily adapt to....fabregas for Spain, hazard for chelsea atimes and even nacho against Argentina.. ..dey are already used to lots of intelligent off -d-ball movements and easily adapt.....nacho was too natural and sleek as a central midfielder to be made an outright striker....guardiola was expecting a natural striker and was obviously not thrilled with nacho hence he quickly settled for Jesus....i am waiting for Phil Foden to be converted to a striker by man city! |

goldfish80:The position he played most does not change the fact he can play multiple roles. My problem is with bias critics saying Iheanacho can not play as a striker. It is a blatant lie. Another is that ten is a natural role. In today's game, it is not like that. Sterling has played on the left, right, behind the striker and as a top striker. Where he plays regularly does not mean he can not play other places. Finito. |

eazyjakes:I wonder where you people get this Guardiola was not impressed. He wanted more. There are things he wants to suit his system. There are players who have it naturally. Silva, De Bruyne, Fernandinho. There are some who need to learn it. Guardiola wanted more. Guardiola mostly plays a false nine formation. Whether Aguero, Gabriel Jesus, Iheanacho or Sterling. Even De Bruyne has gotten a shot. This is because he likes his strikers contributing to build up plays and defending, just like he likes his keepers building plays. Guardiola said Gabriel Jesus is the best he has ever seen. Quite a compliment from Pep. Nacho had to work hard to adapt to it. That does not mean Pep was disappointed. Pep said what he admired most about Otamendi was his willingness to learn. Otamendi is willing to make a mistake and try again. Today, he is phenomenal. By the way, Pep has played Phil Foden as a left back. |

TheGoodJoe:Coach of Manchester City Pep Guardiola is hoping out of favour Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho will leave the club permanently in the summer as opposed to the option of leaving on loan. Iheanacho has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, but his impressive statistics in front of goal has made him a top target for most teams in Europe. German clubs Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund have sounded out his representatives while West Ham and Everton have also inquired from his representative if he will be willing to join them this summer. Any deal for Iheanacho will most likely be a deal that involves the 20 year old leaving the club permanently with Guardiola needing the cash to fund some of his top target this summer, without necessarily dragging the club into problems with UEFA Financial Fair Play Rules. http://leadership.ng/2017/05/21/guardiola-wants-iheanacho-sold/ This is something. |

goldfish80:Mikel Obi suffered worse. Even had memes mocking him and some had chants mocking him. A nickname calling him SlowBi. That did not change the fact he was quality or stopped him from achieving greatness. |

forgiveness:Spilling rumor Mills as fact. Can you show me a quote of Guardiola saying he wanted Iheanacho out? Do you know how unlimited in depth is the money of City to sell Iheanacho to buy player. What kind of ridiculous talk is that. We had the chance of buying De Bruyne at a Cheaper price but we could not wait and sealed him for a very expensive price. Bia, take your time. |

TheGoodJoe:D issue is not being a critic of his adaptive nature bt playing to his strengths.....players av defined roles based on dia strengths whilst d coach rotate diz roles to make d team unpredictable, an art Giardiola is a master at but Nacho was mostly played as an outright striker.....raheem sterling can swap all d roles but his strength is his speed same wit sane so dey cut in from d wings......aguero also cud track back but his ultimate role is a center forward! |

TheGoodJoe:Thanks for d info @ Phil Foden but he had beta not make it a permanent role for him or fòotball will lose a pure genius....its not every footballer u tweak dia roles! |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:50pm On Dec 27, 2017 |
eazyjakes:When you have Sane, Nolito, Sterling, Navas, De Bruyne, Silva, Gundogan, the battle for other roles is difficult due to the mounting competition. There was less competition for the striking role, that was why Nacho got chances there and he did not fail. Guardiola wanted more and found it in Gabriel Jesus. It is the system. It is a tough one and needs time to master. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:55pm On Dec 27, 2017 |
eazyjakes:Keep in mind that it is a creative and offensive system that gives players the chance to show their creativity. In the Carabao Cup game against Leicester City, Zinchenko who plays as an attacking midfielder played the left back role and won the man of the match. Showed a lot of the young man's promise. The system brings quality in the players even in unfamiliar roles. I think the most challenging position in the system is even the center forward role. |

TheGoodJoe:Yeah...its generic even in other sphere of life....an unfamiliar job role will challenge u and bring out d versatility in u but u still don't lose sight of ur key strengths....more like d swot analysis theory.....i wish d young man all d best and hope we kip churning out great talents from our age grade competitions to reduce d weight of expectations from him! |

TheGoodJoe:Functioning in multiple roles is the hallmark of a great player but Kelechi was made to play in a rigid front role. His game which brought him to limelight was about creativity, shot accuracy, soft skills and intelligence. CIty concentrated on his shooting because they needed results. The other aspect of his were left under developed. This is why we have a player who don't have a defined role. He's neither a striker, not a midfielder, nor a winger. MAN city coached many things out of him in desperation for points. |

goldfish80:That is your opinion. Not a fact. You were not on the training pitch with them to know coaching out. Just as your under development talk. The fact is that Pellegrini knows more about coaching and grooming a player than you. Under him, Iheanacho broke into the Super Eagles. Iheanacho became a known player. Your preference is not a benchmark for developing players over the ideas of one of the Masters of the game. |

goldfish80:Very correct.....one of d reason I differ with d Goodjoe's opinion dat city was d best ting to happen to Nacho as dey literally coached him to suit dia purpose....Bony was underperforming and Dzeko's style did not seem to suit pellegrini's style of play hence they resorted to convert nacho to an outright striker based on his finishing ability! |

TheGoodJoe:I don't have to be there on the training pitch. We saw him every match day. We saw a guy who cannot outpace his markers, struggles to beat his man, poor first touch, poor with his back to goal, lack of aerial dominance, constantly isolated, poor footwork.... I can go on. Some of us have the nerves to question the status quo. Pelegrin's opinion is not bible. |

goldfish80:I agree he could get him a starting berth with at least 10 championship clubs. But it's not going to be easy, he is going to have to adapt and work very very hard. And they will expect results almost immediately. KC has played quite a lot of games for the U23's at Leicester how many goals has he scored Is he the top goal scorer in Leicester U23 and or in the U23 league So it will be a big test. |
