Hello House, I applied for admission into University of Manitoba for M. A programme in General linguistics with a Cgpa of 4.18 and equally applied in Memorial University Newfoundland and Labrador for same Course. My question is what are my chances of getting admitted into any of the two Institutions or should I better still apply in One more institution and wait for the School response. Thanks.
House please help me ooo, Am new to the forum and I really want to Secure admission.

Which university did you end up applying to. I already checked the fees out.its ridiculously expensive. I was talking to my brother and he suggested I apply for permanent residency cos the fees are cheaper that way. Since I'm applying for September batch, he says I still have time to process it. What do you think?

I did not apply to any university at the end of the day. i just go for pgd. You can also check out university of ontario institute of technology. They offer a masters program in Information Technology security.

Yes. The fees are cheaper for permanent residency. Whatever you do make sure you do it early because there may be delays or something. I don't know anything the process of getting permanent residency. you can ask others members of the group

Submit the bank statement you have and explain the sources of your parent's income. Perhaps they are business people dealing in various goods and services. VOs understand the downside of African economy where not everything comes from full time documented employment. As far you explain to them that your parents are not employed in the traditional way, but are business people who wheel and deal in goods or services, you will be fine. No one rule fits all. Submit only what you have and give full explanation. It's like people who are paid in cash only at their work and have no matching bank statement to show where the paid income is paid into. Should you loose any sleep over it? No! Just submit the payslip where it says you are paid in cash and give explanation that that it is the modus operandi of the business to pay in cash. That is all. Submit any CAC certificate of that business and letter of employment and the bank statement of whoever is sponsoring you. Support that with an inspirational SOP of your plans in Canada, why you are not studying your program in Nigeria and decided to go the difficult and expensive way of going to Canada. And give a concrete plan or agenda of what you intend to do with your education after you return back to Nigeria. You should be fine with this.

thanks

You can apply to just one university and get admission. Alternatively, you can apply to 3 and still get rejected in all 3. You have a good GPA, as far as you put in good application, no need to worry. However, no one here is in admission board and therefore don't know your chances of getting admission. But for your peace of mind and to increase your chances, go ahead and apply to the 3rd school.

Good luck

For you to get offer depends on 4 factors:

1. Transcript and Test Scores
2. SOP
3. Resume
4. Letter of Reference

From the look of things, you have already conquered number 1 with a CGPA of 4.18. Nobody here is part of the admission board. We also dont know what you wrote in you SOP, Resume and Letter of Reference.

When did you apply to MUN? If it is more than 2 months, I'd advise you apply to one more school and pls pay attention to the 4 factors.

Best of luck.

Hello,

Contact your graduate advisor and explain to him/her. You cannot be penalized for changing your referees' email addresses. In fact, graduate advisors are always willing to assist prospective students and to provide answers to their questions.

You can use EMS speedpost. It is cheaper than other courier services/companies and it is reliable too.

I wish you the best! smiley
Ems, they are so useless, I have had series of bade experiences with them

Hello gurus in the house. I am preparing my application little by little. I am about to send my transcripts for wes evaluation. However, the reason I want to have it assessed by wes is so that I won't have to always go request for transcript transmission from my school in Nigeria for subsequent studies.

Therefore, I'd like to know; is wes evaluation accepted for admission (in place of original transcripts) in all US and Canadian schools? And then, will wes always send my transcripts (the evaluated one) to any school/organization whenever I request them to? Will it be at a cost or for free?

If you have travelled to other countries before, ask for your passport back, tell them since they are taking too much time, that you want to travel elsewhere. That can make them expedite your application.

Best route is paper route and on an average, it is faster. It is the best because you would be submitting to a live person trained in helping you arrange in a format, where each document go and to look at your application and vet it against omissions and errors that can often lead to denials. Online you get no guidance. CIC for example, tolerates no gaps. Every gap of what you have been doing since time immemorial till present must be accounted for. Even the lacuna period where you were jobless or graduated from secondary and waiting for admission must be accounted for. You wouldn't know by filing online. Also, with paper route you get biometrics done there and then. Online you are subjected to the inconvenience of been called in later. One online filer here, one month later, had not even been called for biometrics. Why not kill two birds with one stone by just going in and doing everything once and for all. I can think of no advantage that online has over paper route.
