Please if someone is denied of F1 visa, is it advisable to reapply immediately?

If you don't fix the reason you were denied the first time, you'd probably be denied again. Better fix that before blowing away another N64k

Thanks for this. I've heard from gurus here and things like this are very helpful as no one is an island of knowledge. I am an analytical chemist and what I do is separation science and environmental fingerprinting; basically using chromatography and mass spectrometry to detect environmental pollutants. My interest is not limited to this because I can also work as a QC chemist in pharmaceutical industries but I fancy my chances as a lab analyst in a food, drug amd envirinmental analysis laboratory.
On applying early, how early should one apply? I've heard different opinions about this.
Also, the main challenge as we all know is visa sponsorship. How can one navigate this puting into consideration OPT work authorization? Thanks.

http://www.myvisajobs.com/H1B_Visa.aspx is a good place to start

1. Yes, you can change institution, as long as they issue you another I-20, and your SEVIS record is updated, and as long as it's reflected in your new Visa application. Otherwise, there may be issues at the POE.

2. Check the school website for the standardised test required, but for that course, it is likely GRE.

Some schools require an independent agency to do transcript evaluation, but most schools don't if your transcript is already in English. Again, check with your department/school.

If your school does not give transcript, they should be able to send it to the school directly (official, that is), at a cost.

That said, since you have not written the GRE at this time, I'm not sure you can still meet with Fall 2018, but it is possible.

Best wishes

Thanks very much . I sincerely appreciate your response . My transcript is in English already . I will contact the department as said . How do I go about the GrE and how long does it take ? Thanks once again

WES will not evaluate any transcript that you send, the authenticity cannot be verified, what you are required to do is to go to your school after you've initiated the process with WES and tell them to send official transcript to WES. The process for WES evaluation can range from just a few weeks to months. It all dapends on how fast your schools sends transcripts and responds to WES verification mail, so it is better you continue to disturb them after you initiate the process.....hope this helps

Imperioux, others have done it before. I have seen PhD holders going for first degree again.
Pls see other point you can correct here, others are learning from this trend.

Imperioux is very right!
Any right thinking person ( there might be a few exceptions though) wouldn't have a bachelor's in MEDICAL Biochemistry and then go for an associate degree(not even another Bachelors) in a very very similar medical related course. Even if he was going for a Bachelor's it will still be very difficult to convince a VO.
Any forward thinking person will know the next step is a graduate degree.

Just Imagine a medical doctor here in Nigeria wakes up tomorrow and tells you he wants to go to school of nursing or school of midwifery, won't you assume something isn't right somewhere? Now I'm not saying it's outrightly impossible... but it will be hard to sell that to another person.

It's totally different if you are switching Disciplines or switching careers and you want to tow another career path. But Similar degrees... and going 2 steps lower instead of higher almost doesn't sound right.

I'm sure there are threads that have discussed this in the past. Play around NL, you could find them.

You can register for the GRE/GMAT via ets.org/mba.com respectively. Some, in Nigeria, register through all these local agencies to get books et al.

Some people (like Indians grin) prepare for a day, while some others prepare over year. It depends on your (quant/vocab) background - just write when you are ready.

They will send through whatever means they have been communicating with your school over the years.
For some schools, e.g UI, OAU, Unilag, it's email.
For some other schools, it's postal mail.

I studied biochem, BS & MS and I did extensive research and have 2 research publications. Grad school is research based, so I don't see how scanty lab exp that you would gain in the entire associate degree can prove career advancement. I won't dispute it if you said you're switching field and want to start all over again. But any learned person would debunk the reasons you gave any time.

A PhD holder that's going back for a first degree (BS) could either be lying that he has PhD or he's totally lost. Since I've been on this thread, I've only seen 1 or 2 people pulling this stunt through whereas I've seen uncountable similar cases denied outrightly. I told Sanctus1 same thing before his first interview too. This case is hard, you've to have strong persuasion skills to pull it through. Best of luck.

I share the same opinion.
There was a transcript here some weeks back of a lady who had her first degree(Bachelor of Arts) in English and literary studies I think.
She's was switching careers to Computer Science and going for another Bachelors and she gave her reasons to the Interviewing officer. Ofcourse, she got her visa approved.

This doesn't mean it's impossible to get your visa approved if it's still in the same career path, but like imperioux (one of the few people I regard so well on this forum said). You've got to have strong persuasion skills.

Apply for MS medical lab Science instead of downgrading to a diploma.

This is the career advancement I was talking about. I will have to check how to get into the grad program for this course. If it doesn't require any elaborate prereqs, then I don't see why anyone would choose an asso degree over ms.

i think the only relationship a biochemist might have with the clinical lab is during his or her industrial training ..am trying to capitalize on that during my second interview...that med lab is really in me was so unfortunate i didn't get the admission during my first degree.
