Well these vehicles are not to be used for direct combat purpose or mounted with technicals. They will be used for other military purpose.

Shekau or his new photocopy, he will go down this 2018. You will say I told you. Dead or alive, he will go down, him na target for angry sojas dem wey dey plan, plus civil JT boyz put hand on top him matter.

My own worry is after this Boko Haram, the next war will be missile shooting insurgents, they will never never come back with same level of ordinary RPG that made dem lose this war to tanks. Observe Nigeria's crisis records since independence, the next insurgency is always next level higher technology. The next insurgency will kill T-72, you will say I told you. Nigeria has never had peace since 1960s.

I've been itching to ask why the Nigerian army has refused to use personal defence weapons like the claymore, especially around their FOBs. As you can see from the destruction arc, a single blast can cover almost a 180 degree angle. You can imagine how Boko Haram will feel when they've like 6-7 claymores with more than a thousand ball bearings tearing through them and these babies are remote controlled, so you can pack them them up once you want to shift your base.

My question is this, is there any reason why the Nigerian army has decided not to use this defence weapons or are they tied down by the western policies??

If Nigerian journalists ask military PROs this question they will get an answer but our journalists cant handle those people, that is why a major general was boasting to 180 million Nigerians on TV last month that he will not tell us the mystic magical name of Israeli Tavor rifle they imported, like say we have not seen F-35 stealth jets on internet and rifles are nuclear missile secrets.

We all know Nigeria is a member of United Nations nuclear non-proliferation and land mine ban treaties, these are common knowledge you can get by simple google search. List of all countries and the details of land mine usage ban is all fully disclosed on internet, especially United Nations websites and PDF downloads, its no secret.

Also, there are many media published accusations blaming Nigerian troops for typical Nigerian mentality of total carelessness, failure to follow standard base defence techniques, underestimating the so called illiterate enemy Boko Haram, and paying the price for it with their lives. You can also remember Shekau those days had captured our troops' armoured vehicles to use in attacking bases, so small explosives did not stop him, and he had too many anti-aircraft guns to kill soldiers right inside their bases wasting away anything called personal defence by firing into bases from long distances away, he wont need to step on any claymor.

This is modern age of internet where too much military information is free for all on internet, if you google far, you will see complete infantry tactics PDF manuals with hundreds of pages for free, you will see video clips of insurgent attack methods using anti-aircraft, mortar, grenade launcher, to blast off land mines and clear a narrow straight line path cutting through minefield that surrounded a military base, so they can blow up the landmines before driving vehicles in to attack the base on a safe path after common sense mine-clearing ideas.

Any army today that thinks civilian insurgents are fools, will learn the same painful lesson again and again. Watch AL-Jazeera documentary Battle Of Misrata and see how campus students, lecturers, area boys, deaf and dump handicap people, motor mechanics, electricians, all teemed up to fight and defeat Libyan army that had officers trained in defence academy. Life na teacher o!

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE ORGANIZES WORKSHOP FOR FIELD COMMANDERS, GIVES AWARDS TO DESERVING INDIVIDUALS
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 3 January 2018, held a one-day workshop for commanders of its various field units. The purpose of the workshop was to equip new Commanders and remind older ones of their responsibilities and HQ NAF expectations in the conduct of their activities. Consequently, presentations were made on subjects such as Command Responsibility, Administration, Financial Matters and Base Defence. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Awards Ceremony was also held to celebrate NAF personnel that were deemed to have demonstrated courage, resilience, commitment, ingenuity and dedication to service within the purview of their assigned tasks. Unlike previous CAS Awards ceremonies, today’s event was unique because some civilians who added value to the efforts at ensuring the territorial integrity of our fatherland were also honoured.
While declaring the workshop open, the CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, stated that command appointments in the NAF come with a lot of responsibilities, including management of human and material resources, and hence the need for the workshop. He, therefore, urged all participants to take keen interest in the presentations, which were carefully selected, to prepare them for increased effectiveness in the discharge of their responsibilities. On the CAS Awards Ceremony, Air Marshal Abubakar noted that special awards were conferred on a few individuals who were deemed to have exceptionally extolled the 3 core values of the NAF in the past year. Those NAF core values were said to be ‘‘Integrity first, Service before self and Excellence in all we do’’. The CAS was quick to add that the personnel who received the awards represented a sample of the many resilient hearts that the NAF is proud of. While advising the award recipients not to lose steam, he equally enjoined those who did not receive awards not to despair but rather be motivated. According to the CAS, “it is glaring that the NAF cannot be strong without our collective contributions no matter how modest they may be”. On the civilians that were honoured, he said “By their actions, these unique civilians have proved that the quest for peace and security in Nigeria, just like the rest of the world, requires the combination of the efforts of all Nigerians, irrespective of their affiliations or status”. He added that the action of the civilians was a testimony to the popular saying that “security is everybody’s business”.
The awards were in 4 categories, the first being that of the Best Unit in Research and Development in 2017, an award presented to 041 Communications Depot Shasha and received by the Unit Commander, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola. The second category of awards was for civilian staff, with Mr Armstrong Buba emerging as the Best Junior Civilian Staff in 2017 while Engineer Ajibola Suleimon received the award for the Best Senior Civilian Staff in 2017. The third category of awards was for military personnel only. Award of the Best Non-Commissioned (NCO) of the Year went to Lance Corporal Moses Okoye while the Best Senior NCO of the Year was adjudged to be Sergeant Ibrahim Abdulmalik. In addition, the Best Junior Officer of the Year Award was given to Flight Lieutenant Nkemdilim Ofodile, a female officer while Wing Commander Fatai Ganiyu carted away the Best Senior Officer of the Year Award.
The fourth and last category of awards was for special honourees, including Corporal Mureh John, who received the Gallantry Award of Distinguished Eagle Class 2. Other award recipients in the fourth category were Warrant Officer Jacob Omodara and Aircraftman Aliyu MS, both of who received the Special Proficiency Award Class 2. Furthermore, the following officers received the Special Proficiency Award Class 1: Air Commodore Obainana Imafidor, Group Captain Albert Bot, Wing Commander Ahmadu Haruna, Late Air Commodre Adanu Ochai and Late Wing Commander Stephen Hedima. The wives of Late Air Commodore Ochai and Late Wing Commander Hedima received the posthumous awards to their late husbands, both of who paid the supreme sacrifice while on active service to the nation. Lastly, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Charles Ohwo was recognized as the Best Air Component Commander in the ongoing Operation LAFIYA DOLE in Northeast Nigeria.
The workshop for NAF Commanders of field units commenced immediately after the awards. Resource persons at the workshop included serving and retired senior military officers that are known to be repositories of knowledge in their fields and specialities. The papers presented during the workshop included “Command Responsibility” by retired AVM Gabriel Odesola and “Administration” by retired AVM Ibrahim Kure. Each of the presentations was followed by lengthy and stimulating interactive session to further drive home the lessons learnt. Two other papers, titled “Financial Matters” and “Base Defence” will be presented by AVM Clement Ogbeche and Retired Major General Shehu Abdulkadir respectively tomorrow, 4 January 2018, when the Workshop will come to an end.
The 2 events of the day were organized in further fulfillment of one of the key drivers of the CAS Vision that seeks to promote the core values of integrity, excellence and service delivery.

my takeaway from the excerpt is the gallantry award(am glad they mentioned its title peculiarly) and the posthumous awards for Wing Cmdr Hedima and Air Cmdr Ochai.
Its very encouraging. God Bless the NAF

Are you ready to sell your soul to the..............

All of a sudden the small population of shi.......as would be oppressed in your country and BOOOM BOOM!!!!

Nigeria does not need to sell her soul to the..............

The nation wastes money by stealing and incompetence. Nigeria spent same amount on defence as Algeria and we should have same quality equipment as Egypt just a difference in numbers we buy. 2010-2015 Nigeria blew away $15 billion on defence spending. Past government it was extra special fund $2 billion for military, this new government it is $ 3 billion extra special fund for military, just add 2015, 2016 intervention funds $500m, 2016, 2017, 2018 hardware $500m 3 times. Buhari government has spent extra military funding $ 3 billion cash!!!!!!!

PMB cannot explain how $ 3 billion is spent without a single new tank to step up the army.

Last month when I said here FG should spend just like $100 milion on 25 new T-90 tanks to slowly replace our crumbling T-72s, and also in case Shekau terrorists get anti-tank missiles from Libya and Egypt ISIS of Africa. Almost every Nigeria here shouted no nooo noooo!!!!! T-72 is all we need, it is enough!!! The few Nigerians who initially agreed on T-90, saw the crowd on the side saying no, so they quickly changed sides in fear of T-72 crowd.

It takes a man of iron and steel character, to stand saying yes and face a crowd of 100 men saying no. What kills Nigeria is you hardly find people stand for right, once they see wrong crowd say no, they run to hide or change sides. The country will stink and rot to death with that kind of citizenry.

Every country you see, is a reflection of the quality of it's people. Nigeria will never rise greater than the Nigerians inside it.

Surprise, few weeks after, same Nigerians show up here liking and kissing Egyptian equipment, if Egyptians were dancing in T-72 they wont have their 1,000 Abrams tank manufactured locally in Egyptian factory. Now Egypt applied to Russia for licence to manufacture T-90 in Egypt with full maintenance hub to service all African and Middle East T-90 users. A South African who knew the low mentality of Nigerians recommended 1977 tech T-72 maintenance factory for Nigeria and the Nigerians said amen to his prayer.

You see, if you want to taste hypocrisy on steroids, login to Nairaland military threads everyday, you will get enough dose of hypocrisy you desire. Leave Nigerians alone to be liking romancing Egyptian hi-tech weapons, they will live and grow old with T-72 tanks. When a man curses himself, dont take him for deliverance, its a self inflicted injury bro! When God wants to punish a man, he sends the person he hates to tell him the truth, so that he will kick hard against it and ruin himself grin grin gringrin grin grin

I've been on officer's courses here in SA, the US and France with Nigerian officers and none of them would be seen in the field with foreign flag patches, so why do these guys do it and get away with it?
