Hi guys, good job going on here.

Please your advice is needed.
I intend to take up a masters program in Computer science. My first degree was computer science too and i have a 2.1, i finished school since 2009 and been working as a customer care exeutive with one of the telecomms company for about 4 years.
My Brother and mother both ready to sponsor, coupled with my little savings of about 2m.
Now my question is this,
1-With a 2.1 qualification, can i seek for admission in a college for PGD, will it not reduce my chances in getting the student visa.

2--The time frame of finishing school and wanting to further now is about 7 years, will that not reduce my chances?
3-- What can i do differently to have high chances of getting admission in selected schools, about 3 of them.

I am very optimistic but im just trying to get more light on this.

1. You have a 2:1 in your undergraduate studies coupled with 4 years experience in your field. why are you not going for MSc. and I think you might stand a chance in the express entry...

2. Nothing to worry about, so far you can explain what you have been doing in the past 7 years.

Please I'm sorry for derailing thread, not intentional though. I need urgent advice to enable me take a decision. Below is my question.

Please I need urgent advice on the subject above. I just received an email from Diamond bank asking me to report to their head quarter in Abuja for a 3weeks graduate trainee program prior to posting. From what i heard, their probation period last for six weeks, of which you be paid 80k and after you have been confirmed, you will received 240k as monthly salary.

Normally, I ought to be excited considering the fact that I have followed up with this job for the past two years and it has finally arrived and also my present job pays a little less than 100k monthly, which is enough incentive for me accept the offer but I'm not.

Why? I have plans of travelling to Canada with my wife and daughter hopefully by September, for a masters degree program with the aim of settling their afterwards. By God's grace we have been able to save some money for the trip and my tuition fees, and my wife is very passionate about leaving this country. She fears if I take up the banking job, I'll not have enough time to follow up with the travel arrangements and also we might tamper with our savings, in the course of relocation since we stay in Port Harcourt for which I agree.

Please guys what do you think, is 240k a month salary worth jeopardizing my travel plans? I have till tomorrow to reply the bank.

Note: I haven't secured admission yet.

Hello Room!

I was going through the thread and I noticed that most applicants were refused of their study visas based on the following grounds shorlisted on this post and this has given most of them sleepness night, some have decided to quit the Canadian dream and end up having the mindset that Canadian study visa is tough and can not be easily approved unless you use an AGENT, some even go as far as paying millions to AGENTS just to get their study visa. I must tell you that it is a lie, most agents even go as far as complicating issues for applicant, which most times lead to misrepresentation and a 5 years Ban. After reading this post, you have to get up to your feet , beat your chest and do things in the right way and get your study permit app approved Asap.

RECENT REFUSAL GROUNDS:

1-) Purpose of visit
2-) Current employment situation
3-) Personal asset and financial status.
4-) family ties in Canada or home country.

In this post I'll address the above reasons and give POSSSIBLE WAYS to tackle the concerns of the visa officer.

1-) PURPOSE OF VISIT -

It is important that your visit coincides with an important event in your life or the purpose of the visit can be reasonably explained in your SOP. If it is for study you must have qualifications in that field or have the expertise in that area. Most times, your job role or company should be relevant to previous studies and to your chosen field of study in Canada.
If you decide to change career path, it should be clearly stated on your SOP with compelling/strong/ and convincing reasons to why you decide to change a career path.

Your letter of intent should reflect the following and should be addressed in each paragraphs to avoid repetition.
1-) Describe your academic background briefly.
2-) Why you choose Canada not Nigeria.
3-) The school.
4-) The program of choice.
5-)How you intend to finance your studies in Canada without working.
6-) What you intend to achieve at the end of the program and how it might benefit you in the future.

Everything should point to 'studying in Canada' not working or visiting friends and family in Canada or securing a PR after completion of studies.

Address all academic backlogs, study gaps, study plans etc... on your SOP.

2-) CURRENT EMPLOYMENTSITUATION

Every embassy will like to satisfy themselves that the applicant has a gainful employment in their country of residence and that the prospects of getting a job when they loose their current one is high. That satisfies them that you won’t leave your job when you travel to their country. Canada’s High Commission is no exception. You need to prove to them that you’ve been working for at least 2 years continuously, you earn a good salary, say CAD$400- CAD$1,000 plus a month depending on the level of your education, you have leave to travel, and you are qualified for the job you are currently employed in. So add your CV, school certificates, previous and current job offer letters, leave letters, pay slips and introductory notes from your firm to evidence your employment.

3-) PERSONAL ASSET AND FINANCIAL STATUS

Like most embassies, the Canadian High Commission will also be interested in your finances. Show a 6-month bank statement or more for any Canada visa application; both current and savings accounts, showing your salaries or income from employment. If you have treasury bills, building society savings, mortgages, microfinance or credit union savings and the pass book or certificates, share investments in companies etc, add all to prove you have enough financial resources before and after your trip. There is no cut off bank statement figure. So try as much as possible to show your monthly inflow and outflow of salaries in your salary bank statement with a good closing balance as a proof of financial establishment.

4-)

FAMILY TIES IN CANADA OR HOME COUNTRY

Prospective travellers who were refused with this point wondered why they should have a family in Canada before being given the visa. Note that the full statement is “family in Canada OR family in your home country”. So its either you failed to prove each criterion or both criteria, that is, whether you have family ties in Canada or whether you have family ties to your home country. This is what you do :

Show sufficient ties to your home country i.e. what will compel you to return home?

1-) Do you have a spouse and kids(minors) and are you leaving them behind?
2-) Do you have elderly parents who depend on you?
3-) Do you own businesses/property that you need to continue managing?
4-) Do you have adequate funds?
5-) Do you have family members whom are not accompanying you to Canada?

All these mentioned are HOME TIES, so if you have any of the following listed, endeavor to show evidence to each of them and make sure you add it to your application.

The above information is Legit and was obtained from a Canadian Legal personnel.

I wish you all Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

All the best to the hopefuls and to the approved, CONGRATULATIONS!!!.

thanks for the hints. pls my case is this I finished my bsc with a 2.2 and it has been very difficult to get admission into a masters program. following this tread I see that masters has been the major advice to people seeking for trv. sincerely, I am tired of searching for a school so a friend told me to go for diploma which was what he did back in 2015 after his bsc and was approved although,I believe it wasn't as tough as this then. please what your advice on this because I dnt meet up with requirement for masters and this supervisors won't even reply me. actually I am considering diploma option.

Hello my people. I'm here again, but now with a good news!
My study permit application (online) was approved yesterday, Jan 3rd. (I promise to give full details ASAP).
However, I have some questions that need your urgent answers.
I was asked to submit my International Passport. At the time of submitting my biometrics at the VFS office in Lagos, my passport was not taken from me. Even when I asked the staff there, they said until it's requested for.
I intend to courier the passport to the VFS office. When I read info on their website, it says they only accept cash in person at the CVAC. I didn't make any payment at the VFS for courier service for passport during my Biometrics apart from the N460 I paid for SMS services.

So does it mean I have to make another payment of N8060 for return courier delivery, and N10830 for secure transmission of passport - or just how much to be precise; and if I have to, does that mean going to Lagos again or can I include the fee in the courier package together with my passport to the CVAC?

Your urgent response would be highly appreciated so I can decide whether or not I have to plan my travel to Lagos today.

Please pardon my ignorance on this and help provide sufficient info on it for me. Thanks.
(Again, please bear with me; I'll provide every info regarding my application once my passport is returned).

Update:
I have been clarified on this issue. No need to make any further payment. Passport and supporting documentations mailed to CVAC in Lagos. Waiting for return of passport.

Hello house, Pls advice me on this
My Dad asked me not to include my Step Siblings in the Family form that i should jst put, N/A, as in i am the only Child. Though the truth is, My parents are divorced and my Dad is a UK base living with my step mother and 3kids.
So i was thinking, wouldn't this people (VOs) later find out about the truth? Coz you know, i will surly upload his Int'l Passport's data page, And i am thinking they might use the info on it to run a background check on him.
He said, i should not include my steps siblings coz, it might leads to too much questions like it happened 13-15 years ago on the UK Visa he tried to get 4 me but couldn't and he wasn't even sure if it was a denial or not.

And again, on the Visa denial section on my Visa application, should i say yes that i have been denied Uk Visa before or No cause, like i mentioned above that Dad said is was 13-15yrs ago (during my JSS level) and wasn't sure if it was a denial of not but wasn't given then cause they required more info and he said he thinks, they may not hold the record for that long.
So pls guys, what's your opinion on this?

I am so busy these days and I rarely accept PMs. I hope you understand.

Please ask your question publicly here so that other readers can benefit.

Also I read through your comment history and see that you are applying for an undergraduate program. An additional recommendation I'd provide is that your sponsor show strong sources of income, as well as a bank statement with significant balance even after paying for tuition & living expenses.

You say your school fees & other expenses are approximately N7.5m. I'd suggest that your sponsor show a balance of much more than that amount even after paying your school fees & other expenses (because your program is four years long). Also, if your sponsor has dependents, the VO will not consider it credible that the sponsor will spend all of his/her savings on you. So your sponsor's bank statement balance must be more than enough to cover his/her dependents and your educational expenses.

Assuming your sponsor has a spouse and two kids, I'd suggest he/she show a bank statement balance of at least N15m (this is just my opinion) in order to show that he/she can comfortably sponsor you. As mentioned above, the sponsor would also provide proof of income and pay one year of your expenses ahead of time.

An undergraduate program is four years long and the VO needs to know that your sponsor is financially able to fund each of the four years.

Good day thesoj,
I will like you to know your view on something.
I have a relative in his early thirties that wants to travel for B.Sc degree in Canada. Do you think he has a good chance to get visa and admission based on his age? How much do you think his living expenses will be? While schooling can he also work to support himself?

Cheers

This a tough call i agree but though I cannot tell you what to do, I would say what I would do if I was in your shoes.
Since you do not have admission or visa yet, I would advise you live your life like you do not have it until you do.
Opportunities like 100% increase in salaries does not come everyday. And since you plan to relocate to Canada, your family does not have to go to your new job post with you - afterall, you would all be leaving by September right?
Also importantly, have you checked that you have enough funds for your wife and child to accompany you?
Also, thinking like a VO, what would be your home ties if you travel with them? Except you are going for a PhD, its better you apply alone and have them join you later.

My 2 penny

She fears if I take up the banking job, I'll not have enough time to follow up with the travel arrangements and also we might tamper with our savings, in the course of relocation since we stay in Port Harcourt for which I agree.

Please guys what do you think, is 240k a month salary worth jeopardizing my travel plans? I have till tomorrow to reply the bank.

Note: I haven't secured admission yet.

Lemia:

The account you used showed just 450k. If I may ask, did you get funding from the school and what was the value of the funding compared to your tuition fees.

Hey bro! I also applied to USASK! Did you get any form of funding from the school? I applied for a master of public administration program
