I don't agree with you sir.
Bidding failed because too many people were chasing the amount earmarked for the auction.
If you look at the results very well, you will see that ALL the tenors were seriously oversubscribed and that's a pointer to what will happen in subsequent auctions. They will equally be oversubscribed and the rates will fall seriously because those banks whose bids failed yesterday will bring down their bids in other to be successful.

I predicted last week that the rate we would get at the first auction yesterday is likely to be the highest this quarter and the very high amount of money bided yesterday is pointing in that direction and as the banks try to outwit each other; the stop rates will continue to fall.
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TONY56: 3:34pm On Jan 04, 2018
I predict that many banks will also fail in their bids during the next auction expecially for the 364-day tenor because some banks will bid very low and more people will also want to participate thereby making it even more oversubscribed than yesterday's.
Just my personal thinking o.

Well what u said sir is part of the reason ..Its not the Ist time t-bills will be oversubcribed ..if CBN wants/need be to mop up more liquidity they can sell more T billst to regulate inflation and forex stability ..And they may not cos they re tryn to borrow @ lower rate

Let see what happens the next Auction ..part of what i meant was that someone like me now have the idea of the range which the t-bills rates will go for that was why i did't participate on the first one .. I will try the next auction , but not witt all my funds ..With the outcome i
can prepare myself either to minimize my investment or shift finally to the equity mkt

Who knows what the next rate will be ..lets wait and see if it worth it or not / oversubcribed

Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by TONY56: 6:21pm On Jan 04, 2018
Just got debited by Stanbic.
Got about 13.88% for 182-day tenor which I think is superb given the situation of things and it's very close to the stop rate of 13.925%

Stanbic is superb!!!
I guess my risk of partaking in this first auction paid off.

Equity market. I got some got stocks last week, and just less than 2 weeks i have made 16% net income. Better than having to lock my funds for a 364-day tenor for a paltry 14%. NSE right now is a better investment haven!

Me, i be newbie oooo. I just follow through on stocks with sound fundamentals as evaluated by the house, do my due diligence and buy.

Stocks like Dangote Flour, Dangote Sugar, Fidelity, Access Bank, UBA, Flourmill, GT Bank, etc.

On the horizon at the moment are ACCESS BANK, UBA and Dangote Flour. You wont go wrong with them. These have the potentials to give no less than 50% within the next 6 months ALL THINGS BEING EQUAL. Take care

I messaged you as well. got some loose funds from a recently matured TBill that i could divest to NSE. will appreciate some guidance. i don't expect to be spoon-fed and fully understand how risks matrix vs rewards, i will also be doing some of my own info digging in the background.

Investnow2017:
NSE. Its going to rock in early 2018. The signals are looking good. Do your due diligence.

There is no investment without some form of risk, it is just the degree of risk that is the issue. For now there are stocks on the NSE that can give you no less than 50% within the next 12 months.

@luluz4u
I have some questions about using GTB to buy TBills. Are you still on this thread?

luluz4u:
CAUTION!!!
It MAY be suicidal to contact your account officer about your intentions to do NTB. In most cases, you will be frustrated and exploited if he knows or realises that you are a newbie in it

you really don't have to act as a novice for gtbank. all you need to do is send a signed instruction via mail to your acct officer cc customercare and the bank branch. anyone who needs more lectures abt tbill with gtb shld ask. I have never gone to the bank to purchase t-bill. then I would also advice you have your Internet banking details. all my tbill investment reflects there immediately.

Be careful of recommending stocks to guys, I doubt if they have the temperament and knowledge to cope with stock market investment.

I think they are better off with fixed deposits and money market mutual funds or bonds.

You don't tell people the secret of your wealth, it I better they find out.

Telling newbies, novice or the uninitiated that some investment can give 50%, is more like monkey hunting which the mmm guys were known for. It is better if the uninitiated find out themselves and understand how.
We don't need to derail this thread.

All I know is that real investors have multiple streams of income and they invest in different asset classes. The different asset classes are more like investment vehicles which have their various purposes.

TB has its purpose, but it is definitely not the ultimate.

Not that I don't know anything about stock. I was once a victim of fbn then #33. I know it involves risk and it doesn't mean I will not do my own searching background. So recommending a stock doesn't mean I will jump to it straight away. Moreover I didn't ask the question from you Sir.
