gurus don't you guys feel their is a nexus between the derogatory comments of president Trump and the high spate of delays at the embassy and consulate of late .... I know oga twood will defer but as a student of politics I can sense a major shake up in United States immigration policies vis-a- visa visa policies

TRUMP power is mainly on Twitter and in his mouth.... America is an organised society that even the president is governed by the laws and cannot just done as his pleases..... with all Trump rants against immigrants how many laws have been changed . He know his power na Twitter noise it starts and ends there

Regarding delays at the embassy or rejection as i call it. It never been easy getting a US visa . I went to school a while now and back then it still was way more No than yes

Your comment actually makes sense to me. Very soon things will change and it won't be just the Twitter rantings. There are so many legal immigrants living in the US, and as Trump have always reteraited, they are the reason why America is no longer great because they have no dream to move America forward. The US has been so open to all for so long, now they are trying to adopt the immigration laws which Canada and Australia operates so those who have no focus/in line to move America forward (the uneducated/unskilled immigrants) can be flushed out.
The world is changing, and we shouldn't deprecate the derogatory speech of the president, one day it will definitely shock those from the sh!thole countries. Have you forgotten Ghana must go!

Good decision. Check schools in your preferred state on Google to know the requirements.

Unofficial transcript need to be uploaded while filling your online application without that you won't be able to submit your application and as for evaluated one make sure you send it before deadline. Both unofficial and evaluated need to be send before granted admission.

I live in the US. Trust me, it is NOT just ranting. The gurus are 100% wrong. Trump's Twitter rants have been turned into executive orders (Muslim ban), actual policy and changes in bureaucratic procedures.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-immigration-employment-insight/trump-administration-red-tape-tangles-up-visas-for-skilled-foreigners-data-shows-idUSKCN1BV0G8

To be blunt, no Nigerian can afford to engage in wishful thinking. The above link reports on how under the Trump administration all of a sudden work visas are being delayed, requirements are getting more stringent and uncertainty about whether you can work in the US has increased. Make no mistake, there are multiple examples of this. What people need to understand is that the White House didn't just change in January 2017. The entire Washington DC government bureaucracy changed. Trump, his nazi-sympathizing advisors (Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller) and the GOP systematically changed the staffing of the agencies that implement policy.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/how-the-trump-era-is-changing-the-federal-bureaucracy/2017/12/30/8d5149c6-daa7-11e7-b859-fb0995360725_story.html?utm_term=.fc1a5c9b9cd0

He is not only cutting staffing. He has been appointing department heads that swear loyalty to him and his agenda. I live in DC so I am seeing firsthand that Trump has the power to remove heads of agencies and replace them with mini Trump's. Here is the new head of US Citizenship and Immigration.

http://immigrationimpact.com/2017/05/31/uscis-director-testifies-senate/

His appointment was successful. People need to start listening to what Trump says about immigration, especially immigration from Africa. He is very clear that 1) white Europeans are preferred, 2) skilled immigrants take jobs from Americans and depress wages.

And if you're thinking, well I'm a student so that won't affect me. Know that your only option for working legally in the US after graduation is through the H1-B visa. See my first link above on what's going on with the visa. Honestly I wouldn't advise anyone to come to study in the US now, unless 1) it's a 4 year plus program, in which case you might find that Trump removed from office in 2020, and I won't even encourage you to hope for that, 2) your family is rich and moving back to Nigeria will be fun for you, 3) you get into an Ivy League 2 year masters and you do not have to take out loans to pay for school.

I hate to be a Debbie downer, but a word is enough for the wise. TBH even before Trump the H1-B system was broken. Nigerians who haven't lived in the US on a visa have NO IDEA that it is entirely possible to work on visas for 8-10 years without seeing permanent residency. Canada may not be as exciting as America, but their policy not just for immigration but also for study is much more humane.

Chai, WHile I was ready to type congratulation message for you Mehn. You finish the whole interview question before GRE part, but u for write the GRE for writing sake because it's stated for graduate student of your school website now. ooooooh Mehn, this is painful, write GRE and pray it's easier the next time and becareful so u will not look desperate the next time you go. Sorry Man

bushlance:
So I had my second interview yesterday. I had already posted the first during which I wasn't confident enough to present my case.
So this is the 2nd:
V.O : Good morning
Me: Good morning ma'am (with a smile )
V.O: Why are you going to the US?
Me: I am going for my masters in Prjt Mangmt at Morgan state University Baltimore.
V.O : Why are you switching from Geology?
Me: Project Management will give me a right platform to grow in my career. I have taken on many project management projects in my organisation even gotten an award as a best project management team member on a Chevron Project but because I don't a degree in Project Management, Jobs are not assigned to me.
Also my organisation has stated in my study leave that on my return with this dregree from Morgan I will be qualified to apply for a promotion.
Project Management will not limit me to my Organisation as I intend to move to other industries on my return to Nigeria, gather experince and set up my own project management firm here in Nigeria.
V.O : (She looked really impressed)
Why did you choose Morgan ?
Me: Morgan offers an interdisciplinary project Management course. The program is board. And Ideal for my plans. I was excited by the thought that I will study scope management and integration. That is my major area of interest because Scope creeping is a major problem in the Nigerian project management field.
V.O: How did you hear about this school?
Me: It was initially recommended by my boss during my NYSC so when I decided to go for my Masters in the US I researched using Peterson's guide and College board. I found out... (She cut me short)
V.O: What was your highest degree on ?
Me: I have a Bachelor of Technology in Geology.
(She nodded )
V.O: So that is why you want you want to leave I.T?
Me: No GIS (Geographical Information System) not IT. (My current job) GIS is a part
Geology and GIS exposed me the experince I have acquired in Project Management so It is in line with my career plan.
V.O: (Starts typing.)
Sorry pls hold on.
Types for over 5mins.
(At this point I was feeling good)
V.O: Who is paying?
Me: My uncle.
V.O: What does he do?
Me: He is a civil engineer and also owns a real estate firm.
V.O: Buys and sells houses?
Me: No. He buys lands and develops. Build and sells.
V.Osad Nods)
Why is he sponsoring you.
Me: My mom trained him so this I like a pay back (Smiling)
V.O: Nods.
(Starts typing)
Me: was waiting for my white paper. Lol.
V.O: types for like 2 mins.
V.O: Did you write any standardised test ?
Me: Actually I was meant to. I had prepared to but on contacting the school I was informed that it was waived for me. I believe it was due to my work experince and the professional certifications I have bagged in Project management over the years.
V.O: Starts typing.
But it is clearly stated here on Morgan's website that you need GRE.
Me: Yes but the departments have their own requirements for each cousre.
V.O: Why would they have their requirement when it is stated on the site?
Me: That on the site is General but they have theirs based on the individual programs.
V.O : I am sorry you are blablabla.
Me: I still couldn't believe it.
I have written the school explaining my situation and they chair has replied promising to give me a letter to the embassy to prove that I didn't need the standardised exams.
DO I REAPPLY & PRESENT THE LETTER?
I AM CONFUSED. PLEASE GUYS KINDLY CRITICISE & ADVICE.

NO, It doesn't just work in that simple mathematics way sir. Get the standard way
kylexy61:

I schooled in Ghana. My GPA is to a 4.0 scale. A rough way to convert your cgpa to a 4.0 scale is to multiply it by 4/5. That is, 4.57 x 4/5 = 3.66

Why not throw in one or two Phd Applications? Mind you now adays faculties are looking for students they can work with on a long term. If I were you, with that profile I would have applied to at least 2 top 20 school for PHd. You can check Northwestern University if the application is still on,if you apply for phd and even if you dont get admitted for Phd, you will be granted Msc admision.

Protect your future from agent and run far away from them.... We have three (3) categories of agent 1) The once that will collect your money and not do you any good and 2) The once that will not collect your money and not do you any good 3) The once that will not collect your money but add years to your stay before you get admission to start VISA processing. Stay focus and learn enough to paakage your VISA application yourself from NL and you will come back and thank the gurus in the house

ruddiggerr:
Good day house. Pls I am new here and i want to apply to a school in the U.S. I am looking at info tech or business info systems. Which school will be better for these courses and a little bit less expensive. Plus Which is more better, using through an agent or sending the application yourself?
