Hmmmm...

Some people can’t even read and understand the Bible they carry go church every Sunday

What did God told the apostles to do with the leftovers after feeding five thousand peoples with two fish’s and five loafs bread?

Are the two fishes and five loaves of bread the communion Jesus instituted? How can you make such allusions?

You should have made reference to the last supper when Jesus broke bread with his disciples. .
Well, in the catholic church, leftovers are stored in the tabernacle. And if there's no tabernacle, the priest ensures that there's no leftovers either by eaten all of it, or sharing large amounts to the recipients of the Eucharist.

Hello fellow nairalanders, so after church service today we had holy communion and they were some leftovers. Please I would like to know if it's right to dispose the leftovers or share the rest among ourselves.

Over to the pastor's in the house.

If you feel the need to dispose off holy communion then what you receive is not holy communion.

Because if truly what you received is the body and blood of Jesus Christ, then you should know that every drop or piece of it is precious and should be preserved

"And he should also know that Christ is received, whole and entire under either kind alone." Even if the communion becomes insufficient and all you received is a crumb, you still receive Christ.

I think you attend a private church or none. The feeding of 5000 is a different situation with the lord supper(it is remembrance of Christ.

I remember those days we started taking the communion newly. I didn't even really know what it meant even after attending confirmation classes. All I wanted to do is have a feel of that sweet taste of wine. Hehe.

Well, thank God for salvation, a deeper understanding of the word and personal relationship with the Holy Spirit.

Raise your hands if you understand what I'm saying. grin grin grin

truth.. sometimes they used ribena or red grape juice..very sweet I didn't care much about the bread then

now I know better..

In the Catholic Church, the Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion) is the body and blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ. If the Holy Communion remains after distribution in the Mass, it is kept in the Ciborium and taken to the tabernacle. There it remains until the next Mass. Good a thing, the Holy Catholic Church celebrates the holy Mass everyday.

I never said it was not meant for every christian, but 20-25 years ago it was a rare sight in most Protestant churches.
But today it has become common to see churches doing it, so what changed

The OP sure will get different answers to his question. This is as a result of the doctrinal differences in Christendom.
But quote me anywhere, the Catholic Church is in the best position to give this answer, because she alone understands what the Eucharist is.

Firstly, it is important for you to understand that Holy Communion can't be equated with the feeding of the multitude.
In the Anglican church, once the Holy Communion i.e. the bread and wine has been consecrated, it has to be consumed.
So at times you might find the priest giving you more than one piece of bread because he has sensed that their might be remnants, same goes to the wine which is now poured into very small cups as against the default single big cup.
If after the issuing the Holy Communion and it still remains, the priest can share it amongst themselves, the congregation again (mainly does sitting in front), the church workers, or amongst the choir members just as someone had stated here.

How do you store leaven bread? Especially given that most churches don't give communion like the catholics do.

The irony is that the catholics that celebrates the mass every day where communion is taken use unleaven bread which can be stored for long without going bad.
It is not only the catholic church that uses leaven bread.

Since when did the Pentecostals start receiving Holy Communion? I thought it was a Catholic thing which you guys didn't pass up any opportunity to criticize. You are here asking a stupid question because you guys have chosen to practice what u don't understand. #COPYCATS undecided
