I have carefully read all the parts pertaining to this thread right from when it was created by one "Suxes2005" on February 20, 2011. I could also read where the Consul asked some applicants to show their invitation(s) document(s) during the interview. So I never know if this will be my case too. I am looking for suggestions that can possibly boost my chances of getting my visa. In my case, please make some suggestions to me.

If truly you've read, then you should know that doing the right
thing and going with peace of mind is the BEST.

Lady G, I thank you a lot for your info. I will dig deeper to find out how to use my career as a technique. However, the USA Library of Congress also promised to send a letter on my behalf to the embassy via their Congressional Representative only if my visa is not granted (perhaps for the embassy to consider my application or sort). They are aware of my coming to the States and by the way, they are having their 18th Washington National Book Festival on the September 1st which they want me to attend. Please what suggestion and or advise do you have to give me in the involvement of the Library of Congress in my case?

Honestly it's enough. Just apply for the visa. I'm not quite sure why you persist in asking over and over again.

Please you're coming across as desperate. Visas are not rights thy are privileges. Remember that.
And I don't see why a first time traveller would not be able to fund his own trip...but a 'friend' wants to?

Yes I have copies of my published books and will be going to the embassy with them. My first book was published in the United States in 2016 which has won me "Author of the Year 2016" in France, "Literature Revelation of 2016" in Nigeria, "Best Duo Author of 2016" in Swaziland, nominated alongside a Swazi author. My second book was published last year in Abuja and has been translated to two foreign languages: Russian and Georgian. Actually, this is my third book I am going to research about. I have copies of these published books with me and they are all amazingly neat published books. I don't know if it will interest the VO if I let 'them' know my first USA published book was also edited in USA by a Liberal Arts professor of Philadelphia State University. Please what do you think?

How strong is your reputation Online being an author if the V.O run a search on your works. Nobody can tell u the best way to present yourself. A single question from another angle can put u off balance instantly. V.O's sabi our normal preparation. They glance through nairaland transcripts too. Go and be honest.

All through today I have been enquiring from a lot of people and supprising I learnt some of my friends has the same issue, change their name and has been traveling to state without hassle. But I still need more advise from the gurus in the house cos my friend really need my help. Thanks for all the advise So far.

they never had issues maybe because of passport new development E-passport now and ordinary passport then (People do amendment). Because it worked for A doesn't mean B also will scale through. "Someone that seek advise usually know what He/She will eventually do" Their policy is being honest. Nobody will advise u more than that here ooo

being honest is their policy, fill the correct details on your new ds-160 and draw the V.O attention to the difference that u made mistake on your last application, the V.O will surely give u a fresh look don't wait for the V.O to realise the mistake by him/herself. Never make mention of "Agent help me fill" u accept all mistakes because it was previously signed by you. Just saying

Being an author or a lit. teacher u might not escape a flashback on Edu. "What school did u attend" na woman question. Being which ever one u choose a literary term could be asked to put u off balance. Your answer determines if u are truly an author or literature teacher. Just saying

When applicant bio is O and parent is X and all past applicants are Y. Fish out Y's under Y with same X and O. 2 same people will show instantly.

Some V.O might get upset and ban u that u represent someone else for a visa so so year. What do u stand to gain? Some risk don't worth it.

Hello house, please I need your help brother is in a dilemma here, he paid almost $1000 for visa and they are refusing to give him a refund. His case below:

I have an F1 and b1/b2 visa which expired last year. I did a drop box renewal for my b1/ b2 through drop box and I was given a new bib2 visa but unfortunately my F1 visa was cancelled, I did a renewal for my F1 visa last week through drop box, it was rejected because my F1 visa has cancelled on it. The 5 dependants that I added on mine could not go too because of the cancellation, that I should have gone for an interview. I was told to go pay a fresh payment for all of us. I declined and only paid for myself because I have to be in the states by next week. Do I have a case?

My younger sister attended an interview at the US Embassy in Lagos and did biometrics, maybe 2004 or 2005 if my memory is not failing me.... Well, it's up to him sha, these are consequences for wrongdoing. Unless he has a sound reason for the said changes, I however believe strongly that those details can be thrashed in the bin of forgotten past and nothing will happen!

my man your current job u can leave anytime and come back anytime u want, your father can't tell u NO (I don't want u). Job no tie u kankan. Why is your father sponsoring your trip since u work? If u are not currently a student, Father sponsorship might not work being an adult working. Just saying

I meant no working formula to get the US visa.

So go with what you have and try read as many transcripts as possible.
