Nobody is happy with the new changes going on everyday and i am not disputing the fact that a bill and law....from my first comment regarding this which i quote ".Citizen wait is no longer 5years anymore but 10years.. for PR i think if you have to stay in Australia for 3-4years now before you are eligible for" don't forget the word "I think" and what it means.

Albion05:
Bro!... we all have one or two people in OZ who knows about hapenings. We as well don't live in an isolation from the rest of the world.
No doubt, there is a Bill before the house until that bill is passed by the majority of the house and pass in to law, such Bill is not binding the initial of 8years PR you said for applying for Citizenship.
There is difference between a Bill and Law or an Act.

A bill is proposed legislation under consideration by a legislature.[1] A bill does not become law until it is passed by the legislature and, in most cases, approved by the executive. Once a bill has been enacted into law, it is called an act of the legislature, or a statute.

Bro, there are so many politicking when it comes to Bill especially these very one that affect PR holders to apply for Citizenship.
This legislatures lives in the neighborhood with the people and they get feedback from them as well.
Will you be happy if such Bill is finally passed into law?...

and please read carefully, i did not say there are no PR route to Australia from Nigeria or anywhere and for school issuing visa are you in Australia? have you tried transferring to another uni? if you not in Australia and you havent tried any of this then i dont have any discussion with you based on that unless you tried any of this and they tell you the requirement.

You are quoting a bill yet to be pass in which more than half of the law makers don't subscribe to it, yes i am Aussie and still insist schools don't issue visa. If you are talking about changing sch, more than half of Nigerians that we arrived RMIT almost the same time have switched sch and those that i meet here that require their visas to be extended just get a notification letter from their unis and apply for extension with DIBP, so don't know what you are driving at.
Also know someone from Brazil studying Msc in Electrical Electronics with just a semester to go, he has already got his PR staying for less than two years in Australia, so where are you getting your information from?

Did they change the school the moment they arrive here or they have to do 6months of principal course? and why? because your visa was attached to your school not immigration

Did you asked him whether he was release just like that or he loosed some money... Why is your offer letter not enough to apply for a student visa? why do you need CoE and who issued CoE and what does CoE really means go look it up. *End of Discussion*

Don't change what raised the discussion, your initial statement was schs issue grant which i counter, there is huge different between offer letter and COE, anybody can be given an offer but you have to pay to get a COE which is one of the most important documents to apply for visa. You can be given a COE by your sch yet DIBP will still deny you visa, so tell me who issue visas between schs and DIBP?
He stated it here clearly that he got his initial deposit back.

tell me if he qualifies to transfer the moment he gets to australia.

regarding the school grant.....yes anybody can be given offer letter don't forget they are countries out there that you don't need to pay before you get issued you pay based on arrival. If DIBP denies visa which draw back to my first statement which i said DIBP only do some internal security check so if they are not happy with your security check what happens...but if the school did not confirm you to DIBP you cannot apply for visa so therefore the school confirms you and DIBP checks

You know i hardly be on here because everybody thinks they know too much and no body pays me for typing in here and chipping information here as well.....Its close to midnight here of which whether i pass wrong or right information...my sleep is precious but yet i choose to be on my keyboard. I have been on here for a while you can check my post...when i was on my application no one has ever responded to my question but yet i still come back here when i have time. some of those responding i am sure if you come overc here going back here would be difficult but yet some of us still find time to come back...well you can only be on a site were you achieve and i don't see any point being on here when i don't have anything.

Please anyone with opinion should advice me.
Having applied for my study permit in November and no grant yet, I had to defer till May. Along the line, I applied to a school in the US as a plan B and fortunately I got admitted. Here’s my question; do you think I should call DIBP to cancel the application and get my money back from the school in other to pursue the American Admission? Also the admission is for summer as well.
Just that the DIBP wait is killing and frustrating. Please advice

Sincerely you might be right to a certain extent but am not sure 100%

Australia has switched from a policy called SVP to SSVF. Under SVP Universities / Schools are the one in charge of issuing international students visa for mainly Masters & Bachelors degree students.

Under SSVF rules is clumsy and open to many interpretations.

Let me explain certain things you don't understand, our resumption is next week monday and for new students, haven paid AUD7,000 initial semester fees, they are expected to pay the rest by March 31 and after this date, RMIT will still extend it to April 27 and if you ain't able to pay your fees by that time, your COE will be cancelled and the sch will give you two options take your initial deposit or will you like to continue in the coming semester? Most will take their money and opt for another sch thereby starting again, know couple of ppl that have been in this scenario and can call some NL to testify. RMIT is my sch and third semester with them, I know everything about that sch, so you don't have to quote that link for me.
Whether the sch confirm you or not, my point still stands only DIBP has the right to grant visas and there decision is not solely base on confirmation from schools.
