Hello good people of Nairaland.
Its been very rewarding following this thrend.

Pls, I got into Houston on saturday the 17th of this month and there was enough drilling at the POE as almost all the officers wanted to interrogate me followed by one who was practically threatening me with the fact that I borrowed the $10k dollars I had with me,, saying it is common with you Nigerians.

Thanks
Please can you give us a detailed transcript of your POE experience?! Thank you Ma'am.

Do you meet the conditions for it if yes then go to the search bar type in the key word and a lot of information on that will be in your face before you even finish typing.

[Okay

Touched George Bush international Airport and met a very short queue and soon it was my turn
And the interview started with a dark officer.

Your passport please
I gave her
What are you here for
Child birth
And then she asked ' why is it that 50% of Nigerians now come here all they time to give birth?
Then I answered we love it here and also for the dual citizenship you have to offer us.
And she said place your hands in here
And i did
Why my four fingers where still on the scanner another officer showed up and asked,
Where are you staying why here and i answered
Intown suite greenpoint
And he signalled the first interview that it was okay and then she shouted excort and an officer appeared n and directed me downstairs to meet with another officer who took my passport yet again and dgave me a white paper to fill, after which i gave the paper back to him and he asked me to go and sit down with other people,
He later called me and one other guy to follow a guy who would help us claim our bags and then returned to him.
He directed again to the inspection room line 1 and i met another officer who collected my bags and opened them and asked that i give him the $10k i declared and he started counting and asked if i had any other money apart from this n i answered #350 and he asked is that all and i said yes.
He helped me pack up my bags and pointed another officer to me and i went and scanned the bags, after which he asked me to go with my bag to the officer before him and as i started out to that one, he shouted from his seat i am done with her, please let her go.

While heading out, that same last officer appeared from no where and said where did you borrow the money from, that he has been to Nigeria before and he knows we borrow alot and i said i didnt borrow any money because we Nigerians are very rich.

And he insisted and said which bank did you borrow the money from and i said i didnt borrow any money from any bank and then he asked, what does your husband do and i answered he is a real estate property consultant and a lawyer, and he said property like ratification and all and i said yes, builds, buys, and sells and ratifies documents.

He was still talking and i said you seem to know much about this thing and he said i know about everything.

And another yet appeared and said let me have your address, and i aswered which? And he said Nigeria, i gave him and he was looking into his system and said Dr correspondence, i gave him and n he said this is expensive, and he asked why must you give here and i asked, for good medical care and for dual citizenship purpose and gave me both my passport and other documents with him and said please enjoy your stay with us.
While leaving another officer came and said dont you want to talk with me too and i said with my tired self why not.
After much questioning, he asked if someone was coming to pick me up and i said yes and he directed me on how to go out, saying have a great stay in houston.

And other came and said you told me you were going to El paso and i said i never did, infact i havent even spoken with you before now and then he said have a nice stay and i replied thank you

Thats was how i left them o tired and worn out.

Pls sis kindly forgive my manner of write up.

Thanks

Hi dear, please I sent you a PM kindly respond

Adedoyin2108:
Good afternoon ladies

Baby girl arrived on the 3rd of January 2018 at Houston Northwest Medical Center through vaginal delivery.
Breakdown of cost:
Dr Xydas: 2000
Hospital: 2000
Induction: 200*
Stress test: 200*
Epidural: 650*
Hospital peadiatrician: 675 (the normal fee is much higher, this is the The Healthy Baby Package rate)
Pathology: 97 (after discount)
Peadiatrician(after discharge): 75
Birth certificate: 75 (plus delivery charge)
Passport: 160 (expedited)
Visa on arrival 190
*these are optional

I got baby's birth certificate 18 days after birth, 22/1; it was delayed cos of the adverse weather. It's 23 per copy but I paid 75 because I ordered it online (http://houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/) and it was delivered to me next business day. To save time, I booked my appointment at the passport agency while waiting for the birth certificate. I booked two appointments actually, with different email addresses just in case [(https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/apply-renew-passport/hurry.html)
When booking the appointment, it's important to indicate that you need the passport same day in order to obtain a visa. After I got the birth certificate, I went for the passport interview the next day, 23/1. My husband wasn't present for the interview, but he was around for the baby's birth so we notarised in the US. If your husband isn't coming to the US, it's best to notarise the document at the US embassy before travelling to the US, notarising at a Nigerian notary public is no longer accepted. I got the US passport same day and sent the email for visa on arrival that night, got approval on Thursday 25/1 (https://immigration.gov.ng/visa-on-arrival/) and travelled on Monday 29/1 via Lufthansa. I had called Lufthansa customer care a day earlier to book a bassinet seat.
I got to Lagos on the 30th, straight to visa on arrival office, presented the approval and other docs, filled a form, paid the fee and baby was stamped in for a month.

NB: Got the Social security number in less than 2 weeks

Thanks to everyone for sharing info on this thread, God bless you all mightily!. To God be the glory!

Insurance of visa is usually based the conviction that you will come back after your trip. What do you think you filled that will convince one dat you will not disappear during your trip. I mean, what ties do you have in Nigeria?

For the birth certificate (sorry I'm not tagging who asked about that), after 2 days of hospital discharge, just go to the bc office in your county. that's what i did and i picked up as much copies as i wanted.

I applied for nigerian passport last week Thursday, paid 77$ money order and went to the embassy yesterday for my appointment. passport was also ready as at the evening of the same day. Told them I was traveling immediately.
All I paid was that 77$ money order to innovate. since the passport is cheaper than VOA, why do so many people opt for the VOA? everything took me a week.

Please i need ur help on the application of nigerian passport. My email is Ladeonas@yahoo.co.uk

In my own opinion I think the VO was wondering y u r the sponsor and your husband isn't supporting t all . Then he asked if anyone would travel with u and u also said your mum. Leaving your husband out entirely and you told him that you are married . Not sure the VO was convinced about your return back to Nigeria..

So missionary journey finally complete (I already posted my POE story). Been wanting to post this but I kept postponing.

So I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl in nov in Colorado. Hospital costs:
2day vaginal delivery stay: 2300
Doctor: 2190 (but I got refunded 230 for some reason, no complaints here!)
For anesthetiser awon oloriburuku people. I didn’t take epidural o! During labour one of the nurses offered me Nitrus oxide to help with the pain and I said fine, I was even pretty out of it sef cos I can’t remember. Apparently the anestheologist came in for like 5mins and left. Only for me to get a bill from them like three weeks after of $2000!! If I took epidural at least I will know I gained something, nitrus oxide didn’t even do anything. I still felt all the pain. Anyways I fought well and btw guys most hospitals have patient care representatives they help with any issues you might have especially billing problems with external specialists. Try and find their details cos it was the babe that helped me cos she knew one of the doctors in the anestheologists’ office. I eventually paid $600 After plenty fight!
Before delivery I got admitted for high bp monitoring, got charged $535 after plenty haggling.
Tests: $500 ish

Got social security no three weeks after, applied for expited passport ($165)in Philly and got it same day. Applied for visa on arrival and got a response two days later. Paid $280 for baby’s Ticket for virgin atlantic, also apparently it was cheaper for me to get it there than in Naija.

I’m so thankful for this forum cos I got all the info I needed here.

Please how did u get your baby ticket?

Hi everyone. So I and my wife got denied Visa in Abuja. We stay in Abuja. This is our first interview and intent to travel out of the country. We were wondering how to apply again- this transpired between us and the VO.

Us- Hi good morning
VO- good morning can I have your passports please
VO- what's the relationship between you two
DH- we a couple, a married couple
VO- How long have you been married?
DH- got married 2016 December
VO- why are you travelling to the US
US- for vacation and to have our first baby
VO- Why the US
DH.- for better medical services
VO- but there are good Hospitals here
DH- the hospitals we currently use have issues
VO- How long have you worked for ********
DH- a year yesterday
VO- how much do you earn
DH- told her the amount
VO- asked wife the same question and where she worked
DW- I work at ****** and earn ******
VO- How many years have you worked for *****
DW- 3 years
VO- How much will this trip cost you
US- 12 thousand dollars
VO- who are you staying with
DW- My aunty
VO- where are you going to in the US
DH- Arlington
VO- Have any of you travel before out of Nigeria
US- No
VO- So sorry you do not meet the requirement, you can always reapply.

So we left their. We are thinking of reapplying and using the Hospital and doctor as contacts and get an apartment as where we would stay while in the Us. Also the option of DW applying first and go with her mum since her mum has a tourist Visa. Then DH can apply after. Please advice if we should also change the contact as against what we used before.

The only issue I see here is your reply to the question 'why are travelling to the us' why not just tell them the truth that it's for the dual citizenship, they know the answer already, they just want to know if you are sincere about it. I don't think you should change your contact,I don't think it has anything to do with your rejection.
Try and reapply soonest. Wish you all the best.

Please someone pls help as I am worried over this.

Thanks

Most likely you were stamped in for 6months. To be on the safe side you can check it here https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home[/quote]
