If the result was fantastic, then it should be in full bid.

Agbalowomeri shouted that the result was out 1hr before it appeared on NSE website. I tried downloading it but kept getting error messages until it was finally taken down.

I just feel the result was not fantastic hence Agbalowomeri will just be offloading quietly until it finally shows up.

Agba have no report at hand, what will it benefit Agba for holding Afripud result huh

Agba just eager to see the result for his 20% dumping to come fast to rest at the sideline ready for the real planting

What I believe is that so long as the result is out, words must have reached people about the wonderful results and you will see it in the price movements. That is my opinion.

People should be careful so that Agba and Loco will not sell on them. grin

RabbiDoracle:
It is done in Anambra where an Ibo business man meets with the chiefs and sets up ranches deep inside the bush. The business man already has contacts with the Fulani business man for constant supply of cows. He employs Fulani herdsmen to help take the cows into the bush for grazing far away from farmlands. The community knows that the cows are assets of the Ibo man and the herdsmen are employees. No crop is eaten, and the villagers are at peace.
That is wonderful Bro...hope it continues being replicated and may be big companies get really involved while government provides safety. This is how a country's economy grows, win-win!
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Bianco1: 1:30pm On Feb 25, 2018
RabbiDoracle:
If prices are elevated and investors don't want to buy, it will continue to fall until an equilibrium is reached. Sometimes it could be exacerbated by herd selling.

Once the low price is reached, you calculate your measure of safety, estimate your possible DY and possible price of a exit and then buy.
Appreciate your insight as usual...Thanks!

Confidence in Naija economy growing or just portfolio investors? If yawa gas they pick up their portfolio and jaaaaaaaaaa! Hope the government use these funds well to avoid another type of Paris club exit in the future.

Let's have some thing to think about as we enter into results week.

Between July 2017 and August 2017, NAFEX rate for foreign investors increased from N306 to N360 per $1. CBN Official rate is still N305 to N306. I think interbank rates have also gone up.

Banks that have FX loans and assets recognised gains on FX assets and loss on FX liabilities as at 2016 Year end. With the black market rates converging with the NAFEX rates and this NAFEX rates seems to be a benchmark for FX conversion now, what is the outlook for the performance of banks in 2017 Year end? We know those banks that recognised FX gains in the assets they had. What will be their fate now that they have put the FX assets to use at maybe 305 or 306? With the trending rates now, will they increase their exchange rate from 306 to 359/360(NAFEX rate)?

If they do, this should have big negative impact on their profitability.
The way I see it.
2016 windfall for banks was FX gains.
2017 was T-bills.
2018? perhaps write backs on earlier NPL provisions.

Well, I think regarding currency crisis, the worst is behind us.
I forecast a sub 300 dollar rate before the end of the coming year 2019 (Nafex/Parallel market), especially if the government of that time will also have a keen interest at strengthening the local currency. With a favourable price and output levels for oil, and all the prospective inflows from eurobonds, God will give us a 50-60bn reserves level before we end Q4'18.
When that happens, the CBN will be more comfortable with welcoming any such suggestion from the presidency as regards naira strengthening.

Alikote also mentioned that AD wants it at c.280 soon as his refinery commences operations next year, because he earns his bulk in naira and has huge dollar obligations. So his smart-thinking brain figures "the cheaper the dollar, the better"

We're hoping that before the end of next year, our petrol import bills will be replaced with petrol export receipt courtesy of Alhaji, God willing.

2016 windfall for banks was FX gains. (Why: because there was an increase from was it N280 to N306 per USD)

2017 was T-bills. (Why: because there was higher rates for TBills. However exchange rate also increased from N306 to N360 per USD).

2018? perhaps write backs on earlier NPL provisions.

Pls why would CI LEASING start s process not finish it, in 2014 wanted to reconstructe shares 1:8, abandoned the project, 2017 shares another share reconstruction 1:4, keept shareholder in suspense. How long will it take. I attended the EGM, a question was asked when will the share reconstruction take place, chairman could not give a definitive answer, says depending on market situation. Why start it then

l
Definitely Rabbi, but I think for 2016, The surge was from 199 to 306, which is why I think it was more pronounced then.
Based on what my mind recalls, The MPC at the May'16 meeting decided to adopt a flexible exchange rate regime. That was the first lift of the peg that moved the naira to 280 ,till around Q4'16 when market forces pushed it to c.305.

Do banks currently value their FX assets using the NAFEX rate as against the official?
