The coy won new businesses during the year. If not that First Bank denied us First Registrars, we would have been comparing the two coys by now.

How sustainable is the result if TBills rates drop?

Only investment income will rescue them.

Highlights;

Div- 40k ...which translates to a DY of approx 7.7% given Friday's closing price of N5.20
Though there was a slight reduction in reg income, the approx 60% growth in other income and net interest income more than made up for the short fall.
PAT also grow by 59.4% to over 1.7 b
EPS improved by almost the same margin to 0.86k
I also liked the fact that the company has enough cash with a good buffer from a better retained earnings, and a much healthier CF.
My only worry was the slight jump in OPEX and the huge increment in finance charges.

Fair enough result to me !!
However, the market might react negatively to the slightly lower than expected dividend.
...so it wont be entirely out of place to see a slight pull back in the very short term before it continues its ride up.
In my veiw FP should come close to a 63% premium from Friday's closing price (i.e. (62.7/100 × 5.20) + (5.20) = N8.40k)
...so my FP is N8.40k.

NOTE: This should not be interpreted to mean any kind of recommendation. ...DD always advised pls.
If they made so much from investment income, why don't you share it with the shareholders rather than retain alot.

We should concentrate on their core business making money. This is the one we will see every year and not a yo-yo investment income grin

Good results from investment income but core business was flat. Poor dividend!

The result is unsustainable and APR has just done the wise thing by not raising the bar in dividend payment because they will struggle to match this years performance. Trying to have an even dividend growth seems the only wise option to avoid taking a beating next year.

TBills rate are already on the decline and should fall below double digits before year end with the swap of domestic debt for foreign debt. Unclaimed dividend stock will decline because of e-dividend drive and that is another -ve for interest/investment income. They can't even hold onto the unclaimed dividend beyond a certain number of months and must have to transfer this to a third party investment manager. However, i believe they will reach an accord with United Capital on how to share investment income from here.

In all i do not believe the fair price quote i am seeing this morning are realistic, but like they say, every mallam with his kettle.

It is not good enough when I see Finance charges for the 1st time in the financials. No explanations as to what the fund was used for. Transcorp Hotels was borrowed 3.9b in the year. Something is not just right.
Tony don start again, I remember about 4 years ago when his company was paid N100 million by APR as fund management charges.

Wait for dividend and your dividend will attract witholding tax of 10% and you will be locked in for few more weeks/months because of price mark down.

Sell now and take a charge of 1.8% to 2% NSE/SEC/Broker fee and buyback after price mark down if you love the shares so much.

Easy decision.
Noted sir, like i said, final decision rests on me as the CEO of my portfolio. Thank you

Good results from investment income but core business was flat. Poor dividend!
My Oga I think the decline in income from their core business was expected given the recently planned complete shift to e-dividend. ...and so earnings from this end was bound to drop.
However the company did state their plan to diversify into other investment income stream which necessitated the name change from African prudential registrars to African prudential plc as at the time.
Again to help cushion the expected slight drop in core business earnings, the company also beefed up its profit pursuit drive by launching a personalized registrar platform for shareholders using the ussd code.
I believe that core income will improve as some of this positive technological business advancement comes to bear.
Let's not forget that this coy also owns over 6% of the total OS of UBA.
In my veiw, AFPRUD is still a BUY at current price. ...my fair price remains N8.40k.

However like I said ealier, investors especially dividend hunters might punish the stock in the very short term.
...but this will only help transfer wealth to the value investors in the mid to long term.
We await Mr TIME to do his thing. ...our intention shall be to pick up our usual 2 Afolabi units if it comes down to our comfort zone. wink cheesy grin
