Pls help a brother. How is the best possible way to reject an employment offer after initially accepting it. I have to reject it because after I tendered my resignation in my present place of work, I was given a promotion to match the employment offer I got.

But seriously, i think you should go for the new job, apart from giving you the opportunity to explore, why did your present coy have to wait till you resign before promoting you?

Go for new opportunity and gain more experience. Your old company are playing games you might not win if you don't move fast.

A lot of pple are getting it wrong. My present conpany ddnt wanit for me 2 get another offer before promoting me. My promotion isn't due till June. They only brought it forward and added some naira to match the other offer. Shikena

They gave u promotion to match the new job cuz they want you to stay..Defintely they need you cuz of what you can offer.So call those in charge of the new one and tell them exactly what happened,in future they will gladly accept you if there is vacancy cuz they sure will know for your current company to promote you,you gat substance ..But if you just neglect them,your face or your name might be marked and tagged unserious and irresponsible.

Tell them that you're not dead yet, in your country only the dead are employed.

bro I like your game,the solution is just so simple use the same tactics u used for your present firm or company,tell them your company knew about the gotten employment and decided to promote you,even tell them your salary has been tripled and who knows they might even decide to beat that offer,you are the fisherman here bro,just swing your net in flow of the current.

HOPE THE PROMOTION IS NOT FOR YOU TO LOOSE THE OTHER JOB. JUST SAYING.

I used to have a former employer who was in the habit of promoting anyone who tendered a resignation letter. He would match and even exceed the offer from the new job, and when he's doubly sure your position at the new place must have been filled, he'd sack you with immediate effect!
I almost fell into the same trap if not for the timely manner in which I got this information.

It's not normally a good idea to stick with a company after you've tendered your resignation letter even if they offer you increased pay. They might have offered you the promotion so that they would have enough time to get your replacement before they eventually let you go, at which point you would have nothing to hold on to.

does your present place of work have job sustainability? why did your present employer refused to promote you until you got another job? please do your calculation n home work well before taking decision that you may later regret.. I have seen organizations that later fired their staffs after luring them with promotion and making them to reject job offers.

I once found myself in the same shoe. I expected my old employer to place me on my deserved level. To their shame, I got a new appointment placing me on the cadre I had long expected from my employer. Immediately, I tendered my resignation. When asked why I wanted to leave, I told them my mind and they swiftly placed me on the same cadre as the new employment.

Of course, I'd be stupid to stay. I'd rather accept the new appointment while the offer lasted. I foresaw a repeat of the same scenario when I'd be due for the next promotion. Besides, my old employer might decide to 'punish' me indirectly for wanting to leave.

My advice: Accept the new offer if it places you on a new level.
