Lol, there are many dialets in yoruba land. Even Akure north and south that are too close have different dialet. Dialet is not language. In all dialet in yorubaland, all yoruba names has same meaning in all the dialets. Get that. Not the one onitsha igbo call something forest but other igbos has no meaning to it.
Don't be too fast there, Igbo language has so many dialects and some words in some have other meanings in others.
For instance, tukwuru nga in Owerri dialect means sit down here but tukwuru or tukwulu in Anambra/Enugu dialect means to squat.
Olisa is a common name among Delta, Imo and Anambra people but the Osa(reduced to sa) is actually linked to Osa the Bini people are used to, names like osazuwa, osaretin etc comes to mind and there are dozens of words used in the Awka dialect that is alien to the Abakaliki or Owerri man or may have a different meaning in their dialect.

Why will I take ignorant fool from Osogbo.

the past few weeks, you would have noticed across the major roads in Lagos – Ikorodu Road and the Third Mainland Bridge – there are banners on the dividers announcing a kaleidoscope of Nigerian successes who count Lagos as either their major influencers or their base.

It’s an exhaustive – and inspiring list – including everyone from Aliko Dangote, through Jimi Agbaje to Funke Akindele. Of course the trio Lagos’ elitist governors make the list – Bola TINUBU, Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode – whose government continues to kill and maim the people who live in Otodo Gbame.

We noticed something weird, apart from the fact of only about six women making the long list. So we took our careful time and went back to both roads and counted each and every of the banners.

We could only find one Igbo person.

There are loads of Yoruba, and some form the North of Nigeria. But across the length and breadth of the list, only one Igbo person – Jim Ovia. And of course there are those that will recall that this token person is actually from Delta, which is South South.

The only other person from the South South or South East is broadcaster, Soni Irabor.

What an amaze.

Not one Igbo person.

In a country where Igbos are powering Surulere. Where Idumota and Alaba and Ladip, where commerce is driven by this same group of Nigerians. A state where all major banks are mostly chaired either by a South Easterner or South Southerner.

We prefer you achieve your successes in Anambra grin grin grin

I did not say we have the same language. None of you have given me the meaning to those names in igbo land.
You do not understand the Igbo language and the different dialects it has and how they all relate.
A word in Asaba could mean something else in Ohafia or pronounced differently.
Figure one (1) is pronounced owvu in Awka dialect, ofu in Idemili Anambra dialect, ovu in Onitsha dialect and otu in some other dialects, the ones I know, there could be others.
You should understand that the Igbos didn't engage in much wars those days, they were republicans and mass migration to other regions was not like in Yorubaland where there was constant wars and mass migrations leading to a constant mixing of different dialects.
So Ovie in Agbor could have another meaning in Owerri or Awka and pronounced differently.

Hmm, HiddenShadow, Nonaira3. Are there Hausas/yorubas who really speak fluent Igbo, up to the extent of differentiating dialects? Cos, damn, this guy whom you guys claim is not Igbo, understands the language quite well.
