you are a fresh graduate with no experience and you are still picky, instead of you to grab the job so you can boost your work experience. 60k is 3times the minimum wage in nigeria. Its not the best, but its okay to cater for your feeding and transport while you get the needed experience to apply for a better job

Thank God for the offer but I have my reservations

1. Where is the location in Abuja?

2. Have you considered accommodation?

My brother the number one thing in Abuja is accommodation .

You get accommodation for 400,000 to 750000 depending on location, and what the average salary earner in Abuja does is to get an apartment around Karu site, nyaya and nasarawa

Now my brother do the calculation yourself

60,000 for 7month is 420,000 and agent 30,000 = 450,000 . this means that you would be working for your organisation for free for 7-8 months and 2 months salary would be for transportation and feeding. Meaning the highest you can save in a year of working is 100000 , which is actually not bad for a fresher BUT THE TRUTH IS ANY JOB YOU ARE DOING THAT WOULD COST YOU MORE THAN 2-3 MONTHS SALARY FOR ACCOMMODATION IS NOT A GOOD JOB.

Depends on what angle you are looking at it from. In terms of accommodation and transportation and cost of living in abuja, 60k is going to constitute a problem for you because it's nothing .from that angle,I'd say don't do it
But looking at it from the angle of ' no jobs in naija', I'd say go for it

I was personally looking for this thought... Because to be honest, it is nothing.

If he pays for accommodation with his three months salary, then spend roughly 40k months for feeding, transportation and utilities, biko how much will this experience be worth after one year of slavery.

Wouldn't he do better if he venture into a profitable business or skill-up himself?

Again, he knows better, and if he has an already existing accommodation, and perhaps some incentive to ease the daily expenses, then he may grab the opportunity.

I understand the Op's position. When we were serving we thought after service we would land our dream jobs. In the oil and gas lol. We were optimistic and not realistic. After service 1st year went no job, 2nd yr same and if not for God, we would have been blown away by the whirl wind of no job.

Remember after service no pocket money from parents to shave beards, buy beard oil for beard gang and starch ur shirt to karki. Na U don graduate make we concentrate on your younger ones u go de hear.

Man u no need advice, make ur choice at the end you should be happy with it.

I would say accept it for now. You can still continue searching another job.

However, do your research on accommodation and transportation cost. I'm sure from asking folks on here you can get an idea of the going rate in different areas of the city. But to make your search easier, use your place of work as a reference point and factor in travel time, cost and rent from different areas to your place of work.

You could also look at the option of renting a room, sharing a flat etc.

There are other cost effective ways to manage transportation, you could get yourself a bicycle and cycle into work. Voila! No traffic or fuel worries.

As long as the job covers your anticipated outgoings with a bit left over for your basic needs, go for it.

For a start is okay that's if you have a place to stay for free, but to rent a room in the city won't be that easy o unless in the suburb.

Do you think you have actually given any advice here?
Re: 60k Job Offer In Abuja With Training Inclusive.. Good Or Bad? For A Fresh Grad by SmartyPants(m): 8:38am On Mar 08, 2018
Bro the answer to this question is very simple. Sit down and carry out the following exercise:

Step 1.

Tabulate the costs involved with moving to Abuja, including rent and feeding and everything else. Compare with your salary. Can your salary sustain you in Abuja? If yes, move to step 2. If no terminate immediately. If expenses are matching your income then ask yourself if there are any intangible benefits to be had here. For example, what will you gain from the training? Is the firm a prestigious one? Are you likely to get a promotion any time soon?

Step 2.

What are the opportunity costs of moving to Abuja? What will you miss out on? How might these other opportunities compare when you perform the basic financial analysis carried out in step 1?

You now have enough data to determine whether the move is financial okay for you, and whether or not it is the right move for your career.

No one can answer these for you.
