I know what am saying,if the man happens to be a public figure or a wealthy person in the society, they wouldn't treat him like a trash. Those people that took him to the hospital probably knew that he was still breathing. Some doctors can be heartless.

Is it proper for a doctor to certify a patient dead at the entrance of hospital gate?
there's nothing wrong with that, I personally took a patient to a hospital and when the doctor came he just checked the patient right inside my car and certified her death and I took her mortuary.

Something is definitely wrong with our Healthcare system in Nigeria. I get it that medical people here have are defending the action of the hospital but my question is this. Would the hospital have treated Yusuf Buhari like that even if the blind can see that he is dead. Would they have confirmed if he is alive at the gate of the hospital? If the answer is No. Then this country is not for all of us.

Bashing medical doctors and hospitals is a norm on NL. If they're not 'raping' patients, they're accused of negligence of duty or worse still, outright murder.
Why don't you all transfer your frustrations to the appropriate quarters: the FG that has refused to make your lives better.
What's the difference between checking him inside or outside, knowing the antecedents of patients' relatives who are quick to blame the hospital after spending all their money on quacks and unorthodox herbal patent dealers.
Now I see why madness is not time-specific. People can just wake up and continue from the previous day. No difference.

Ask me o..It's obvious they didn't want the patient to enter the hospital. Why should a Doctor certify somebody dead outside the hospital? Somehow the accusation is not absolutely out of place. Let the hospital management go and sit down.

It is even wrong to treat anyone like that.
The hospital could have offered to take the corpse to a nearby morgue with their ambulance. Just something to show empathy.
And moreover, even if he was dead before arriving at the hospital, people won't just conclude, they will try their luck by verifying.

Most likely that child was still alive when he certified him dead with his bare hands. Victims as this sometimes have very low pulse and require a defibrillator to jolt thier pulse....as far as am concern the said hospital is guilty.....Our medical institutes are very careless and don't have value for life. That child should be accessed in the emergency ward with all the possible equipments connected to monitor all his organs. You guys kill the boy jor!

PRESS RELEASE:

MALICIOUS, UNSCRUPULOUS & UNVERIFIED ALLEGATION MADE BY SEGUN ARINZE AGAINST DOREN SPECIALIST HOSPITAL AJAH

The attention of our organisation, Doren Specialist Hospital Ajah, has been drawn to the malicious, unscrupulous, and unverified statements and images made by Mr Segun Arinze and shared by him on his social media handle in respect of a man whom he falsely alleged was refused medical attention by our hospital.  The facts of the matter are:

1. The said man was rushed to the hospital on 21st February 2018, at about 11 am by a group of people who gave a history that he was electrocuted.

2. A doctor from DOREN Specialist Hospital promptly assess the man and certified him DEAD AT PRESENTATION.

3. The people who brought him were informed that the man was dead and were advised to take the man to a morgue since the hospital does not run mortuary services.

4. The people who brought the dead man rather than take the corpse to the morgue, resorted to create a scene and disrupt the operation of the hospital
Please note that We at DOREN Specialist Hospital as a point of duty, attend to all emergencies as they present and do not put cost as a prerequisite for first aid treatment to be administered.

Having said this, our media team and some concerned (unbiased and truth loving) Nigerians swung into action to address Segun Arinze’s post on his page and he took it down.  We even engaged him privately to address his post but he turned to say that he is a public figure, we should talk to him on the public post.

Now that he has taken the post down, we are still battling with the ripple effect created by this unverified fake news.
To this effect, we demand that:

1. Segun Arinze should return to the same channel used to spread this fake news and tender an unreserved apology to the management and staff of the DOREN Specialist Hospital.
2. That at the same time he should publish his apology in the online media platform and at least two National newspapers.
3. That he reaches out to all the social platforms who are within his reach, who had re-posted and re-tweeted his fake news to withdraw their posts and tell the true side of the story.

He probably rushed out thinking it's an emergency, on checking he noticed the man was dead on arrival.

i was not there and you were not there, we only make assumptions with what we read.

one thing you should know here is that taking the supposed patient in won't change the fact that the man is dead, and secondly this is Nigeria the people who brought him might think they have done all they can by bringing the supposed patient to the hospital, and should they take him in and later certified him dead you won't see anybody around there for the corpse again. if peradventure they decided to take the man in and later started giving you some bills for the services rendered after certifying him dead how will you feel? so I feel in my opinion that since the man is dead there's no need taking him in again.

You people are the problems with Nigeria. This attitude is just a ploy by hospital management go exempt themselves of further responsibility. In a saner clime, the hospital gates are opened to EVERYONE first even if dead. As long as the body is transported to the hospital, the gate should first accommodate the victim.

how do you as a doctor satisfy one dead without running a proper check on him with equipment... he might be unconscious, they should have run a check on him, did they run CPR to ascertain if the person is not breathing or does not have a pulse... I always give up in Nigeria doctors

Bros, for the Doctor to have certified him dead upon presentation, simply meant no pulse or heart rhythm was detected.
Why conduct CPR on a dead patient?
