Why not? The church should be about the people, not personal private jets.

Aha! At bolded. But the same churches fraternize with big politicians. One pastor is even in the presidency as VP! Yet they cannot tell their politician friends and big money donors about their political duty to the masses.

Maybe you will ask "must pastors tell politicians to do their job?"

Well if pastors cannot stand for the poor like Jesus did, then they have no business being pastors.

Ermmm............church money belong to the people paying tithes & multiple offerings too.

Therefore politicians & pastors are just too sides of the same coin.

I don't have an opinion on the VP yet, but in his defence, it's more than a one man Job...
Are you expecting him to lead a revolution?
Should he rather spike the drinks of the other corrupt politicians?

Or what were you expecting from him?

Jesus stood for the poor but still respected constituted authority(that's a lesson on it's own)...

Let your conscience remind you that the missionaries that brought Christianity to Nigeria also came with education, hospitals, agricultural produce and other basic amenities. All these were other people's money, you know!!

Let your conscience also be cleared that Christianity nd free education was introduced to Africa nd nigeria in particular by philanthropist nd missionaries to compensate Africans after centuries of untold suffering brought to them tru SLAVE TRADE. Another reason was also for Christianity to av a foothold in Africa considering d rapid advancement of islam in Africa, thus "ELEMENTARY" education, and other basic amenities was a instrument used in achieving this.

So dnt just rush to air ur bias nd one sided view about things u dnt knw in public.

Real Christians don't flaunt charitable works...
That's the only thing that gets me skeptical about TB Joshua.
Matthew 6:3

The church isn't accountable to anyone...
If you don't want to pay tithe or offering, then by all means, don't pay...the church will still strive.

What % of Abeokuta city has comfortable public transportation?
Is tap water available throughout the city?
What of electricity 24/7?
Are all children enrolled in school?

What is the likelihood of 50% utilisation of the building where they want to worship God who is Omnipresent
Are we serious or we are seriously unserious?

I still don't understand how Africans suddenly became more religious than the Whites/Arabs who brought Christianity & Islam to us,to the extent that we are investing so much in building church cathedrals and mosques everywhere, while the Whites/Arabs are investing so much into research, I.T and creating job opportunities. The people who brought these religions to us, do not spend their entire lives in churches/mosques,but live sane lives in sane and organized environments befitting of humans. Africans who copied these religions, spend so much time in places of worships, create so much noise while performing our religious rites but the continent is so backward and undeveloped. We are the ones who know God more and worship him more. Yet,we are the ones living like animals. This is the irony of the black race.

Reading some comments here, actually amazes me. I just finished watching a video on Facebook, where a white man was talking about how the whites are more intelligent than the blacks and most comments here, just validates that statement.

I see your point... You think the Arabs aren't religious, think again...

But the crux of the matter be say no be church go dey do I.T. and research na...
That's left for the government...

Our problem as Africans is stupidity in choosing leaders and a backward sense of entitlement...
Nigerians would rather vote a person who gives then 1 pack of bottled water than a person with a track record of functionality.
We vote based on tribe/religion rather than what the individuals have to offer...

Then on sense of entitlement, some people feel they are better for a position(because they want to 'chop national cake') and they'll kill to get there; this is particularly why my dad is avoiding politics...

So, it's worthy of note that Africa's/Nigeria's problems aren't from the Churches/mosques but from within; it's a mindset issue...

We are born to hate and be corrupt as Nigerians...
How then can we move forward

Lol. So speaking on behalf of the poor now means disrespect? Not. Fact is you cannot condemn what you are part of. You cannot be talking when you're eating.

Several politicians are pastors or deacons or evangelists or mallams.
Some even build big buildings and donate to religious groups.

Going back to respect, John The Baptist faced the authority of Herod and chided him of his wrongdoing marrying his sister-inlaw.

Jesus challenged the Shenanigans of the Pharisees & Sadducee. Both paid the price.

Surely, with private jets to cruise in, Otobos of this world to hammer from behind, politicians to frolic with and all the wealth money can buy to enjoy, who will risk saying the truth to authorities these days? grin cheesy cheesy grin

What exactly is the purpose of the church?..... to compete with the world in gathering earthly possessions and vanity? Is this the kind of 'works' Jesus would support?...in the midst of such widespread poverty and suffering? Signs of the times.

This is just the beginning...
Christianity/Godliness should never be associated with dirty, ugly, smelly, old things...

If you like be 100000000% modest, there's never guarantee of heaven...

There's poverty everywhere because the rich worship God more in spirit and in truth and He keeps blessing them more and more...

Even if the poor pay tithes and offerings, do they really worship God?
That's the question.

Pls note that the aim of the church is to further everything related to the church. People who give to church don't give to church to "improve" Nigeria but the Gospel. So pls channel your frustration to your elected govt officials who are responsible for improving Nigeria.

If you want churches to improve Nigeria, then let's hand over the VAT, Pet Tax, CIT, PayE, Wharf etc to rccg or lfc church because the way it looks as though the churches are managing themselves better than how govt is managing our lives.

Since you've been building church, has Nigeria got better? How has the version of the gospel you preach in your business centers benefited the country?

Yes, at least we have better schools by the churches for the benefit of the country...after all, what ever achievements a school like Covenant University makes will be tagged Nigerian...
They have constructed roads without requesting a dime from the state governments...

How has Nigeria improved since 1960?

Can you mention the roads you have constructed? The only church that had ever constructed government roads is Deeper Life.

Maybe you want to tell me if kids of the poor can ever access the education you provide in those universities

For your information, your universities and church buildings only benefit one person: the GO!

At first bolded, I'm just learning that you were the body guard to the god of men when meeting Otobo. Which part is a lie? That he finished behind always or only sometimes? grin cheesy grin

At second bolded:

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 16:25

Whoever loves his life will lose it, but whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. John 12:25

So you mean because there is too much money, fun and owambe these days, these Bible verses are no more valid? shocked shocked

Not surprised because Nigerian Christians mostly go to church for the razzmatazz and prosperity preaching. Hoping one day to be rich like their GoM. They carry the Bible about but even when they read they will not assimilation what the message is. Way too worldly.

They forget that these days to be insanely wealthy you have to perfect your scam. Be it politicians, yahoo boys, oil subsidy businessmen, industrialists (tax avoidance & monopoly via political cronies) pastorpreneurs, etc.

A jet is a necessity at a point in time, if the church can afford it, then what's the problem?
People can never be satisfied(even if Adeboye flies first class in a commercial airline, all of you will still complain).

They have busy schedules and usually need some relaxation before the next appointment, remember they never travel alone...so by the time you calculate the price of first class tickets for him and the rest travellers, then multiply by the number of trips the make in a year you'll understand...

All you said here na dust! When does the church become a business organization/corporation that acquires luxury assets for leaders' usage? undecided
In what way or manner have they led by example (by showing our so called politicians how to be socially responsible) by building public infrastructures within the local communities their 'business corporations' operate.. since they're now being given the preferential treatment given to company's CEO and executives?

So the old days Christians didn't preach the gospel without the frivolities, right? Paul the Apostle did majority of his preaching the prison without any excuses whatsoever. Again, like I mentioned earlier... keep basking in your ignorance. shocked

The ridiculous amount ends up in the tithes and offering bag of the church.
