Ladies and Gents, I have been following this thread for some time trying to understand the trend of discussion. I discovered that a lot of high level language is being used and I am lost most of the time. I also noticed that a lot of the traders here are on short time trades trying to identify upswings and key into them.

I am a novice who was burnt in the stock market crash of a few years ago. I just want to identify two or three companies that have good fundamentals and growth potential that I can invest in and sleep with both eyes closed.

I will be very happy with a 25% share price increase returns by end of the year i.e. a one year time frame.

My ogas kindly help me o....

Was trying to do a research on IPOs of select stocks on the exchange , how they fared a year after the IPO in terms of percentage increase/decrease.

The plan was to compare the results of those who made significant gains or losses, see if they had anything in common and how the common denominator can be extrapolated to this MTN IPO and subsequent ones in years to come.

Unfortunately, most of the information I needed were quite difficult to come by. One good example was how I couldn't get specifics of the first IPO by GTB in 1996 after turning the www inside out.

Makes me wonder how people whose job it is to carry out researches manage in this country of ours.

Hello house,

Any information on who sold the 1.1b units of Access?

Any information on who brought the scary FBN offer volumes of over 300m?

I believe the two events must be linked to one seller.
the south african investors sold the access units on behalves of their minority share holders

fbn holding was bouhtg by inside traders

The total units traded on fbnh on Friday was 13,166,951
That entity was never gonna sell. He/she/they just placed that 307 million units 12.40 to create panic. At a point the unit was reduced to 100 million.
I don’t know what was the aim but fbnh went from 12.15 it was trading at that time before that huge offer was placed to close at 11.55 (-2.53%).

I’m sure nothing was sold from that huge offer

When it comes to stock market you can't say you will invest and go to sleep because it is very risky. Even if your objective is long term, periodic monitoring of your portfolio and keeping abreast of developments on key economic drivers is still required.

I will rather advise you wait for most companies to release their end of the year results first before committing your funds. However, if you must invest now the likes of lafarge, honey well flour, flour mills and DF are okay.

Due diligence is seriously advised.

If you do not understand the language used here let alone the market itself I honestly don't think you should be investing you hard earned money for now , you would only likely get burnt again and again. Take time to understand the basics , the discussion here may then make some meaning to you when you read them and hence you may be able to identify your own picks.

I may give you some picks now and forget to tell you when I am exiting.

Please don't take this as a condescending remark , just a brotherly advice.

As per the first bolded; the issue of difficulty with the language codes here confronts every newcomer alike. All you need do is to keep looking critically at the context in which any code is used and you'll get it after few attempts. When I first joined this house about 5 months ago as a fresher it did not take me much time to discover that DD, Jijo, jijoist, MM and IGG respectively mean Due Diligence, jump in jump out (i.e. bargain hunting), bargain hunter, Market maker and Initial gra gra. Though I am yet to know what exactly "Janet" is used to mean here, believing I soon will.

As per the second bolded; you obviously got discouraged and exited the market for some time due to being burnt by that market crash. The truth is that we all were burnt by that same crash with some of us suffering even second and third degree burns but refused to withdraw like you did, and through the ensuing experience got better equipped on how to identify potential short term upswings as you observed.

For the third bolded; you seem to be very modest in approach to life to be looking at 25℅ profit in a whole year. However, you have been advised to look the way of DANGOTE FLOUR and SUGAR, FIDELITY, FBNH and some few others doing really well if that is your purview.
Lastly, the most deadly mistake anyone would ever make in the Nigerian investment environment is to share the belief that there are stocks he can buy and then go and sleep. Please perish that perception. You are likely to wake up and discover that you missed several opportunities to make a life changing profit while you were asleep.

If you say multi billion naira sales, people will not understand it well.

Access has outstanding units of 28.93b and 1.1b units was sold. This is 3.8% of the bank.
