Okay, so sometime ago we organised an IELTS listening webinar for some guys on this thread and the feedback was really good. Now, we've got some more time on our hands and will organize another this Friday (tentative). Date will be confirmed tomorrow. If you want to join in, send me a PM and I'll book you in. It's free. The idea is to touch on cool strategies for listening and hopefully also reading and writing. Joining instructions will be sent to the email with which you PM. Holla, if interested smiley

I am interested. Cornucopiacc@gmail.com

Glory be to God!!! My Father and my Redeemer...

This journey started Jan 2017 when I wrote IELTS and got (9,8.5,7.5,7) in LSRW in one sitting and I was like wow by June 2017 I’ll be in Canada (LOL).

But ECA did me strong thing, getting my LL.B transcript took about 4months as some years of my result was missing. It was not even funny at all. Lucky for me, I live in the town where I schooled so every week I’ll go to follow up. Sometimes even twice in the week... Eventually we had to go to my faculty to manually retrieve result from handwritten mark sheets submitted by the lecturers as at 2003/2004... imagine the pile of dust and all... But after 4 months we got finally sorted out the compilation of Transcript and sent to WES. All the while my foreign MBA had been evaluated (I did not know I could just do highest qualification only).

My ECA came in July 2017. I quickly dived into the pool... got ITA and submitted August 13th. August 30th I got ADR for Travel History Form, I submitted and the next day my application was cancelled for not including UK PCC.

I went back into the pool on the 1st of Sept and applied for UK PCC. I got ITA first week in September and submitted 18th September 2017. See my timeline below:

AOR- 18th September 2017
NA2- 2nd October 2017
FTD- 7th November 2017
IP2/ADR-16th February 2018 (Height &Eye colour and Bio Data pages)
PPR mail - 26th February 2018

Passport sent to Accra - 26th February 2018
Received in Accra - 28th February 2018
PUM- 12th March 2018
Approved - 13th March 2018
COPR- 15th March 2018
Left Nigeria - 20th March 2018
Arrived Alberta- 21st March 2018

Some highlights of my Application (major thanks to the wealth of information shared on this platform):
*the 2nd attempt was more straight forward as I moved spouse’s Experiences to personal history
*i uploaded documents for only jobs I was claiming points for, moved the others to personal experience (In previous application I uploaded letters for all previous jobs cumulatively over 9years and my present one which is self owned Firm)
* my LOE was one page and more straight forward (the first had over 4pages)
* I notarized the letter from spouse saying money in his account was for our immigration purpose and that I had access to it. Basically the entire POF was spouse’s.
*i added ielts, ECA to education certificate (I dint do this for the first).

I give all the glory to God, what started like a dream has become a reality... I don’t even know how to express my gratitude... my application has its lows and delays but through it all, my Visa officer was like an angel. He replied all status enquires politely and continually gave me hope through it all...

Also, please if you are on LinkedIn, ensure your profile is updated and accurate just as you filled in your e-APR. when i was told that my background check was ongoing, I noticed my profile was checked by “ControlRisks” a UK based firm that also handles immigration security, travel security, etc. I doubt this was a coincidence.

Finally, don’t be afraid to reach out to your Visa Office with any enquires, requests or plea as the case may be. I needed my Passport stamping expedited and I wrote to London after getting PPR, and honestly it’s the best decision ever made... My Visa Officer took it upon himself to ensure Accra stamped the passports in a timely fashion...He would even mail me from time to time to ask if it had been stamped and eventually mailed to tell me it was stamped and would be delivered same week... hence why I got PUM before approval (Please don’t abuse this privilege except you have genuine reasons for it, so we don’t ruin the chances of others with real emergencies)

The kind of favour I experienced through it all, it was definitely God at work.

I made some amazing friends too especially @bigfido and @mrsda. Thanks also to @feygbe and all those in the August and September WhatsApp group, the LVO group as well as the Post-PPR groups... the journey would have been incomplete without you all.

May God bless you all and may all our dreams and aspirations become valid!!!

One love!!!

Congratulations to the PPR recipients.
Please I have a question. The dates in my employment period as filled on my express entry profile are different from what I have on my reference letter. For example, Express entry profile says Dec 2013 to Jan 2015, while reference letter is Jan 2014 to Jan 2015 (my employer counted from date of resumption, while I counted from date I got acceptance letter there for PPA). Either ways, it does not detract from the 1 year work experience claimed but I am worried the date mismatch might be a problem, although it is written in the express entry profile online forms that no actual immigration decisions will be made based on information from the express entry profile questionnaire. Instead of going back to get a new reference letter to try to rectify this mismatch, is it advisable to just go with the dates on the reference letter in the e-APR?

Please, experienced input is much appreciated.

Why not edit your EE profile to mirror your ref letter? As long as it's still 1 year then you have nothing to worry about.

Hi Everyone, we received a request yesterday to submit our passport for COPR. We have 15 days from yesterday to forward the passports to ACCRA and our medicals will expire April 5th and we are require to be in Canada before that date.
Experts in the house, your guidance on how to handle the situation will be most appreciated.
I think you will only just require another set of medicals.

Hello all,

I'm a silent reader here. I just joined nairaland today to post my timeline. I was referred to this thread by a friend and I can honestly say that this forum is the best. I hope my timeline helps and encourages someone.

I'm a 35yr old specialist physician (family of 4)
Wrote IELTS with my hubby Oct 2016
Sorted out ECA/MCC issues Jan 2017
Found out I could join the pool by myself (honestly I was totally clueless) March 2017
Directed to this thread March 2017
First ITA with score of 461 March 2017 (sorry can't remember the date) Rejected it cos POF wasn't complete
Finally accepted 4th ITA with a score of 456 July ending(Had a birthday in July)
AOR- 27 Oct 2017
ADR- Travel hx for spouse-31st Oct 2017
Medicals passed-3rd Nov 2017
NA2- 11 Nov 2017
ADR-not needed Dec 7
Wrote to find out visa office- Jan 12
Reply- LVO Jan 9th
Requested for GCMS notes 13 Feb
IP2- 27 Feb
Got GCMS notes- 14 March
PPR-19 March

Notes
This journey was pretty long for me mainly due to lack of information on my part and the time taken to get my husband on board with the move.

I wanted to have a good amount above the required POF (didn't want any fluctuation story- so my husband and I waited to accumulate it from different sources wink). 90% went into treasury bills and the balance was in my account. I wrote a cover letter for the POF explaining the funds, attached a letter from my husband stating his transfers and days they were made and that it was towards the family's immigration dream, got a letter from my bank (but not CIC compliant) put in the treasury bills certificate and my statement of account.

I also had cover letters for my work reference in addition to LOE. I think it was from @dupsyshoo's post that I found the idea of cover letters and it just seemed to make sense to help guide the visa officer though your application.

I had had visa refusal from the UK which I appealed and won, ... so I go with the theory of UK travel/ refusal/stay history== London visa office

God has been involved every step of the way and the wait most definitely built my faith. I'm trusting him for a fruitful transition and I'm open to embracing the opportunities He brings them my way.

For everybody still waiting to sort out IELTS/ECA runs, receive ITA and PPR... God will surely perfect what He has started in you. Everybody's journey is different and yours will surely come to pass.

And to all the wonderful contributors, question answerers, troublemakers and my fellow silent readers may the Cannyland smile on us and favour us. Amen

Morning!!!
Get the person to write a letter of authorization for you to pick up, he/she should include your name and passport number, then sign.
So photocopy your passport data page and his/her own aswell.

That’s all.

Thanks for your response. That was the obvious first option I considered. However, I can't edit the EE profile as it displays a locked padlock symbol on every section and it says 'Transmitted" beside it. So I can only view my responses on the profile but cannot edit.

Good morning my people.

Quick Advice!

I know some of us might just be too lazy to edit a post when its too long, but its becoming ridiculous to see a whole page wasted with just one word: "CONGRATULATIONS"

Like really, I'm not stopping anyone from celebrating with others, but come on! You can simply just write the person's name and congratulate them.

This thread would soon be closed, and a new one would hopefully be opened. Lets all try to use this wisely

My humble opinion.

God bless us all with victory stories and praises to Him. Blessed day to us all.

Hi,

For those writing IELTS tomorrow, I strongly recommend you try and learn the correct spelling of as many words as possible but not big words like "islets of Langerhans" and co grin, just the common ones e.g "a lot" which I always join together or "grammar" which I confuse with "grammer".

You do not want to lose cheap marks over spellings.Plus "BC no go reason say you suppose add "s" or "a" make dem add am for you" .

For instance: I just learnt how to spell potato today after more than nine years of studying English. choi!!!
