Do they care?

Most have accepted their fates as third class citizens and nothing more. They just want to migrate to other regions and continue living.

The wicked politicians in the South East can't boast of any achievement. The only surviving structures are the few federal one left amd the only successful ones among them are the government workers.

Too bad.

hey, I av really traveled around this country. No be by mouth bro... In the east, those guys there are dam hustlers.. be it legal or illegal, they are hustlers to the core. I mean, forget all these rubbish online, even yorubas I meet daily usually use igbos as a example of people who hustle so much to make a decent life..

Now, the west u talk about, hope u are aware that many people there are Nigerians from other ethnic groups? Majority are igbos and hausas.

It was in Ibadan I saw people inheriting their great grand fathers' houses without renovating it.. in igbo land, houses and lands are seen as business. The major reason most south western states, excluding Lagos, have more brown roofs and dilapetated houses is because most of their youths are so comfortable with the way things are... I mean, travel to ibadan, from leventis, to iwo road, to Mokola, to Oke tonu, to Dugbe, etc, these are major towns in the city centre, they still have houses of great grand fathers and they av youths, i mean able body youths living there comfortably...

An average igbo man would av converted such places into serious business and pull down such structures.. I mean structures facing the major roads.. This is just an example..

At least i know ibadan very well. You get to Sango market, most of the shops that are big and doing fine are owned by igbos.. The city owners are mostly into sales of tomatoes, efor, agbo, etc on the floor. If u get to Queenslima market, over 90% of the main stores there are all owned by the igbos.. The computer stores, fashion stores, etc.. The igbos own these stores... go to dugbe markets, most of the main big stores there are owned by the igbos. Now, if u think im lying, please do visit these places i mentioned.

Unemployment among the igbos are very low. Why? I have never seen people like those guys before. The way these guys hustle in life, I never see. The yorubas offline use igbos as example of survivor.

Bro, forget the niaraland igbo vs yoruba nonsense, those guys from the east are something else. The above report is a general situation of the country. Im sure u will still attack this post shaaa.

state governments in East don't know how to woo investors. just to pay salaries and commission 1km road that won't last beyond the nearest rainy season.

identify mineral resources abundant in your state, travel to east asia with your team; china, Malaysia, hong kong and woo investor companies that have track record of mining those minerals. sign MOUs.

now, offer them adequate land for kick off as well as state security and those your 1km roads, boom!

they mine these resources, create wealth for youth and generate IGR for government.

or is it that governance looks easy from the outside than it is on the inside cause i don't understand why these people can't have this simple reasoning!

I love this idea.

Go to China, Hongkong, Malaysia and woo investors where people have two heads while you bum negroes have half head. Am I surprised that there is no mention of nor idea towards self-reliance? Then I remember...it is a negro thinking out loud.

You just wonder at their stupidity.

Go to their states , you'd see brown roofs everywhere with terribly poor people in their multitudes and you wonder how the so-called IGR is being generated.

According to the UN, the Southwest have the highest number of stunted children after the north. Proper Nutrition is a problem in that part of Nigeria, but of course they enjoy loud-mouthed empty chestbeating.

So because those Yoruba youths have not demolished their ancestral homes, to build one modern-age monstrosity, you feel they do not know what they are doing? undecided There are some folks who can kill, lie and maim in order to gain access to property that should be jointly shared, or used by all members of the family.

But it requires greater wisdom to think of the interest of others, when trying to deal with communal assets. Do you even know that most of those houses are jointly owned by descendants of such families, not just a single person?

In Abeokuta, I visited an old friend just on the outskirts of the capital. He hosted me in his grandparents' house. It was a sprawling edifice built of mud bricks but the roof had been changed, and the house was still rock solid and very neat. I asked him the same question, and his reply was instructive. sad

"It belonged to my great grandfather. It is our traditional homestead. Everyone has his own room within the place. It represents a valuable piece of our heritage. The courtyard where my grandfather used to sit, to adjudicate matters arising between his people is still there.

My great aunt still lives there with her grandchildren, the place where my uncle took refuge from the colonial masters is still there...if I pull all these down, I would be wiping out a great part of my ancestral history.

Besides, where would I send the residents of the house to, if I pull it down?"
shocked

His answer made a lot of sense to me. And I hope it makes sense to you as well....meanwhile this chap also has a penthouse in Victoria Island overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, where he lives with his wife and kids.

GoodGovernance:

The Chairman of Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh, opined that the unemployment situation in the region is a ticking time bomb, describing it as a social problem of immense ramifications which may see all-inclusive peace elude the nation, if not urgently addressed.

At a 2-day convention organized by the Owerri People’s Assembly, an apex socio-cultural, the Zinox Group boss, said: “The problem of massive unemployment facing the South East region is one that requires concerted efforts from the Federal Government and other stakeholders.

A situation, in which thousands of qualified graduates, most of them with upper class degrees, are still looking for their first jobs 10 or 12 years after leaving school, is highly worrisome. It is a suicidal situation; one that will potentially explode in disastrous consequences, if not immediately addressed.

“If you rely on statistics, there are over a million of such unemployed graduates in the South East. Having such a huge number of active yet unengaged youths concentrated in the region is a serious cause for concern and the Federal Government has a role to play in nipping this situation in the bud,” he stated.

While disclosing that a lot is being done by private individuals and entrepreneurs from the region to ameliorate the situation, Ekeh noted that this was grossly insufficient and urged the Federal Government to partner with such well-meaning Nigerians to achieve more.

“What is required is a joint effort to save our youths. In reality, the State Governments cannot do it alone.

Also, a number of entrepreneurs, businessmen and other well-meaning Nigerians from the region are equally doing their best but it is hardly enough.

Personally, I have been quietly supporting the Imo State Government for many years in creating employment opportunities for youths in various communities in the state.

These investments often exceed the sum of N1 billion yearly but it is like a drop of water in an ocean.
