@Gaby, this is for you.

Your story is interesting. I have read it all.

Now this is my input as a self published Author on Amazon and all the other self publishing platforms including prints on demand places.

First the covers. This one here is Okay. Better than the second. Will outsell the second by over 5x. Trust me on this.

The guy who did the cover is good. I will like to work with him and offer him some direction that will greatly assist him. Going to try and reach out to him. Hope he responds.

You can publish with Okadabooks for the Nigerian audience like I see you are already planning. As advised, try to get a lawyer to advice you and read through the contract with Okadabooks. For the Okada version, you can use a Nigerian name. It does not have to be your real name. Pen names are very common and acceptable in the publishing arena.

You can use the American name for the Amazon / International version.

Don't just limit your book to Amazon. That would be leaving money on the table.
You can sign up and publish the book via the link below: It is free to do so. And takes minutes to do.

https://www.draft2digital.com/oke

D2D will do the following for you.

They will publish your book on the platforms below:

iBooks (Apple books)
Barnes & Noble
Kobo
Playster
Scribd
Tolino
24Symbols
OverDrive

They will put your book on all these platform and only take 10% of your Royalty and pay you the balance. Believe me, this is cool. You can even make more through them than Amazon.

After you publish your first book, do not stop. Write other books. You can do Non Fiction and How to books. I see you got the talent of a Writer and will do well.

My 2 cents. Hope this helps.

I've gone and read through D2D and yes they'll publish on the partner sites you listed so long as you ticked those, their commission is 15% for publishing on their sites and another 30% as with holding tax for non US publishers..I'm sure there are other taxes too...

Thats what i understood from their t&c's,you might want to put me through some more seeing you must have been publishing with them.
thanks

Got this from D2D:

Hello,

In a non-US country that doesn't have a tax treaty with the USA, you'd have a 30% rate of tax withholding on your ebooks.

Our vendors that sell the book will keep approximately 30%, we keep approximately 10%, and you receive the remaining 60% back to you in royalties earned, however, as a non-US citizen, you'd only receive 30% (the other 30% is provided to the IRS in US Taxes. A $1 ebook would net you $0.30 in sales. A $5 ebook would net you approximately $1.50 in royalties earned.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Regards,

Tara

I suggest that you publish on Okadabooks. It is indigenous and you won't lose so much to tax.

You can also publish on Amazon to reach a wider audience.

Cheers!

gaby:

Thanks bro.Wouldn't have a story to tell if i had left those out so sure they are right there.

Being the subject of the narrative and having read and reread ,if i could nod in affirmation or go all suspended on my own story i'm pretty confident my readers will be wowed.
It came out as fine as i would want, witty and humorously entertaining yet very suspense filled and a story almost everyone of us can relate to as Africans Nay Nigerians.Thats what reality brings to the table i suppose.

I'm looking at self publishing on amazon but the little snag is Amazon will be withholding 60% of the book earnings in taxes and their share as Nigeria has got no tax treaty with the US.

I can actually handle this but thought to be sure to have exhausted every other options before proceeding,so incase you or anyone have an idea for an alternative route to pursue i'd love to be guided.

In the absence of any suggestions tomorrow at the latest i'll go ahead and publish on Amazon

Regards mate

The link is broken.

I searched for your name and this is what came up.
Do you have explicit Bleep scenes in your story? If you don't, there's no need for you to mark your story as Adults only.
