I noticed that too after reading a second time. I believe they meant 2019. But I have replied asking them to clarify that.

Many thanks.

Prettymi20:
Pls why are they saying Feb 9 2017 ( was this mail from last year?)

One can’t be too careful.
Thank you @tvegas too for your reply.

What do you know? LagosNIV just replied. Here’s the It mail below. Sorry for the lengthy post:

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Consulate, Lagos Nigeria.

Your visa is good until the day it expires. You can use it to request to enter the US until February 9, 2017. At the port of entry, CBP will then tell you how long you will be permitted to stay in the country. The visa for a visitor to the U.S. can expire while you are visiting the U.S, Further, you do not need a visa to exit the United States.

Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment. You should show the border protection agents upon arrival in the U.S. your detailed birth plan, which would include correspondence with your doctor, the cost of the delivery, any receipts showing prepayments for care and evidence that you have the ability to pay for all costs while in the U.S. up to and including your living expenses.

We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.

If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Sincerely,

Newmumi:
Hello House,

I was last here in 2015 after I had my first baby in the US. Then we were in Part 3 or so, it’s amazing to come back and find that we are now in Part 6. Good job to everyone who has kept this thread going.

There is a goldmine of info here and I have been reading slowly but still a long way from reading up everything which I intend to do.

But pls i’d like to make an enquiry. I know this question may have been asked and answered but becos of time constraints I’m yet to see it, so pls pardon me in advance.

I applied for a BI/B2 Visa in 2013 to attend an int’l conference. I returned after the conference and a yr later I got Preggy. Subsequently used the visa again in late 2014 to have my baby which came Jan 2015. I paid all my bills and had no issues.

In 2016, I applied for another visa to attend the same conference this time with my hubby. It was his first time, we were both granted visas and we travelled with our baby.

Now I got Preggy late last year and I want to use the same visa again to have the second baby. Baby is due Early Aug give or take 2 weeks and I intend to travel sometime in July. But the issue is that this visa expires mid Aug meaning that it expires while I’m in the US.

I don’t want to run foul of overstaying so my question is do I apply for another visa while this current one is still valid? Or do I take the advise of some pple off NL who says to just show up at POE and I wld be stamped in for 6months if I declare there that I want to stay 2months cos of childbirth?

I have written to the lagosniv email to seek guidance on how to proceed but yet to get any reply after 3days. Pls house, kindly advice so I can act quickly.

Many thanks in advance.

You are okay with your visa expiring while in the US.... what you should be worried about is to not stay beyond the date stamped on your passport by CBP Officer at the time of your entry. it is fine if it exceeds the date of its validity while you are still in the US.

" Q.14 My visa will expire while I am in the United States. Is there a problem with that?

No. You may stay in the U.S. for the period of time and conditions authorized by the Department of Homeland Security officer when you arrived in the U.S., which will be noted on the I-94, even if your visa expires during your stay." Source: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-gen-faq.asp#qlistgen14

And the time as come for Oakbend to join others.

I can authoritatively confirm that Oakbend has increased its fees by about 100% if you register and pay before the 36th week and even higher if you pay after 36th week. Epidural fees are nt optional again but however refundable for vaginal birth if not used. Hearing test is COMPULSORY now and included in their fee.

Thank God for the opportunity to have had 2 Oakbend born babies before this 'heart-paining" increase.

For more info, check Oakbend's website or ask your doctor.

Thank God I'm done with them

I called oakbend to ask for their prices, and was told it was now 5k something dollars for vaginal birth, I then told her but I was told $2,750 for vaginal birth, she asked who gave me that quote, I told her my doctor, DR Ezekiel , and she told me to bring the quote along with me to the hospital, am thinking she wants to honor the old prices for me because it was quoted to me before the increase, well I don't know, but either ways I already have an appointment with Dr xydas of HNWMC since I had my first there

Hi guys.

So my ticket to Nevada is over 800k. Am trying to see if i cam get there cheaper so thinking of 1st flying to Ny as there seems to be many promos now for NY. But am wondering, wots d POE like in NY for preggies?

Another qstn is ds, I wanna travel August ending. When would be the best time to do a change of intent email to the embassy? Is it too early?

Is it advisable to travel with my toddler? Am wondering how il take care of her in my 3rd trimester with little or no help. Tho am stayin with ppl theyl hardly be home cos they go to work. Can i leave a 3yr old for 2.5mnths? Will it affect her psychologically? Plus child flight ticket to nevada isnt smiling o.

Finally, so av read thru previous threads that once u get ur babys american passport no need to stress over gettin a nign passport or visa over there. I can just apply for a VOA amd get it when we get to MMA yea? The 190 dollars is paid at MMA right?

After a refusal you can't use Dropbox anymore. one of the preconditions for using Dropbox is that your previous application for visa was granted.

okay...so for those still looking for recent IAD POE experience...

Arrived Washington Dulles with my toddler via qatar airways. Flight was good...i had a whole row to myself on both legs so we pitched our tent there and my girl was able to sleep well. Please ensure to process ur medif as mentioned. In IAD, very very long queue...i used the express passport and within minutes was done and on my way out. I was surprised that no question was asked and while still wondering if what just happened was real, I heard an officer call madam from the back.
I turned and he asked how I got in, I told him his fellow just stamped me in, he brought me back to his desk. Another officer came and asked him why he called me back, he said he just got an info about me (in my mind i was like God pass una).
he checked my daughter's passport, gave it back to me and dropped mine in a red box. he handed over to me and sent me elsewhere....ur guess as good as mine. Almighty secondary...

The truth is I honestly don't know where the confidence came from, but I wasn't scared one bit. My toddler was running around and I kept chasing her with my big belle. After about 30mins, I was called.
CBP- how are you madam
Me - fine thanks and u
CBP - fine. how much did you pay for your daughter's delivery
Me - about 3200
CBP - no delivery in the US can be that cheap
Me - well, there is. I signed a self pay package that offers that amount if payment is made before discharge.
CBP - which hospital
Me - John H Stroger.
CBP - but you told someone in your flight that you gave birth for free
Me - Not at all, I even had a row to myself on both legs of the trip so I never discussed anything with anyone.
CBP - Why are you no longer using same hospital
Me - My host is on holiday
CBP - Which hospital will you be using now
Me - HC
CBP - Do you have a doctor
Me - Yes
CBP - How much do you have
Me - $$ and I have also paid my doctors fee in full
CBP - can I see the receipt
Me - oh sure, gave him
CBP - now come with me, we need to count the money
Me - (I followed to another room where he counted the money )
CBP - Make sure you take all your receipts with you on subsequent visits.
Me - okay. Thank you.

That was how I left the place to meet my host who was already waiting even before arrival of the plane. Bags not checked at all and that was it.

Quick one please, while traveling down to Nigeria with baby, does the baby's US passport need a Nigerian visa on it if the Nigerian passport can't be gotten (probably due to booklet shortage) or will the VOA suffice? Donno if I'm making sense tho or asking the right question undecided or "we" are just returning with US passport & VOA acceptance printout?

You will be issued with Visa on arrival when you arrive Nigeria Airport....just go with the VOA printout and have $190 dollars handy

Chai! They have now effected this price increase Dr fagbohun told me about. I was lucky to scale through...My baby came late Dec. Instead of late Jan and I was lucky to pay the old bill... I will miss this hospital. Their service is good and their nurses are nice.
When I put to Bed, My baby got so used to Oyibo fomula and refuse to suck...I was so depressed as a FTM, already given up on breastfeeding, it was one of their nurses that helped and ensure my baby latches well and start sucking. They kept following up on me. I wish our nurses here can borrow some leaves from them on the way to treat patients. I cannot forget oakbend nurses in a hurry
I just love those guys.

$190 cash or pay $180 with international credit card. If paying cash, they don't accept older (pre-2006) notes.

My wife got to Houston through IAH for another missionary journey few days ago. For those who fear Houston POE i don’t think they are that harsh these days. It was pretty easy for her.

Rewind back to MMA Lagos, some overzealous Airfrance officers saw her tummy and told her she won’t be allowed her to fly except she has a fit to fly letter from her doctor. That Airfrance only flies people below 32 weeks. She went to make a photocopy of the letter and gave them. They told her she will need the original in Paris (It’s better to have a photocopy handy). Paris was uneventful as the layover was short. She met a Houston bound nairalander who was heading to New York because she was fearful of the Houston POE. She helped her rehearse some of the questions they may ask her in New York and they parted.

Fast forward to her arrival at Houston POE, she was interviewed by a female CBP officer.

CBP: Hello what are you doing in the USA?
Madam: I am here on vacation, to birth my baby and do some shopping for the new baby.
CBP: Ok how much do you have?
Madam: Bleep dollars in cash and xxxx in the bank of America account. I have my debit card with me.
CBP: She smiled and asked her if she was pregnant. It wasn’t so obvious to her. She apologised to her that her documents will need to be checked at the secondary inspection but she shouldn’t worry about the process that it’s just a routine.

At Secondary Inspection: She was interviewed by an elderly male CBP officer.

CBP: Ok let me count the amount you have with you. He counted halfway and stopped. He returned the cash.
CBP: I can see you had a baby here before; Madam was preparing to present her file containing the receipts. The CBP officer said , I don’t need to see your receipts because your record here shows you are not owing.
Madam: Thank you
CBP: So after this baby, are you having one more?
Madam: This is the last baby we will be having.
CBP: You should have one more, you are still young. She said no, both of them laughed.
He asked who is picking her she responded. He asked if her husband will be coming, she said maybe later. He advised that she should make sure her husband comes to assist her. He wished her the best and stamped her in for 6 months. The whole interview lasted 3 minutes. Her bags and agriculture goods were not checked.

KEY POINTS
1.Whichever POE you decide to use the money available may go a long way to help. Declare a reasonable amount. Be fully prepared you never know what will be asked.
2.This has been said here severally, Always keep your story straight and Pay all your bills, they have your record and it’s not a joke. If you’ve gotten away with some sharp practises before, maybe they overlooked your wrong or they don’t want to bother digging. On one of our trips to the USA, a CBP officer at Washington Dulles collected our child’s past birthing receipts; we didn’t know he entered it into their system.

Good evening my people. Pls I need your urgent response

Pls for our mama who has traveled with Ba in the past, how did you get your ticket? I booked on ba.com and I was able to get a fare before calling their call center to make my booking after which a reference number was sent to me to go pay with at any GtBank.

But I noticed that their was a difference in price. the fare their call center quoted was more than what I saw on ba.com.

Please what will you advise me to do in this case because we will be adding an infant's ticket later.
