THE IMPLICATIONS OF GENERAL TY DANJUMAS COMMMENTS: THE DESTRUCTION OF NIGERIA BY CHRISTOPHER HARUNA HAMMAN

Over the weekend I did not have the time to take a look at the news as I always do due to the fact that I made new friends and was getting to understand them and their personalities (again as I always do). Only for this morning for me to wake up to check my e-mails and social media accounts to find out that one of our great legends and a national icon all by himself had addressed a group of young people at their convocation and within the address called on people to take up arms in the interest of self defense.

General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma is a legend all by himself. Agreed. However, he seems to want to destroy the very fabric of the country that made him so. The middle belt of this great country is the great uniting factor that bridges the divide between the conservatism of the north and the liberalism of the south. It is the very region that ultimately decides who wins or loses the presidential elections. It is the very place upon which the cradle of our national unity is birthed. Then you have one of the greats from that region call for the taking up of arms. One would then realize that we still have a long way to go in uniting Nigeria.

One obvious truth about the herdsman killings which cannot be ignored is that they employ guerrilla tactics in order to maintain an upper hand in the fluidity of conflict. As such, the balance of power when it comes to victory always lies in the hands of the so called herdsmen. As it is always with the rest of state when it comes to putting together an appropriate response to the newly formed menace, the government will take some time before results from all they are trying to do start to show.

One may fault the current administration on many things (which I do from time to time, just check my facebook wall), but not on security. The one thing that I have found to be quite impressive is President Buhari's commitment to the ensuring of the safety of lives and property of every Nigerian.

General Danjuma has just shot himself in the foot. This is because this is not 1980 or even 1998 that people will forget his statements in a hurry. This brings to the fore the issue of the Generals'minders and communications advisers. Were they asleep when he made those comments? He has just influenced a whole generation of young people to fight anyone that does not resemble them either in tribe, interest or religion and has forgotten that the great state of Nigeria owes its very existence to the unity in diversity concept that makes us the powerhouse that we are.

We cannot ignore the Nigeria becoming Somalia comment. We should not forget that it is words like these from people like him that cause the very scenarios that made such places to become known for the carnage and destruction that occurred. Nigeria is too big for anyone who has become like a living demigod to some to wake up one day and call for civil violence on a massive scale. Imagine if every person in Nigeria who can bear arms to have a gun, imagine what kind of destruction and waste to human life can occur on such a scale? The military is right on this one and the restriction of arms is not a bad thing in itself. It is for our security nationally.

Probably it is time for the General at 80 to take some time off to relax and enjoy his family. Such comments that fan the flames and embers of national disunity with the hints of insurrection and are not needed especially considering the fact that next year is an election year or is General TY trying to tell us something that we need to know politically? Is this what the General wants to be known for? A conflict creator?

Nigerias' future depends on the ability of Nigerians to believe in Nigeria. It appears that even the General has stopped believing in the Nigeria that made him what he is today. And many Nigerians were hailing his comments and supporting the bearing of arms by the general civilian populace. Only if they understood the very implications of those comments. That is when and where you hear things like mass genocide, civil war and so on and so forth. Anybody who understands the results of warfare would be careful to speak when talking about such things.

We as Nigerians should believe in the politics of ideas. Not one of tribe, religion or separatist sentiments. Imagine if the Northern Muslims and Southern Christian Generals and National Icons also call for the bearing of arms. What kind of scenario would that create?

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. United we stand. Divided we fall!

This is nothing but trash, a stuff and nonsense coming from a lunatic.
TY Danjuma spoke after years of silence and inaction plus the collusion of the powers that be. His advice is timely, welcome and commendable.
Whoever sees anything wrong in what he said needs his head examined.

lets put sentiments aside. If your brother is in danger of being killed by a known enemy, what advice are you going to give your brother? The Fg swung into action killed many defenceless ipob members and went ahead to tag them terrorists and today ipob is almost becoming a history but when the issue of Fulani herdsmen killing are being discussed, the fg is showing a non challant attitude towards the killings that are going on in almost every part if the country save the north west.
Again the army has been involved in situations that led to the suspicion. One of those victims of herdsmen attack in plateau state recounted on how they were led by the army to a so called safe place only to be attacked by the Fulani militia. We have had situation whereby the military bombed villages while claiming ignorance. General danjumas statement is born out of frustration. I situation whereby people are killed and those who are meant to protect them are no where to be found. In this case self defence is the only solution.
I wish the government can just allow us have guns in our houses. The worst situation a man can find himself is a situation whereby he is helpless in the face of is enemy.

Do you mean you need fg permission to have a gun in your house ?
That means you are not smart.
Better arm yourself so you don't regret the failure.

People talk shit....simply because of lack of knowledge and information.

Boko haram and herdsmen are all a product of the North, it is a northern Religious agenda.

A Northern political and Religious tool and a secret army by the North with the sole purpose of ethnic cleasening, systematically orchestrated to intimidate, kill, islamize, and colonize none Muslims and the South, they have the support of the Nigerian army.

So If your a soldier from the South and your killed by boko haram your a fool, you died for nothing, you are a waste to your generation.

If your loved ones have been murdered by herdsmen and all you can do is cry and run to Buhari for protection with out fighting back your are a fool.

If you allow Fulani herdsmen invade your land rape your women and kill you like a goat, your a waste.

If your from plateau state, Benue state and taraba state, and up till now you still don't have a gun or a means to defend yourself against the Fulani herdsmen, you are a fool and will die like a goat very soon.

Getting Guns is no longer a big deal in Nigeria, from locally made to foreign made is really affordable, you need it if your a none Muslim and a southern.

Have you ever heard of the 25th amendment in the U.S
Its about self defense.

Arm yourselves!
Arm yourselves!!
Arm yourselves!!!

Defend yourselves!
Defend yourselves!!
Defend yourselves!!!

It is your God given right.
It is better to die defending yourselves than to be slaughtered like goats without any effort to defend yourselves.

I love you!

Thank you. I know you truely love me by this. No time for dillydaling.

To say that the writer of above crap is a fool remains an understatement. What is wrong when people of a country embrace the idea of self defense? So Nigeria can only be great when Fulani headsmen freely roam about in certain section of the Nigeria and wantonly destroy lives and properties unchecked. What type of mentality has most Nigerians seem to expose? If Fulani herdsmen can roam about in Nigeria with Ak-47 and the so-called great nation did not falter, I do not see while the country will evaporate when individuals of none Fulani ethnicity roam around with AK-47.

General Danjuma has just shot himself in the foot.
ty dannjuma does not shoot themselves in the foot

This is because this is not 1980 or even 1998 that people will forget his statements in a hurry. This brings to the fore the issue of the Generals'minders and communications advisers. Were they asleep when he made those comments?
what would they have done
block his mouth on the high table?

He has just influenced a whole generation of young people to fight anyone that does not resemble them either in tribe, interest or religion
kai your mumu don do
he told them to defend themselves not fight

and has forgotten that the great state of Nigeria owes its very existence to the unity in diversity concept that makes us the powerhouse that we are.

nigeria owes its existence to lord lugard and the british empire

We cannot ignore the Nigeria becoming Somalia comment.
why not
we've ignored every other suggestion

We should not forget that it is words like these from people like him that cause the very scenarios that made such places to become known for the carnage and destruction that occurred.

Nigeria is too big for anyone who has become like a living demigod
theres a reason they called demigods
they are bigger in fact

to some to wake up one day and call for civil violence on a massive scale.
again,self defence not civil violence

Imagine if every person in Nigeria who can bear arms to have a gun,
they're far fewer than your rampant imagination thinks

imagine what kind of destruction and waste to human life can occur on such a scale? The military is right on this one and the restriction of arms is not a bad thing in itself.

nigeria dint make sht

And many Nigerians were hailing his comments and supporting the bearing of arms by the general civilian populace. Only if they understood the very implications of those comments.
fewre herdsmen killings

That is when and where you hear things like mass genocide,
already happening to the unarmed
don't hear you making meaningful suggestions

civil war and so on and so forth. Anybody who understands the results of warfare would be careful to speak when talking about such things.
anyone who understands what it means for your family to be slaughtered will not agree with you in the saftey of your GRA

We as Nigerians should believe in the politics of ideas.
we do
idea of self defence from killers

Not one of tribe, religion or separatist sentiments.
this is also an idea
why is it off the table
are you dictating ideas?better wake up

He was behind the Tiv jukun crisis
he was behind the various muslim/christian conflicts in the region.
My prayer is that may that killings he is advocating for start with his immediate family
may armed men murder and kill all his children and relatives
may armed men rape all the female members of his family
may all his wealth and houses be burnt down by armed men
may he never know peace in his remaining days .
