Hi friends!
I need large-size transportations in Canada (Toronto). Where it is possible to order such service?
We have found new house, it is necessary to move. I have found only Miracle Movers services.
It is the checked

Hi, you can also try Two Men and a Truck, they have online presence to get their details and rates. I also found this link online just now for you to check out, https://homestars.com/on/toronto/moving-storage?page=2&

In my case, I got a large U-Haul truck, a group of my friends and the move was done in 1 day. Drove the truck myself smiley

Hello house, please i have a question for our landed seniors. I have a science background but would like to branch into accounting. My destination is most likely Ontario, are there shorter courses or certifications I can do or do I simply have to go back to university ?

Hi Guys,

Please did any of you have to give your SIN number and passport details to get a phone line?

I was asked to provide my SIN number and also my passport ID details for identification as i do not have a driver’s licence.

Did anyone go through this?

Guys please, don't you ever give your SIN number to anyone, I repeat ANYONE.
Banks will ask you for your SIN number but what most of them won't tell you is that it is optional. You dont have to give your SIN to your bank. You can get a bank account, credit card, a loan without disclosing your SIN number to the bank.
You only give your SIN number to government agencies and your employer for tax purposes.

As for getting a phone line, you will need to provide some ID to the phone company. It could be the reason why you were asked for passport details. I wouldn't worry about that so long as I can verify it is a legitimate call. But as for the SIN number I don't even give it to my bank. You just don't give it to anyone

We have all made that mistake

Who did you give your SIN number to? I wouldn't worry about that if it wasn't a fraudster.
Just learn from the mistake and move on. Don't lose any sleep over that

Your information is safe with the bank and the phone company. Don't worry about that. Just don't do it next time.

We have all been there

Com'on bro.
Do you know how many people have legal access to your information through immigration database for example?
Are you going to worry about each one of them turning criminal tommorrow?
As I have said earlier, please don't lose any sleep over that

Ok, thank you Sir. Canada is much bigger than I imagined and easy to make mistakes here. is there any way I can get a hint if it is being used inappropriately especially for identity theft?

It is a good habit to check your credit record through agencies like equifax for example so that you can see if someone had tried to apply for a loan under your name.

Please bear in mind that all a person may need is your name, Date of birth, and home address to apply for a credit under your name.

Now, you can pay a credit agency to have a security place on your record that will prompt any lender to call your cellphone in case a loan application under your name is about to be processed. Or the person who is about to apply for a loan under your name may be asked three security questions that you will be the only one to know the answers to.

Credits is only a slice of what criminal can do to your identity. There are others activities they may do with your identity, just be safe. A person can get a driver license and even a passport under your name

Equifax Canada charges $20/month.
You can open a account with equifax so that you can log into their system to access your credit information anytime you want.
You can also get a notification each time new information has been entered on your record

Good day people, please how does Air bnb work? Have heard people talk about it on this thread about how helpful it was when they landed. I have someone that's about to land soon and he has no place to stay yet. Thank you!

Good day people, please how does Air bnb work? Have heard people talk about it on this thread about how helpful it was when they landed. I have someone that's about to land soon and he has no place to stay yet. Thank you!

Hi, AirBnB is an online portal where people who have homes/space in their homes can place ads on the site for people who need a temporary place to stay. For instance, one landlord could have a 3 bedroom place but only using 2 rooms, so such a person could rent out the third room on a short term basis and share the facilities in the house. Another person could have a basement apartment available to rent out. Some people have multiple homes they own and want to rent out the homes on short term. So depending on your need and budget, you can check AirBnB to see if any one has accommodation available that you could rent.

Where this works out for us new immigrants is that you can find a place that is already furnished where you can stay while you get all your landing formalities completed and then find accommodation for more longer term. Some people use AirBnB to find a place to stay for short landing and then return to Nigeria without having to sign any lease agreement. An increasing number of people also prefer AirBnB for when they vacation here so they can cook their own meals and enjoy more comfort and freedom than the formality of a hotel stay. There have been cases where landlords have established good rapport with some tenants and taken their homes off AirBnB to keep the tenant there so such tenant does not need to move again.

Let your friend register on AirBnB and begin to review the choices available that could meet their short term need for a place to stay. It's a nice way to ease into the system here. Hope this answers your question.
