I think you have to set out how much you want to make first. 100% is ambitious but it can happen.

Then look into companies you understand. Banks and fmcg companies are my babies, because I understand their business model.

Pick the most familiar stock to you and try to read up a bit on it and ask a lot of questions here. I've gotten a lot of important information here that I didn't see anywhere else.

Have a stop loss position, say if your 50k falls to 35k carry your bag and run. So you can live to fight again.

Don't be in a hurry to open a trading account till you know what you want to buy, so as to prevent itching fingers.

This is my own advice. If anybody wants to say anything contrary, kindly quote the guy.
This your vex never finish? I be your chairman o

Oh, yeah!
TLAX:
Then that will be a different proposition.

But i was trying to highlight the bolded to the guy who wants to do multiple trades, take dividend in all and retain his initial capital..

Please what is really wrong with Fidelity bank?

Other banks are having P.E of 4 and above but Fidelity bank's own P.E. is about 2.

I want to buy more units but I dont know if I should wait for 2017 result to come out or not. I really think it's a N4 stock though.

Where you see pe of 2? I doubt it
It should be around that 4 too if we assume year end eps of 60kobo

However, I think the market has moved on past year end results and the dividend will only be a bonus IMO (I assume there will be a general bull throughout May).

Disclosure: one of the two I am targeting next week

I am watching to see if there's any surprises behind that 3rd quarter result.

I hope not.

The idea is enter at an entry price where the dividend is not priced in. That way the speculator can make a quick 10% if he is lucky. Never a guarantee
Meaning you are BUYING before the dividend announcement. So you have no clue that there will even be a dividend at all. There may not even be a rally at all.

That time by dividend ex-date, good stock sold around 5-6% dividend yield; if at declaration dividend yield is 8-10%, jumping in could still give a 10-20% return before/by ex-date

For example, zenith bank with a dividend yield of 8% and a good result at that could have appreciated to 38-40 still with a yield of over 6%

But monkey don wise now grin

9months was 70k, I'm expecting full year to be 80 - 90k which makes their PE around sub 3.

Anyway, Fidelity screams undervalued to me at the moment, but I have a few units already and I don't want to add more to a stock I don't know what it's problem is.

Bullish MAY Issa prayer. Q1 results should set the pace.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by awesomeJ(m): 9:21pm On Apr 13, 2018
So FANG is a stock that sells for #50 a unit, with 1 million, you'll load about 20,000 units. Dividend of #4 per unit is declared. You decide to wait till markdown to sell, so you can qualify. Sales proceeds after markdown becomes 20,000*46 = 920,000
Dividend proceeds = 20,000*4*0.9= 72,000

New capital = 992,000

If you decide to wait till prices recover from markdown, you won't get to take positions in other stocks for their dividends, so you sell off ASAP.

Now, prices haven't started down trending yet, but the direction your portfolio is headed is pretty obvious.

Price markdown is the bane of the strategy.

A better strategy in my opinion is to sell a stock before markdown and repurchase it afterwards. That'll give you a little more than taking dividends, as it eliminates the WHT deduction.

I hope not too, but CBN might force them to surprise us.

A lot of banks were made to take impairment of their popular NPLs. I was reading the disclosures of one Bank the other day and I was just smiling. Some loans apparently get bad almost immediately after disbursement. Bank managers should start being careful, free govt money era of laulau spending is over.

I think the news of fresh litigation by some shareholders probably set in some restraint. It might still be otherwise though.

non controlling interest cant complain
This coy has too many red flag written all over it !!

With OPEX and finance cost gulping over 60% of gross profit,
CoS greater than total revenue Q/Q and cutting off nearly 83% of revenue from Q1,
Non-controlling interest draining off approx 82% off from PAT (...after more than doubling Q/Q),
EPS from the company dropping by an alarming 437% Q/Q,
The small matter of an apparent increase in short term borrowings.
Plus a negative cash position as at end of Q1, then anyone who's still here might be taking a dreadful risk.

Discounting the proceeds of non-controlling interest, PAT for the period is a clear sign that shareholders are seriously been short changed.
With this result, I now have a fair price of N13.
Only small positive for me is the infinitesimal increase in retained earnings.
...and so Forte Oil remains a SELL and an urgent one at that from my end !!
To those who care to listen, there are a bit too many red flags written all over this coy. ...and I will be very worried if I were a shareholder.

A stitch in time they say, saves nine !! ...but then again, Mr Market might have other plans.
Enough said.

NOTE: This is purely the opinion of Onegentleguy and therefore not any kind of outright recommendation.
...DD still always advised pls.

Damascus has been attacked.

Russians have seen a smarter missiles than theirs. After this they will re-evaluate their technology and will not escalate the war further because they have seen a better tech than theirs.

Oil price may hit 100 before the month ends if Russia attempts to strike US.

Russia may open a new front in Ukraine where Putin will send in troops to reclaim more of Ukrainian territory just to anger the world.

Key into big banks with bad O & G loans. Recovery is gradually coming.

I'm not a war monger but all these analysis na to find how to profit from the current state of the world.
