This picture is worrisome......why didnt that bomb explode? Are we been supplied on expired bombs? Things like this happened during liberian civil war, and there was a period that nigeria noticed the bombs supplied with our mig21s were very old stock, that we had to complain to soviet union.
Am wondering why everyone is quiet about that bomb....and if you have pics of dead BHT you are myvnew best friend please share.

Am worried about it also and have been thinking of it. But from the little research have made there are many factors that determine a dropped ordinance do from not exploding on impact.

They might be expired, which is also a major reason and it might also be technical problem or right from manufacture line.

NAF HOLDS SPECIAL JUMA’AT PRAYERS TO MARK 54TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

A special Juma’at prayer was held yesterday, 27 April 2018, at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Mosque in Abuja, as part of activities earmarked to commemorate the 54th Anniversary Celebration of the NAF. The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, represented at the occasion by the Chief of Training and Operation, Air Vice Marshal Nurudeen Balogun, led other Muslim officers, airmen/airwomen and civilian staff of the NAF to offer prayers for the Service, the rest of the Armed Forces and the nation at large. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Enhancing Nigerian Air Force Operational Capability for Timely Employment of Air Power in Response to Contemporary Security Challenges”.

In his sermon during the Juma’at prayers, the Chief Imam who is also the Deputy Director of Islamic Affairs of the NAF, Group Captain Lukeman Lawal, urged all Muslim faithful in the country to continue maintaining peace and building trust irrespective of ethnic or religious differences. The Chief Imam used the occasion to remind all Nigerians that the country is a trust bestowed by the Almighty Allah and must thus be jealously guarded through harmonious coexistence. He also appealed to all Nigerians to be mindful of their conduct and utterances noting that there is no other nation we could call “our own”. He therefore urged all to constantly pray for the nation and its leadership at all times. The Cleric thereafter offered prayers for the leadership of the NAF and other personnel especially those deployed to Internal Security operations across the country.

The NAF Day Celebration is an annual event to commemorate the establishment of the Service while reflecting on achievements, challenges and future prospect of the NAF. Other activities lined up for the celebration include, interdenominational church service, medical outreach, historical photo gallery display, gala night, ceremonial parade, aerial/static display, commissioning of some helicopters and presentation of colours to the newly established Air Training and Ground Training Commands.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE ALPHA JET AIRCRAFT DESTROYS BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS LOGISTICS BASE

The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the early hours of yesterday, 27 April 2018, successfully destroyed a Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) logistics base at Tumbum Gini in the northern axis of Borno. A Nigerien Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft conducted the Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) for the mission. The BDA revealed that the first wave of a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Alpha Jet aircraft strike on the location totally destroyed the vehicles and other logistics items at the place thereby further degrading the terrorists’ capabilities. Furthermore, at the end of the attack, the entire BHT location was engulfed in fire and all the terrorists in the location were neutralized.

NAF GRADUATES 146 SENIOR NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS FROM LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT COURSE

The Nigerian Air Force has graduated another set of 146 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) from the Leadership and Management Course at the Military Training Centre in Kaduna. The course, which commenced in February 2018, was designed to equip selected personnel with up-to-date knowledge in human and material management as well as adequate leadership skills to function optimally for efficient service. Participants at the course were, therefore, exposed to series of leadership and management models, Service writing, office administration as well as effective communication skills. Other areas covered during the course include General Service Knowledge with emphasis on the roles of the NAF, the CAS Vision and its key drivers, NAF core values and traditions, instructional techniques and contributions of the NAF to maintenance of Internal Security in the country.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony yesterday, 27 April 2018, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by the Air Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Abdul-Wahab, reiterated the commitment of the NAF to continue to build needed capacity across all specialties and cadre in the Service so as to build an efficient force structure. He noted that the strategic vision of the CAS has no doubt afforded the SNCOs the opportunity to acquire new skills to function effectively in the performance of their duties. He, therefore, urged the graduands to always be at their professional best to maintain the high standards for which the NAF is renowned. He further charged them to ensure that their subordinates adhere to those high standards, which is the hallmark of the current NAF leadership. In addition, he challenged them to be innovative, proactive and to always make judicious use of available resources. He also told the graduating SNCOs to be disciplined in order to further bridge the gap between the officers and the junior airmen/airwomen in their respective units. On the forthcoming election, the Guest of Honour reminded the SNCOs to be mindful that the NAF, and indeed the rest of the Armed Forces, remained apolitical in the discharge of its constitutional duties.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commandant Military Training Centre (MTC), Air Commodore Paul Masiyer, disclosed that the huge support being received from the Headquarters NAF underscores the commitment of the Service to human capacity development, which is one of the key drivers of the CAS vision. The Commandant stated that since the inception of the present administration, the Service had expanded necessary facilities at the MTC, resulting in an increase in the training capacity of the Centre from 40 students to 146. He therefore thanked the CAS for his visionary leadership, which had made the NAF a reliable force in the quest to safeguard the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of certificates to the graduands by the Guest of Honour. Awards were also given to those who distinguished themselves during the course. Master Warrant Officer Bwala SD received the CAS Award for the best overall graduating student while Master Warrant Officer David D and Master Warrant Officer Ahmed J went away with the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command Award and Commandant’s Award for coming second and third respectively, in order of merit.
