Am an active member of this thread....
But am about making a decision that might Mar or Make me.

I do get roughly 90k monthly after expenses from my current Job.
Am paid 120k.

I got this strong desire going abroad. I have friends out there. They promise to get me a security Job that pays less than 150k.

Am just thinking; does forfeiting my current Job for that of Dubai- Worth it?

Think am well....

A 120k job in Nigeria is equivalent to 440,400 naira. How did i get this? Simple! Multiply 3.67 by 120k. I know it does not make sense because 3.67 is the equivalent dirham to dollar. But you are paid naira. however, someone on 120k in Nigeria is most likely a banker, graduate or fucking lucky. So it will take a slowpoke to leave 120k naira for 150k naira, simply because he is being paid the latter in Dubai. Dubai is fucking expensive. Even people being paid 500k and above in dubai are looking for more or crying gan

Maybe you should also tell him some of the cost over there. Like the cost of getting a self contain apartment.

Cost of utilities

cost of food.

cost of transportation.

tax etc

The question I want to ask is, if Dubai is as hard and difficult as most of you put it, what are you still doing there Shouldn't you come back home with the little you have made and remain in Nigeria? I think people will take your submission more seriously if you come back home.

Why restrict your thought process Now let me ask you: the prospect of getting a better pay with time in the UAE and over here In Nigeria, which is higher if you answer is Nigeria slap yourself out of my mentions. Peer here you can be on 120k for years, in the UAE, CHANCES ARE HIGHER. don't be limited.

You who are not restricting your thought process clap for your self. No one says staying in Nigeria is better as against UAE. But you do not know a thing about UAE and in comparison to success stories and legal or illegal expats from Nigeria here you certainly cannot know what obtains. Anyway no need to explain further to you. Cos if you feel UAE is better than Nigeria then you see why i asked you to sama your head. Ok, konk yourself...neither Nija nor UAE is better. It is case sensitive and dependent on individuals. If you want to compare it should be with Europe or america...Mpama

You worked for 44 days without a visa and was not worried. now there are positive feedback from your CEO and u are now worried?? smh at the bolded part. Anyways for what its worth, any serious Employer can get you your visa in 48hours. so just be hopeful cos i doubt if u even have a choice here.

Not that I kept quiet for 44days,the second week I started work with them, they called me for contract sign that made me relax ND the manager said no problem for my visa.a week after again they requested for my passport photograph ND later returned it that it was rejected that I should to snap white background photo ...all this happened during the period of the 44 days...pls what advice can you give me now...he told me yesterday that he promised me that he so much care about my hardworking in the company.but I'm thinking I should look for alternative...

Shattap and get the crux of my point. A young man asked a simple question, and you in your own wisdom adviced him not to come, then I asked, if the UAE is as bad as most people make it seem, why are they still there? I asked that question from a place of curiosity, and you haven't given any logical answer that makes sense at all, only citing the case of the 30k difference which I see as myopic. Is it hard to engage your kind of person in an Intellectual conversation? Is it that hard? No need to use vulgar words, if you don't have a reasonable answer, keep mute.

see... No one is saying Dubai is hard. But in UAE 150k is more or less categorised as a low income salary. Cos even a studio apartment...like boys quarter in Nigeria costs 250k monthly....not to speak of a 2 BEDROOM APARTMENT. someone on a 150k salary in UAE will be overworked (12hour shift) 6 days a week. You cannot afford to bring your wife and children over due to visa sponsorship regulations ...you cannot walk away from your job overnight and you will be frustrated by any company you want to leave before your contract expires....you will be stuck in that job most times for 2 years or more...SO...WHAT IM SAYING IS LEAVING NIJA FOR 150K WHEN YOU EARN 120K IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE PROVIDED NO ONE IS CHASING YOU IN NIJA. but up to whoever wants to listen...2 sides to a coin...maybe even 3 sides

UAE na who no come no go know, if you choose to come over, pls prepare for the best and expect the worst.

The truth is that UAE has been flooded mostly by indians, filipinos, nepalis, kenyans etc. To even get a menial job na war not to talk of career job. Meanwhile I'm not discouraging anybody from coming before them go talk say i no want their progress. With God all things are possible.

Using myself as an example: Back in 2016 prior to my coming over here, i knew what to expect as a new migrant/job seeker. Finally when i came i had no one to put the blame on, 2 days after, i started searching for job, day time I’m everywhere along the sheikh zayed road, while at night I’m on the system bombing cvs to companies, I attended the first interview by invitation after a week though I didn’t get the job, (that is preparing for the best and expecting the worst). So I continued searching, to cut the story short, we were 4 Nigerians searching for job same time and we all got the jobs before our visa kalas, though not our dream job but today we all have changed jobs to better one.
UAE is not for the lazy Nigeriansgrin
Plan very well before coming, don’t waste money on visa, flight ticket and living expenses and finally you won’t get a job. BE WISE

that is what nonny is saying . Coming is good if you plan well. But leaving a job in Nigeria for UAE without any idea what to expect and a proper plan can cause deep regret. Especially cos no company in Nigeria gives 3-6 months leave ....except special circumstances and without pay....be wise. UAE sweet...but the journey to get the sweet part is not a binz....(no be beans)

if you check indeed.ae you'll notice that there are jobs for engineers and also alot of HVAC companies...you'll also find it worthwhile to get a construction yellow pages book. If you apply online rigourously and also call those numbers in the yellow pages you may be lucky...however you may settle for any type of company at first .....you need to be in UAE though

Thank you all for your response. My Job is on contract with a Leading Transport Company in Nigeria.
I have worked for 18months. I have six close friends at UAE. Since my job is still on contract, I have this fear that it will be terminated one day. But what I have deduced from all your quotes is, it's better to seek green pastures in Europe than UAE.
