Gustaf is still finding it hard to regain his weight after he recovered from the sickness that made him loose appetite and I'm sad about it, he really needs good protein to grow back

I switched back to liquid milk again since he needs protein and has to feel up again

The second bowl contains meat and broth, I prepare, freeze and serve every morning and evening

While the third one is the normal soya beans, groundnut and corn meal I've been using. I'll do everything i can to make my boy look good again because it's my responsibility, if i don't do it no one else will

I know that liquid milk causes purging in dogs( due to excess protein) but i know how to do the mixtures to give me the result i want without stories

Gustaf now consume 3 capsules of cod liver oil everyday, I try as much as i can not to skip giving it everyday

These days forcing him to swallow these stuffs is a big work so i just break it and mix with a little portion of meat then serve

I wake up every morning ( 5am) to feed my boys before heading to my place of work then dinner in the evening around 7pm

i think it's more like a skin care.. helps maintain their colour, ckin, n fur.. heathy looking.. thats probably one of its many advantages... but isn't 3pills too much

Thanks boss, many people love gustaf More than Murphy though i don't know why

I have the same love for the both

The cod liver oil helps in building the coat and a healthier body in dogs

You see that is the problem with we Nigerians and that is part of the reasons why recognized Kennel Club has not been established in Nigeria. Your Aunt mates her Boerboel, offsprings come out and she sells everything without retaining any to further improve the breed standard of her stocks. She just want to make money, my brother please, that is not a breeder, she's only running a puppy mill factory. Has her Boerboels been appraised, is she a member of any recognized Boerboel Association? She is not a BREEDER!!!

First who's a dog breeder? A breeder is a person who mates/breeds animals or plant. My aunt mates and sells her puppies she's a breeder but not a professional one

after all in the begining of this thread i made it known that she has no kennel so why coming to repeat the same thing again??

She sells her puppies to make some cash so you don't expect her to be a member of the BDBAN, SABBS, SABMA or any kennel club

She does line breeding in her own way but if you choose to call it backyard breeding then it's fine

But your definition of a breeder is wrong

A breeder is a person who selectively breeds carefully selected mates, normally of the same breed to sexually reproduce offspring with specific, consistently replicable qualities and characteristics.

So when you were comparing My GSD to EVE, you were wrong, cause only a quack breeder and a fool would mate a DDR to a West German Show line. Because I'm a breeder, I'll breed a DDR to a DDR and same to the other.

Milk causes 'purging' in SOME, not ALL, dogs because SOME dogs, just like some humans, do not tolerate Lactose (the sugar found in milk) and not because of the protein content of milk. I give all 4 of my dogs (2 rotts & 2 gsds) milk occasionally and its always well tolerated.

Infact I usually dissolve their drugs in milk solution whenever I have to treat them with oral medication because they can hardly reject milk. If a dog is not lactose intolerant then milk is an excellent diet for it.

Just my 2 pence!

Having said that, I wouldn't encourage large quantities of milk for any dog, especially adult dogs... and if your dog shows any sign of intolerance like diarrhoea, vomiting or flatulence then it's best not to give it at all.

Indeed milk is very nice and nutritious for dogs though some think otherwise, thanks sir for the comment

Adult dogs have less of the enzyme lactase which is required for digesting lactose (milk sugar), hence most of the lactose pass along their intestines undigested, drawing water to the intestines through osmosis and causing tummy upset and diarrhoea. The flatulence results from fermentation of the undigested sugar lactose by microbes in the intestines, releasing gasses...

Hahaha...don't mind me jor! I was just rambling on as if everybody did science in school.

However, what I was trying to say is that puppies have a particular substance in them that helps their system digest milk sugar so they usually have no problem with milk, but as they grow older, they gradually lose most of that substance, hence it becomes increasingly more difficult for older dogs to tolerate milk.

Hope am clearer this time...
