Why do you want to disvirgin your passport? Whatever any agent or person might have told you is misleading. Many people on this thread got their visas on virgin passports so you are good to go so far you apply to a proper decent school and No your sister's SOA is not a red flag. Be prepared to answer why your sister is sponsoring you. Good answer could be that she is your guardian now since you lost your Dad.

@thegrandchemist put it absolutely spot on!!! "KNOW THYSELF". Know your strengths and weaknesses, and plan your life according to them. If you have a background in creative arts or Insurance, don't let anyone fool you into thinking you'd be a complete failure here unless you switched to an engineering or nursing program. Life comes with NO guarantees.

Not everyone can score 320+ on their GRE or 110+ on TOEFL to get into top programs/schools. Don't look down on people who can't get into those programs and go to lesser known schools instead. As @Femi321 put it, the country has changed. Most of the employers now lose interest in hiring foreigners who need to be sponsored to get legal status to work. Going to study at the white house guarantees absolutely NOTHING.

Getting into top programs is great! I encourage people who have what it takes to shoot for them, but let's encourage others who cannot. A friend of mine went to a school no one knows about at age 32 and got a Bachelor's in finance. She works for Microsoft now and makes $120k+ per annum.
Another friend with a Nursing Masters degree makes so much less than her. They are both happy with their lives.

Other examples, a truck driver friend went to truck driving training for 8 weeks or so, job he got now pays him about $60k, CNAs (after 6 weeks of training) get jobs that pay $14+ per hour. Happiness in life is subjective, let's encourage people.

You have no idea how difficult it is for some people to even get into those schools you laugh at and the joy on their faces when they finally see the admission letters from them. Encourage people to believe in themselves and think outside the box.

Yes life comes with no guarantee but then again you have to be smart in life. I completely disgaree with the sentence in bold. You guys keep forgetting restrictions to get a job as a foreigner in the US and as such you have to stand out to be gainfully employed. Coming to the US to study typicall courses many Americans study is not a good idea. No matter how good you are at that course, 100 out of 100 companies will employ an American over a foreigner. This is not about looking down on anyone or course but coming to study social works, arts, psychology etc is not a smart move. Even the HIb law is about employing foreigners in specialization where they cant find no American. Getting a job is one thing, getting H1b appoved is another. Not everybody that gets picked at the Hib lottery will eventually be given the h1b visa at the end of the day due to not meeting certain criteria. This post does not apply to PRs or people who can find there way by getting PR through other means

Nobody can know for sure if its a problem or not. However you must be ready to explain the six year gap and is this school an accredited school?

yes it is ...I actually I have a c.v in professional course (Microsoft office ,SQL,Relational database management ) In niit Ikeja....I was also recruited by them ....

But that cannot erode the fact that an average Stanford student has more opportunities at his disposal than an average lowly ranked school student. Most companies setup recruitment offices in these top schools and all you have to do to get an interview is just by showing interest. Their career centers are top notch, and they even have specialized job websites designed for their students where companies post jobs. A competitive candidate that applies from those school-specialized job websites skips lots of processes in interviewing just because he is a student of xxxxxxxxx school. The opportunities are there and it will be very wrong of us to say otherwise.

Moving on, I encourage everyone to apply to the best schools that suits your profile. Not everyone can get into Ivies. Not everyone can get a 700+ GMAT/325+ GRE/first class GPA to get into top schools (I don't even have any of them).

If you have a 2:2, you cannot change your GPA. Ace your GRE and look for the best schools that suit your profile.

If you have a first class GPA + 290 GRE, that's one hell of an unbalanced score! Rewrite the GRE and aim higher

I've seen people here with 4.7+ GPA going to roadside MBA programs. These are people that can easily enter Harvard/Stanford/Wharton Business Schools. Why suffer yourself to a school with dead recruitment drive when you can easily enter one that can guarantee you a good job?

So irrespective of the whole scenario, we can't erode the fact that these top schools' students get better opportunities. If you can join them, great! If you don't have the profile to join, go to the best place your profile can take you too
