I asked her why she said so, she said she will explain somethings to me and about FD when i come to 9ja this summer as per i told her i'll be around in summer. She said ''forget about FD & focus on TB & MF. Will tell me other options when we meet this summer.

She's very correct.....There's nothing like Peace of Mind.....TB,BOND or MMF is king.....!!

I wouldn't mind if you share the outcome here whenever you meet her. There is a need to know why she said you should forget about FD. I used to do FD some years ago and I had no regret whatsoever. Maybe things have changed with FD now.

my younger brother works with Diamondbank and he has been a banker for 8years. I didn't fix with his bank becos their rates are very poor. FD has inherent risk which has to do with the banks strength. the question is how strong is the bank u intend to fix ur money. that is the only risk. I started with Fd many years ago before I metarmophorsized into Tb, I had no regrets with Fd. the general fear people have is with the strength of these banks we have around, last year skyebank acquired mainstreet bank and ran into liquidity issues, but the cbn stepped in, same with keystone, I don't think the feds will allow any banks to fail in this era(my lay man's views).

I have invested in FD for many years before i migrated fully to TB....and i will never make the mistake of going back....Never ever..
Coming out from darkness....you will be at the mercy of your bank and AO.

I did rather go for the shortest secondary Market tenure on TB than do FD....!!!!
I jokingly asked my account officer about GTBANK Fixed deposit rate......She busted laugh and told me never mind......4.5% for any amount below 1M and 5.5% for any amount above 1M.....even if you bring 100M,its still 5.5%.... Except you want to do a private deal with the Managerial unit of Advantium_Banking _Group which is dead risky....

Negotiations happen with FD if it doesn't favour you u move to the next bank, banks that have prospective projects that need financing will be willing to pay more interest than those who have little or nothing to do with your money or those who have enough money.

Which story did I tell you that AO tell me? Someone advised me to forget about FD till we meet in summer that i should focus on TB and MF, so what does that has to do with your false accusation, coupled with the fact that you and I have no idea what she even want to explain to me?

GTB is one of the worst bank when it comes to FD rates, infact all Tier 1 banks. To enjoy good rates, you need to go to Tier 2 banks like Skye bank. My friend did FD with Skye at 13% as well for 9M Naira. The Tier 2 banks are really in need of deposits so they will always give you higher rates. Infact, some Microfinance bank will give u 18% and above, i am very sure of that. Kindly note that doing FD with Tier 2 banks and Microfinance banks carry more risk when compared to Tier 1 banks.

Anyways @jejebaba how far with US equities its earning season ,hope u still in the game. How are ur swing trades.....doing. with these poor TB rates I don't mind delving into swing trading although I have no knowledge of how it works. Day trading is my thing.

Boss, i still dey oo but still yet to test the waters with two feet as most stocks on NYSE are overvalued. I wish i can do daytrading like you but i need sound knowledge of TA to master daytrading game. I hope u follow chop money for the IMTE stock pump. The stock gained almost 2000% during intraday but ended up closing with a gain of above 1000% sha on Wednesday and did another 30% on Thursday.

That is your problem because we are not the same. It is really indefensible for being in the teeth of plain reason and common sense. IMTE and BOSL went crazy last week but I don't trade small caps..... too risky for my liking.

Guys, you don't have to do this, but with the way TB is falling, i'll advise you quickly lock in some of your money in (Mutual Funds) especially Money Market Funds (StanbicIBTC) and others. I understand that they invest in the same TB but the fact remains the same that MF managers don't invest/focus on only TB. Happy weekend!
