Someone should please help with this. I recently got admitted to a University in Indiana for MBA which is a two year program. When I got my I-20, I discovered the programme end date was August 2021, instead of August 2020. I sent a mail to the school and they responded saying sometimes the programme exceeds two years when prerequisites are involved and also to give me enough time to prepare to leave the U.S when the programme is completed. Please won't this look like a part time programme to the Consular ? Should I tell the school to change it ? |

monistick:This has happened in the past and it was fine ... your ds160 should match your i20 dates . So in this case 3 years however If you are ask how long is your program then you say 2 years but then explain what you stated above .... this is not unique to you so VO should be aware and I have seen this posted within the last 2 years a couple of times |

dayoadeyanju: LagosismyHome:Additionally, for clarification you can print a copy of the email sent to you by the school. and show to the VO incase you are asked about it. Most importantly, the date you will be filling on your DS160 must match that of your I-20..... |

Olalekank: Naughtyvirgin: LagosismyHome:{Yes I support your point Sis, In some exceptional cases and scholarship cases, some school will ask for additional transcript like you said but initially what they usually require is your WAEC/NECO} I think the main problem here is English. American English does not use the word result so much in academics, instead they use Transcript or Grades. And i believe this sometimes throw people off and i am still a learner in this too. Many times I have asked for Cutleries in a restaurant and no one knows what am talking about until I say Silverware. Sorry Brothers if i sound mean or know it all, but am just giving my 2cents |

monistick:This is completely normal. Don't worry about it. During my time, my i20 also said 3 years. Student visas are for "Duration of Status". As long as your program is running and you're in legal status, you're fine. |

Robert6708:First of... congratulations!!! I hope you enjoy your stay here and your dreams come true. Congrats. I'm curious, please explain what you meant by the standards here not matching what the case is in reality. I'm just curious, I wanna learn. ![]() Of course, your brother's status is your business. If he came in as a student, and decided to remain after studies, it's normal for them to think you'd be going the same route. Remember, the VOs are trained to assume every applicant wants to come here and never return. It's nothing serious. Your 2nd interview was obviously better than the first. I'm proud of people who don't let any failure/obstacle stop them, so... congratulations one more time. |

theamerican:it is a well documented mental case known as PVAGG (post VisaApproval Gra Gra) , in this state, the newly approved visa hopeful gets all philosophical when laying down their transcript for the rest of us that have not been to the embassy, they dish out advice, criticize the forum and disappear forever ![]() |

EZEIGBO1OFIMO:Lmao! Smh. Why not wait for him to explain what he meant? I see where you're coming from and what you mean but let's see if he's going to explain what he meant, it could be something entirely different from your interpretation. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by theamerican(f): 6:35pm On May 08, 2018 |
drwrites:You are stressing over something that's not a big deal. Get a cold bottle of soda, smile and don't stress yourself over simple things. My answers to your 2 questions: 1. Unless you are a permanent resident or have any permanent ties in/to South Africa, I'd assume your interview should be in Nigeria. 2. I don't think that'd affect anything. You may be asked why you're abandoning a current program for a new one, so it won't harm you to prepare for that. As a matter of fact, it could work in your favor. Bonus advice: From what you have said, you know what you want. You didn't put all eggs in a basket, you didn't get what you wanted the first time so you went with option B. Now that what you really want has become available, you're shooting for it. No crime in that. It's perfectly normal. Just work on how you're going to make the VO understand this and you'll be fine. |

subset:Congrats bro... First of all, I'm the assistant Secretary of team silent readers. I must confess, your visa transcript was well worth the time ( I actually did read it twice). We happen to somewhat have same interest, I studied Statistics too. Finished September 2017 from Unilorin and I'm presently serving. I'm very much fascinated to read the line where you mentioned ML. Everything about A.I intrests me. I'd love to also go for my masters in Data Science & Analytics in USA. Presently, I'm on the the look out for schools with good track record on my intended course of study; it's really tiring to say least because DS is a field with a lot of sub niches, different school with their different area of core concentration. This has contributed to making the whole school search of a thing look very tedious. Your transcript just motivated me to continue being steadfast in my research and preparing for the greater things that's yet to become of the 'hands that typed this'... I wish you the very best in your studies... I'm coming very soon to join you guys (hopefully when the time is right) |

jeffery23:Delayed but not denied. Give it another shot and this time work on your expressions and confidence. Experience some say is the best teacher, you already have the experience, so prepare again and go get it this time...... wish you all the best of luck. |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by LagosismyHome(f): 8:05pm On May 08, 2018 |
drwrites:There is no rule against you applying from South Africa and it perfectly fine....the only flag is that you got visa for the same program although different countries Whether you apply in South Africa or Nigeria you just need to be able to explain clearly why you want to switch program. If you can articulate what a US program will offer that the South African cannot then that helps |

batman1234:Don't think I understand you and if i do, I don't think there is anything like that. Check within yourself and recall how your interview went to find out what can be the cause. NOTE: Sometimes there is no cause, its just the VO's gut, so give it another shot and prepare more in a better way that can convince yourself. Best of luck |

EZEIGBO1OFIMO:This made me laugh. You don’t have to read the first part of my transcript out of context, however when you pass through a process and succeed at it, it’s just normal to drop some hints you feel may work for someone else. That said, what I meant when I mention standards is just the fact that I feel a lot of hidden factors are always at work during the Visa process. Maybe My choice of words made it seem like I wasn’t making sense, but I read a lot and I read this whole thread from start to finish. Some responses are rude, harsh, insensitive, and some people make it seem like you’re doomed to fail if you applied to one school and didn’t write standardized exams. I think I read where someone was saying some schools are waste of time and all. I just feel everybody’s circumstance is peculiar and since this is a faceless forum, it’s better to give more tailored advices. Knowledge is power, and no one should take the information on this thread for granted (I didn’t), but no advice here will do more for anyone other than the personal effort you put towards living your passion. Have a great evening everyone. |
