nice observation bro. onazi no doubt brings enough energy to the team but he adds nothing moving forward. he tends to perform better when we face African oppositions. mikel can be deployed as a central midfielder who's sole responsibility is to coordinate the team's play and also help alex create openings for our strikers to score

You're right

I just hope Rohr and his technical crew are listening to this analysis. Bro I enjoyed every bit of this analysis full of passion. I think I concur with you.. it's logical
So you concur.. on what premise

Hmm... Don't you think playing Moses in the wingback role would limit his freedom going forward and Initiate attack? Even his presence alone in the opponents box can unsettle them.

Please go and watch Victor under Rohr he is always tracking back and doing defensive duties. So wingback is no difference. He can bomb forward and one of our midfielders can slide in and cover for him.

I think this is what Rohr tried against Serbia Poland. we didn’t lose the Serbia game at the midfield.
Mikel and Ndidi playing as pivot DMs would neutralize the midfield threat of the Croats. Let’s not forget the duo also have attacking instincts. Our ability to switch up play will be crucial — counter attack being our strong point.

That one sure na.

I think this your post contradicts your stance, bro. You're suggesting that we give up the middle to the Croats but at the same time implying a 3-5-2 formation which is basically and practically a midfield-choking tactic!

If we play the 3-5-2 then we're practicall , rightfully congesting the midfield in a bid to afford the Craots very little space in the middle. 3-5-2 basically is occupied by 5 bodies in the midfield, bro.

I never insist we give the middle to the crots..but rather we concentrate on the wings......more.

exactly bro...we need an experienced mikel to play the CM role...together with ndidi I trust the interceptions and tackles to be neat and less rash....
Sure, Ndidi over Onazi. but does Rohr see it this way?

mikel will sparkle if deployed as a central midfielder or a deep laying play maker (the andrea pirlo/michael carrick role).mikel lacks the speed and shooting ability to operate as a number 10. i believe alex iwobi is blessed with the skill set to metamorphose into a mercurial attacking midfielder. another player who should be nurtured for that role is qpr's eberechi obi after the mundial
Ah! Eberechi, the guy sabi o. Good passer

Oh please! Keshi who is so lazy that he barely takes time to train his team. I watched Keshi's pre-world cup preparations in Philadelphia and it was a joke. I could do better a joke. After what I saw, I told my friends that our team would lack fitness in Brazil ... and boy, did that show

Comparing Keshi with Rohr is like comparing sleep to death.

Rohr still got nothing on Keshi. Let him get past the WC second round first, then we can label him 'death"

Nope we can have both on the pitch.

Iwobi's good understanding of football makes him combine well with Mikel.

Mikel plays the number 10 role, while Iwobi combines from the flanks.
This Iwobi wing role day worry me

Haha!! Ol' boy, that your assessment na wao. You make it sounds as if Nigeria is in the same group as in 2014. Give Rohr a group comprising of Iran, Bosnia, and Argentina and see if he wouldn't qualify with ease. There's no way you can compare Iran with Iceland or compare Bosnia with Croatia. Bottom line, we're in a much tougher group this time around.

Yeah you could say we have a bit more creativity on the flanks with Iwobi/Simon replacing Musa, but the middle is still the same thing. We still have highly energetic players who cover for Mikel's lack of mobility, only difference is Mikel plays in front of them instead of behind. I'd even argue over buildup play then was better than now because Mikel played deeper.
I still think a 4-3-3 with Ndidi - Mikel - Iwobi/Etebo would do us a whole world of good. Mikel would probably conserve more energy being behind instead of having to drop deep to help with buildup play.

Although, we have a bit of creativity on the flanks but the tactics differs. Rohr wants his wingers attacking and defending at the same time but Keshi's wingers according to that analyses don't defend must.

Besides, the 4-3-3 Formation didn't work for us the last time we used it against Serbia and I don't think Rohr will abandon his preferred 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1 formation for that.

Moreover, Etebo has performed below average for the SE in that midfield so far.

Therefore, it's necessary Rohr tries the trio in that formation in a friendly before he gambles at the world cup with that idea which is looking good on paper.

The problem here is that you're are making assumptions. I don't think Rohr is better than Keshi except that Keshi's selection is suspect.

Whenever we don't face Argentina in our first game we qualify out of the group. Just like in 1994 when Bulgaria had all the stoichkovs and covs so too the Croatians. I expect the same outcome. 2-3 nil for Nigeria.

thats because the the lacks a proper number 10. if rohr can experiment a bit against england by deploying iwobi as the the team's number 10 you all will clamor for him to hold onto that position. believe you me mikel will shock the world in the upcoming world cup if rohr plays him as a central midfielder which will bring out his best for the world to see.
I think that's the issue. Iwobi isn't proven yet so why the fuss. That AM role requires a lot of experience and vision bro.

At Chelsea he has people like Hazard and Willian that command the ball but that wouldn't be so with Nigeria. He can be even better at that position with Nigeria.

The best player in the Nigeria National team today is Victor Moses. It's like saying Neymar or Ronaldo should play left back or right back for Brazil and Portugal respectively.

There are certain players who, baring injury, are sure starters on this team regardless of formation. They are: John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.
And you can throw in Wilfred Ndidi into the mix as well. All the other positions are negotiable.

Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun positions are not negotiable.

Ighalo of course has been better. Look at the goal he scored against Cameroon for example- overpowering and outsmarting his marker with that move. I don't think Nacho would have scored if it was him. Ighalo has been a better CF.

Ehe complete the analysis for us na bro. How many matches has Ighalo played for super eagles & how many goals scored? And then bring Nacho own make we see...

The best formation for a team is that which best utilizes the potentials of the team to achieve results. And we need to maximise our potentials to get results in this WC. It is not about my alleged best players.

Someone is talking of playing Moses as a wing back if we adopt the 3-5-2. Is that Moses' most potent position in this current team?

we are not going to play 3-5-2 all the time...just certain games we play such...
you're talking as if without Moses on the pitch we not gonna win any world cup match...

if he can play that role for chelsea for close to 2 seasons why can't he play the wing back role for the super eagles just on few matches we play such...ebuehi can come in for him in the second half...if he burns out...

Moses can as well return to wings when we revert back to 4-2-3-1 team formation in other matches.....

so let's be flexible...

after all we not gonna play with that tactics in all matches just against teams like Croatia,Spain etc...when we need explore the wings and as well.choke the midfield.

True. But that's because we don't have a lot of options in that CB position; because, to me, neither of those two should be indispensable. Don't get me wrong, Ekong and Balogun are both good players but they also have major weaknesses:
Balogun lacks pace
Ekong poor passing technique

In fact, I still haven't given up on Awaziem snatching one of the starting CB position in Russia if those two don't shape up. In fact, Awaziem should've become a starter before now if not for his pretty poor debut game against South Africa game.

O pari

Awaziem is good but he is not a CB in my own estimation of his allround play.. He seems to be a midfielder and I think he could perform more magic than Ndidi as a DMF which was his natural position before he was converted.
