US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States is effectively withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, defying last-ditch diplomatic efforts by his European allies to convince him otherwise.

"I made clear that if the deal could not be fixed, the United States would no longer be a party to the agreement," Trump said in a highly-anticipated on Tuesday.

"The Iran deal is defective at its core. If we do nothing, we will know what exactly will happen.

"Therefore, I am announcing today, that the United States will withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal," he said

Iran should simply go back to its nuclear program. If America, Russia, North Korea etc can have a stockpile of nuclear weapon, nothing stops Iran or any other country from having theirs.

Iran is an ally of Russia and China will also back her. There is absolutely nothing that America and Isreal can do apart from economic sanctions that may not even be effective because the EU and China who are still part of the deal won't support it.

Trump pulled out of the Paris accord and nobody followed him. Same thing will happen in this case. All the other countries that signed the Iran deal are still in on the deal. Trump is on his own as far as the international community is concerned.

US Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin has confirmed the sanctions in a statement.

He said the sanctions will be reimposed in keeping with 90 day and 180 day “wind-down” periods. Mnuchin said:
