Americans and the Britain's introduced Christianity to us, but are still better ,does this not show that the problem is farther away from religion...

They got better AFTER they started jettisoning religion. they stopped slavery even though Christianity fully endorsed slavery. They started using their common sense to solve problems and stopped witch burning. they went into research to find cure for diseases rather than blame demons which the bible says is responsible

False! science would develop with or without religion

it was out of desperation to understand the universe that man turned to religion, but when he discovered that religion could not solve some of his problems or give some answers, he turned to science, so no country on earth can 100 percent say that they are free from religion... but in the case of the black man, its just how he chose to reason, he like his counterparts practice religion, but his reasoning decided to go farther than where he is.

Exactly! religion doesn't solve physical problems, science does so we should quit going to church to pray and start thinking of physical ways to develop our country. as the saying goes "Prayer is the best excuse for doing nothing while pretending you're doing a lot"

Christianity did not enslave anyone but people enslave themselves with Christianity. Same is Islam and other religion. If you read the bible you will understand no where it said *human are God slaves but rather God children* who should be free to live their lives in right page with God's will not pastor or GO selfish will.

yes they got better when they realized that religion couldn't solve most problem, but they never abolished it, so may people still practice there religion in this countries, but the question you should ask is why is our case different, it goes down to the people, I will rather blame the system of education we run for our failure to produce scientific geniuses than religion, a system that lays so much emphasis on certificates and grades than practice and rational thinking.... so dear blame the people not God ...and as for your argument on science coming to be with out religion paving the way, then you gotta understand the history and relationship of both sides b4 you get my point

I've already agreed with you that our problem goes beyond religion, however religion makes a bad situation worse as it encourages people to depend on gods by kneeling down to pray rather than stand up and fight hard for their rights. This is why our politicians would embezzle billions and trillions and use a fraction of the money to build churches or donate some amount to churches where people would keep visiting to hear "Vanity upon vanities all is vanity", where they'll preach that this world doesn't really matter as we should concern ourselves more with what happens after we die
The pastors would keep preaching that demons and spiritual entities are responsible for our predicaments. They'd even preach against acquiring wealth here but build treasures in heaven by giving to god the little they have left. the pastors would then use the money to build mansions and buy private jets

I never wanted to make any comment on this but seems some people are taking this church of a thing as a do or die affair, few days ago I was traveling at night and the car got spoiled cos the fuel pump was faulty, being stranded there was no way of going back or continue with our journey. A woman who was coming from one of those miracle churches brought out anointing water according to her, she prayed and prayed, pour the water on the Engine of the Vehicle and she told the driver to start the car, I was just waiting to see the miracle but at the end nothing happened.
I'm saying this cos we Africans always ignore the main problem, instead of finding a solution we will be busy praying and expecting miracles. If we don't change our ways this country will get worse than this.

After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast. So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and built a great factory of it. While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology. While we were praying, India went into ICT. While we were praying, China went to massive industrialization. While we were shouting Allah Alakuba! UAE went into massive infrastructural development. That's why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. That's why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That's why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals. That's why we don't do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when it collapse, we blame devil. That's why it's a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams. That's why our pastors don't consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when building collapse. That's why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapse we blame it on Lucifer. That's why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every streets in Nigeria. That's why we always wait for gods to do that which ability to accomplish we already have in us. That's why we want our teachers to labour on earth and go to heaven for their rewards. Nigeria is a prayer loving, god fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all. When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong. That's why there are more people dying on our roads. Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when we have all we need to survive and build a nation....... I hope it made sense to you
