Although I read from time to time but many of the answers are already in the previous thread, so I don't see much importance in my presence anymore but, in the next posts, I will go through the top ten myths prospective students have about Germany. However, before I do that I will give this advice.
LEARN GERMAN!!!!! LEARN GERMAN!!!

With my sleek pickup lines I can
Make all the pretty honies my fan
Now I am voiceless like Herman
Because I couldn't speak German

I applied to 100 jobs, I no dey lie
100 calls from HRM but I can't reply
I am pretty strong powerful man
But they said I can't speak German

grin grin

I don tire, I can't go on with this.
But, please, I know sometimes it hard the combine visa hustle, work and learning German at the same time, but if you have half a chance, please do attempt to learn German to a certain level before you come.
School will be easier by a factor of 100 if you do because you wouldn't have to do the difficult jobs to survive, which means you can reserve more strength to study. This also means you can work higher wage jobs while working for lesser number of hours. You won't also be under pressure to survive. If your German language proficiency is better, you will be on top of your game in so many aspects especially if you don't find yourself in places like München.

Thanks for your advice. Your advise is very enlightening and also terrifying in the same breath. Cos I will really love to work while schooling. Please , what is the minimum german proficiency required to get least the lowest possible job.

Bros abeg, I am trying to apply as well to LMU for Msc Biochem. and would like to clarify. Did u apply direct to ur program, or through the international office?

For ya info.. If you're applying to LMU for MSc Biochemistry, you'll be submitting your documents to both the International office and the department. And you must have a German proficiency (I think at least B1 or B2). I sent the schl a mail on this too and their response said thus.

Pls don't ask me any questions oo..dahsall I know on this. grin grin grin

Advice to those wanting Bsc and don't have university entrance certificate , just close eye and go for the English-taught studienkolleg or the German- taught Studienkolleg....The advantages of doing a foundation uni, is very many especially for international student like us...
-u will learn german from scratch,
-familarise urself with the culture and how things work,
-and at the end of the studienkolleg, u can apply to any uni in Germany and study for free or even with scholarship....
-because of ur serious language skills, job will be easier ....and there is something I learnt...If u learn a new foreign language with a foreign accent, u get understood faster and easier...e.g when I studied in UK, there was a girl that came from an African country and she couldn't speak English but by the time we finished school, this girl could speak very good English and the best of it was that she had the British accent (not the type we African force ooo grin )...

Studienkolleg doesn't teach you the German language from scratch and your accent doesn't change too except you were born here or came here as a kid. Every other person has an accent..

Studienkolleg doesn't make applying for scholarship easier. Scholarships are mostly given to smart students.

Ps: I'm currently in Studienkolleg so....

You shouldn't just close your eyes and apply for Studienkolleg, it's not easy plus it's stressful. If there's a chance to do first year before coming here, please do!.

There's also an extrance exam which is hard to pass. It's very likely you will fail the exam if you apply from Nigeria.

Why? Because most people in my Studienkolleg including me all did their language course in Germany which is an advantage over those applying from other countries.

I'm not discouraging anyone from applying to Studienkolleg but if you have the chance to do first year in Nigeria, kindly do..

You don't need German language for Studienkolleg??

If you don't need to have a knowledge of the German language plus I didn't see where you mentioned entrance exam. I'm guessing it's a private Studienkolleg.

I wouldn't advise you to go to a private Studienkolleg though, that's if the said Studienkolleg is private..
