You dont need to worry yourself about this bro. If God says the PTDF scholarship is for you, no Hausa man can deny you that. Keep the faith. Be hopeful and positive.

It is crazy that in an interview that shouldnt last for more than 5 mins, you were asked to solve a complex Civil eng calculations without even allowing you to do that. God punish the devil!!!

That interview ought to be within your SOP for Master's and research proposal for PhDs.

Anyway, every state has equal representation, so worry not. God is on the throne.

Thank you so much sir, i feel so much consoled and encouraged with your words ............i will keep the hope and faith alive ...God bless you richly sir .

Bro, If that was all you were asked ,then u are a super lucky person .....

MY OWN CASE WAS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS WITHIN THE SAME UI. (UI used 3 panels today)

From my own personal experience , the interview has no standard pathern .....you could be asked anything .......

below are my experience today at UI, IBADAN (Msc) .....

1. after i introduced myself .....immediately they learnt i was from the EAST ( IGBO ORIGIN) , they waited for like 2 mins and started murmoring to each other in Hausa language ....(All of the 5 persons that made up the panel were Hausas).

2. i was not asked a single question from my SOP ....they didnt even open it ....nor cared about it.

3. All the questions i was asked were deep, tough and technical (Civil engineering questions ) my 1st degree course .
( one of them is a Prof of Civil Engineering ) ....NOTE : THIS IS OUTSIDE THE CONTEXT OF THE INTERVIEW....recall that from the invitation letter, we were only told to make a presentation of our Statement of Purpose .......This is very unfair to me .

4. i was asked up to 10 questions ......and my interview lasted up to 25min . ( while others were asked barely 2 questions from their SOP ...with a max interview duration of 4min)

5. I was asked several questions about my projecf work .....and when i explained the title and summary to them......they nullified it ...simply because it was not an oil and gas related project topic .....despite how best i tried to convince them ...that it was just an undergraduate project ..and must not be oil and gas related.

6. i was even given some tough and complex calculations to do (structural analysis of indeterminate structures.....and i was not even allowed to solve , i was told to produce the answer without solving ......which was practically impossible ......i told them the steps to solve it ....they nullified it...insisting i must produce the answer.

7. And one of them kept shouting "you dont even have any publication ".......( i didnt know when it became a compulsory for an undergraduate to have research publications)

8. And two others kept asking "what state are you from ".......

MY CONCLUSION : PTDF is dominated by the Northerners and they are BITTERLY BIASED .....they seems to appear harsh on some persons from a particular part of the country .

Using a WRITTEN APTITUDE TEST to assess everyone would have been fair to all the applicants and not this Biased method of interview where some are barely asked 1 simple question in PANEL (1) and some others will be bombarded with very rigorous questions that is outside the context of the interview ... This is one of the major reason why Nigeria is a failed state..........NEPOTISM AND TRIBALISM .....

Tuesday, you mean. Not Friday. You want to give someone heart attack! embarassed

Sorry for that Mix-up, i meant "Tuesday".

**MY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE (FOR MSc APPLICANTS)**

I Was scheduled for 2pm, arrived the Uniport ACE CEFOR building, got to the conference hall at exactly 1:43 pm, was about seating when a Man entered, he listed some names and mine was the second called.
I was just puzzled......

i answered, he took 2 other persons and myself to the entrance of the interview office/room where even before i could breathe he called me in, as the first individual was unavailable, and it still wasn't 2pm yet. i notified him of my interview time, he asked if i was ready and requested for two copies of my S.O.P., which i submitted, even if it wasn't stated anywhere that one should bring an S.O.P along.
(Not that i even knew the meaning of S.O.P until the night before my interview, thanks to online resources like Nairaland)

FAST FORWARD TO MY INTERVIEW....
I was interviewed by a three man panel and a Fourth protocol officer, first thing that was requested for was my PUBLICATIONS AND ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, I had to remind them that i was an undergraduate who had just rounded off with my NYSC, they told me that being a fresh graduate shouldn't be an excuse to not having a publication, (WAS ABLE TO CONVINVE THEM FINALLY THOUGH)

My interview was centered on;

-My S.O.P,
-Why i chose one of my three preferred institutions
-What the industry would be benefitting from my doing a Post grad. study in the UK
-My areas of interest
&-My knowledge on the industry

PS. I WAS ASKED FOR DOCUMENTAL EVIDENCE OF AWARDS WON, THEY REFUSED TO VIEW THE ONES I HAD ON MY DEVICE. I HAD TO SOMEHOW PRODUCE SOMETHING ON PAPER TOWARDS 4:05 PM, WHICH WAS VIEWED AND RECORDED.

Simply said, my interview was smooth, at least i got a reassuring thumb up from the Lead interviewer, who commended my dress sense and even teased me about my gold bracelet.

ONE ADVICE: KNOW YOUR STUDY AREA, PUT ON A SMILING FACE, BE CONFIDENT AND CONVINCING, AND BE SURE TO KNOW WHEN TO ANSWER Yes or No.

Please and please.... No one should bring this "we Vs them" argument here.... I don't get it with all this Hausa Hausa Hausa.... Are you the only igbo person to be interviewed in UI? let's even say they want to fail you, the slot will still be giving to another igbo from your state..... I'm not disagreeing with you.... But we have mean people everywhere. (Hausa, igbo, Yoruba e.t.c) ....

During the FGC interview, I was interviewed by 3 panelists (all Hausa), one of them even told me I'm not serious, that I have Rainin wayo (I don't know how to explain the exact sentence in English), that i think they are there to play just because I didn't come with 5 copies of my SOP (of which I wasn't asked to bring).... But I just had to calm down to avoid more frustration.... Infact I can swear that they didn't ask you to present a research proposal (MSc candidate), I was asked to present both my SOP and proposal.... Which I did... And they had no other option than to just calm down also... Please....stop this your hate. It won't take us anywhere...

"Rainin wayo" means "not having regards for person" or to belittle person.
The whole interview stuff is funny because in my own case the complain was that I didn't label the paper that I wrote my SOP; I jus told her it escape my mind because I learnt that any questions could be asked.
The guy before me was asked how he obtained his first class even though he was Hausa and the panelist were Hausa; off course the guy was really angry.

You can look at it two ways, either positive or negative. Why can't you see that they were interested in giving you a perfect score and needed to justify that. I spent less than 3 mins at the same UI today and started wondering why I was not asked many questions. So every case is different and you need to believe whatever scenario you experienced was for the best.

Cheers.

God bless u bro, I think it's coz the "Hausas" aren't whining about their experiences so the guy complaining feels he was stereotyped, I did my F/G/C in ATBU my alma mata, 3 Hausas interviewed me, one was a woman, Prof of biological sciences, the other was a Dr, was a DD St NOSDRA, omo by the time they finished with me ehn, I was sweating, questioned my everything about me, from my degree to my work place, I was shocked when I was seeing testimonies of ppl saying "just know ur proposal well" baba my own na die oh!!!
I even had to call 2 of my friends one is a lecturer in ABU and also did his interview, but told me it was a war of words oh, and this person is from Kano and the panelists were also "Hausas". He even said he met one of d professors a few days later at a gathering and told d man he had lost hope coz of d way he was grilled, d prof laughed and told him that usually they take time on a person if they're interested in d topic and most or all of the panelists have a grounded knowledge on d proposed research area.
I spoke to my friend who did his in abj, all he told me was that "bro the event is better imagined than experienced ".
On the flip side of d coin I did my UK interview today in PH ACE-CEFOR and it was fantastic compared to my experience in my alma mata, the man that interviewed me was Yoruba (I think), and allowed me explain my methodology even when it seemed like he didn't understand, I made a statement while presenting, he just cut briefly by saying "that's a wrong assertion but I should go on we will talk about that when you're done with ur presentation".
So that person whining should know he wasn't in anyway singled out.
I wasn't there when he was interviewed by if I was to comment about it I'll say he tried to prove he knew too much & d panelists will be like "OK na let's go there"
All d best to all of us.

I think we were interviewed by same panelists then... Environmental/management....the woman is a prof... Then a Dr and one other guy (I don't know if he's a lecturer)
Confirm, smallish figure, fair and wears glasses, omo that woman finish me oh, 2 of my former classmates who are lecturers told me about her and they made an extra effort to avoid her by selecting a different research area even though their proposals were in environmental engineering, they went to face an engineering panel coz she interviewed them last year and they didn't find it funny.

I had my MSc interview today. I had it good. It was centred around my SoP *Why do I want to do an MSc? * Why did I select the course? *What is my greatest achievement? *How will it impact the oil and gas industry
They asked for publication and awards specifically. I pray it all works out for the best.

This is serious, it's looking like an unstructured interview, I mean why will you be asked about something you weren't told to come along with.

Cheers.

I was at UI today also, spent like 7mins.
Easy questions though.
1.what class of degree did you graduate with
2. Do you have any awards and publications.
3. Let us meet you
4. Was your project successful and do you have videos on it.
5. Why do you want a masters degree in the area you picked and not in the degree you did for undergraduate.
6. We wish you good luck.
