Good morning everyone, I have also been a silent follower for some time. I'm hoping to get some further insights please.
I'm soon to complete my online application and go for biometrics but I wanted to be sure of some things. Is it true I only need to take application form and passport to the appointment? What of previous passports I have? Do I submit them with the supporting docs to be sent to Sheffield?

Another question please. My UK husband says he wants to use Royal Mail to send all our docs to Sheffield. I will first send to him via DHL but he wants to use RM after that. Is this allowed? What experience do members have of this?

Thank you all so much for your assistance!

Your first question...yes they ll only take your recent passport and the first page of your application form. Every other document should be sent to ur hubby who ll send it to Sheffield.they ll tell u this when you go for biometrics.you can send photocopies of your old passports to him also to include.

Your second question. Yes u can send via DHL to ur hubby and he can send via Royal mail to Sheffield. Royal mail delivers to po box. He can use a tracking service to make sure it gets to sheffield .

Hello house. Good morning.

Please, is inclusion of tenancy agreement a must to meet the accommodation requirement?

Hubby lives in a rented apartment and we presented landlord's letter, property inspection report and utility/council tax bills.

I've been really bothered since I noticed we omitted the tenancy agreement... Do people get refused on this basis

I cant say if ull be refused on that basis but its a must to include tenancy agreement to meet accommodation requirement...mayb the gurus in the house will have a different opinion

As long as you have a letter from your landlord and property inspection report it's okay. Tenancy agreement is not a "must".

Hello House,
I was refused yesterday and I very sad about it.

The ECO who handled my case wasn’t nice at all.

My husband started a new job in September last year and has been in working before then. So we submitted 6months payslip that is 5months from his recent job and 1 month from his previous job wc ended in August last year. I was refused based on the fact that my husband hasn’t worked with his recent employer for 6months. My point is my husband still works and I believe if they needed his 6th month payslip the ECO should have sent an email. Plus my husband submitted a letter from his employer and also 6 months bank statement. Right now i am torn apart. I dunno if appealing is the way forward or I should just reapply. Please i need an urgent response.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about this........ I had a discussion about this same topic a few weeks ago. Another OP argued that I did not know what I was saying. I clearly started it was best to await for 6 months payslip (from the same employer)..... But the OP used too much grammar to almost scatter me, and I gave up.......

2 choices.........

You could appeal and be lucky the ECO advices you to withdraw your appeal and visa gets granted (cheapest option). But gamble might not pay off and you spend about 22 months on the appeal process.... OR

Reapply (if the funding is not too financially stressful)......

The 1 month payslip was a no no.

He did not meet up with Category B of the financial requirements if working with current employer for less than 6 months.

He needed to also proof that he had earned minimum 18600 in the last 12 months by adding additional payslips from previous employer.

Or to just wait extra 1 month before applying

Wow, thanks so much for the speedy reply! You guys are so helpful.

Please, I just checked my TB certificate. It says I must carry it with me when I (eventually) reach the UK border at Heathrow. But am not sure how this would work. I assumed they would send our supporting doc back to my husband (sponsor) at his UK address so must he then DHL the TB certificate to me in Nigeria before I fly?? It sounds stupid to ask sorry pls, I just want to be sure.

Additionally, does the Home Office send your docs back to you free of charge?? I heard before we have to get a prepaid envelope but am not sure Royal Mail do this...

U would have waited 6mnths to get the 6th month payslip before applying. On the other hand if u wanted to combine the old and new job u would have gotten 12mnths payslips..5mnths frm the new job and the rest from the old job...it was clearly stated in th requirements. If thats the only reason u were rejected, Moving foward i think u have 2 options...u either appeal and wait another 2yrs or u wait to get the complete payslips and then re apply.which will be a shorter route

Your first question..dont worry about travelling with the tb cert.u can just have a photocopy with u incase.most ppl here have said they were not asked to present it at the border when they arrived.
Your second question, if u want your docs to be returned to your partner in peace then U MUST include a prepaid stamped envelop in the package to be sent to Sheffield.they will put your docs in that envelop and send back to your partner. Home office WILL NOT send your docs back free of charge

Based on research thus far, I think you have to have spent 5 years on the Spouse Visa Line, the Tier 4 is a different visa line. So you will need to complete your 5 year route on the EU spouse visa.
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by oxygyne(m): 10:39am On May 19, 2018
UPDATE: so I got into England yesterday, no fuss at all at the immigration line. Just simply thump print and welcome.
But I had to be sure I used the right visa to get in because I still had my valid visit visa, so had to deliberately show my spouse visa to ensure they had the right recording...lol

oxygyne:
Hello everyone, time for me to say a big thank you to the Group for all the support with no recourse to public funds (lol). But sincerely you guys provide a great support system here and we (definitely I) do not take it for granted.

So the twist to my application is that:
- I have been in and out of England for a couple of years, on Tier 4 Visa and multiple visit visas
- But my wife and I got married in England while I was on my current multiple visit visa because we did not know it is not allowed.
- But when we gave notice at the registry, our details were sent to Home Office
- We got a letter from UKBA about an ongoing investigation into our proposed marriage
- Few months later, we got another letter saying we could go ahead with the marriage
- We got married in January 2018 in England.
- I was worried this might affect the visa application

But below is the Timeline for my Settlement (Husband) Visa Application:

Online Application Submitted: 22/02/2018 Priority
Biometric Taken: 26/02/2018
Doc Sent: 08/03/2018
Confirmation of delivery to Sheffield POBox through Royal Mail Special Delivery: 09/03/2018
Generic email from VISAINFO.SHEFO@fco.gov.uk: 17/03/2018
Called to check if supporting documents were received but not meaningful response: 13/04/2018
No email from UKBA at all
No Calls to sponsor or sponsor's employer (well not that we know of)
Passport collection email: 25/04/2018
Passport collected with visa: 26/04/2018 (30 working days from receipt of document in Sheffield excluding Easter Holiday)
Settlement (Husband) Visa Successful.

I have attached the checklist of all the documents we submitted and how we arranged it. Please note that this is a personal preference, this arrangment and documents is based on our situation.

Thank you all once again. Nerve racking process, however God will always show up mighty.

Did anyone hear about the federal high court judgement in Lagos this past week stating that weddings conducted at the Ikoyi federal marriage registry are invalid? Anyone?

And what or how does this judgement affect spouse visa applicants who had their weddings at this court/registry. Let’s discuss this fellas and ladies in the house.
