However,she must brace herself for the life ahead.Her parents are not going to give her support,she has to take care of her bills and take care of the baby all by herself.

kids in our motherless homes don't just land there. if proper provision and planning was in place to monitor the pregnancy transitions, we would have lesser kids found in trash dumps. this is not the first time of my taking such women under my care.

That's a right step to take.Involve the police and a lawyer.

update. aunt is trying to skip appearing. also, her dad tried to trick her into going back. seems the whole family is trying to avoid an undertaking at the police station. smelling ulterior motives.

apologies for not updating. she is fine and with her aunt after having settled with the dad. she plans on giving the baby up for adoption after delivery.

the adoption thing came up a few days ago and knowing that i ought to update that here, i was a little hesitant so as not to put some foster people's hopes too high and later dash it. let's remember she still acts little and can change her mind.

Just look at the situation sef The baby daddy is irresponsible, already has baby momma and does not want the child, the girl is 24 and obviously have no source of income to take care of the child. Reality is different from fiction and making babies is not same as making bread. It requires lots of money, time, attention to say the least,not fiction and wishes . Add jobless, irresponsible parents to it all then safe D&C is an option.
More reasons we keep having house helps maltreatment, touts, irresponsible children begotten by irresponsible parents who never wanted or planned for them. The vicious cycle of poverty continues while we continue hoping and praying.
The frustration we are suddenly seeing manifesting daily in our society (daddy burning baby's hand cos he ate a piece of meat, a spoon of rice, mothers selling their two years old children for 150K,madams beating their 7 years old house helps to death etc) are all effects of keeping unplanned, unwanted pregnancies.
Abortion is not the solution, safe sex is,but also the best and only genuine safety a young girl can have in the face of unwanted pregnancy are : financially and/or emotional support from her parents, financial support from baby daddy and financial and emotional independence. When none of this is in place, the earlier she picks option 2, safe D&C, the better for her.

Also, y'all should stop flaunting this "adoption" on our faces biko. Millions of babies are in orphanage homes in Nigeria (most homes are struggling to survive, take care of the kids), no one is adopting them, so I wonder what makes this very child special that s/he will just be adopted the moment s/he is birthed.

As unpopular as ifyalways could be at times, she's 100% correct in this case. Yes! Abortion isn't the best option, but the quality of children being raised nowadays is appalling. Immature parents begetting unruly children. The society, at the long run, is at the receiving end.

Raising just a child is no child's play, even with all the financial support (if raised accordingly).

Ify is a grandmother. I am a father. I can tell you it takes a lot to raise a child.

This is becoming a cycle. Parents being responsible for their children even after marriage. They keep grooming them into their 30s and 40s. Their lives are on pause cos they had a child...

Even single parenting is no fun for the single parent, the society and most especially the child. The fall back is always there.

So seriously I would advise a pregnant ladies or girls with no option to walk to the manager of reputable orphanages and seek their help, we never know until we try. We shouldn't subconsciously keep discouraging people from following the high road.
