Frumentius made that claim. He specifically said over-hauls like what we are seeing can only be done in South-Africa.

Infact he went further to claim Denel engineers were the reason NAF C-130's are in the sky.

- Denel isn't involved in any maintenance of NAF c130s even though it's the only Lockheed MRO in Africa.
- NAFs MI35m has way more advanced systems than the Rooivalk.....you have yet to mention 1 system in the Mi35m that is more advanced than what is in the Rooivalk.

these are just 2 claims you've made in the last couple of weeks.

- Can you provide evidence to support your claim that Denel is involved in maintenance of NAF's C-130s, especially in this dispensation?

- Yes, NAF MI-35m's are the most advanced Attack Helicopters in sub-saharan Africa. The stats are available in the open web.

They are the Lockheed MRO in Africa...that's literally evidence. How else are Nigeria going to get an accredited overhaul of it's C130 fleet?

- Except:
jln115:

Not hating.........uhm but could you answer a few questions?

Does the Mi35m feature a better EW suite than SAABs IDAS which is used on the Su30mkm as well as Gripen E/F?

Does the Mi35m feature a better HMSD than the TopOwl which is also used on the T-129?..........does the Mi35m even have a HMD?

Is the Mi35m equipped with Radar......Let me answer, no it's not.

Does the Mi35m(specifically NAF) feature a data link?

Can munition fired from the Mi35m be designated by other platforms be it air or land?

Does the MI35m have an Automated Flight Control System?

Is the Mi35m designed for stealth with low radar, visual, infrared and acoustic signatures?

Rooivalk can be equipped with a 20mm cannon, Mokopa, FZ guided rockets, A-darter(in near future) , Mistral AA missiles....what more do you want?

So considering we are on false claims, just today Henry claimed this:

Henry240:

Frumentius made that claim. He specifically said over-hauls like what we are seeing can only be done in South-Africa.

Infact he went further to claim Denel engineers were the reason NAF C-130's are in the sky.

Here's what Frum actually said:
frumentius:

And that company in turn, has decided to recruit so MRO work can be done at the operators' countries instead of bringing aircraft to South Africa. Unlike the past when all this work - and money - was undertaken outside our continent.

This is the question i asked you.

Don't tell me you have a degree, tell me the name of the university you passed from.

On the MI-35m, the Nigerian Air Force evaluated both the MI-35m and Rooivalk, the service went for the MI-35m.

- General Maintenance is carried out by NAF(or what ever private company the NDF hired to help with maintenance) BUT Milestone Maintenance, Repair and complete overhaul one would need the OEM(lockheed) to be involved.

- I've mentioned the University i graduated from several times in the past,

They did not evaluate the Rooivalk....in fact NAF already purchased the Mi35 before even going to the Rooivalk demonstration.

Whole comment

frumentius:

So about what are you arguing? I would think we all here should applaud that an American company (Lockheed), European (Airbus Helicopters) and Russian (Russian Helicopters) have all entrusted the servicing and maintenance of all their civilian and military products on the African continent to an African company, Denel Aviation. And that company in turn, has decided to recruit so MRO work can be done at the operators' countries instead of bringing aircraft to South Africa. Unlike the past when all this work - and money - was undertaken outside our continent.

What about this clashes with or contrasts "the available information to which [you are] privy"?

Understood,my dude,no harm no foul! I do hope you can at least expound on your PAW situation. IIRC it was first issued to your Recces but will soon be standard issue on the platoon level. Denel says
http://www.denel.co.za/press-article/The-%E2%80%9CBull%E2%80%9D-In-Denel%E2%80%99s-Kraal-Gets-Even-Better/149

You already have RPGs ,a BMG,60 mm mortars and shorter range Milkors on the platoon level-why the Inkunzi PAW,imo, its overkill. Why not rework SS 77 to the .338 Norma as General Dynamics has already done with a 240? Establishing traditional fire superiority and suppressive fire at longer ranges makes more sense than highly selective plinking on any battlefield from Bangui to Beirut or Basra.

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2012/05/16/338-nm-lightweight-medium-machine-gun-lwmmg/

I ask cause I really don't see the need for this on the platoon level, the weapons platoon along with heavier mortars, yes. 61mech and frumentius, enlighten me please.

Frummie,61mech,I know its the weekend and also that time of the month again, judging from the last few posts but still awaiting your knowledge.

Henry240:

You're the one seeing a problem. I definitely am not seeing any. My comments are based on the information i had. We also don't fly our aircrafts out for PDM, they are all done in-country.

That's not the information currently available to us. Hence i'll have to wait for clarification from the NAF.

According to the Data i have, it doesn't correlate with what you've presented.

You don't suppose i'll just agree, do you?

....And here is the NAF on it's Helicopter Maintenance facility in Minna, Niger state.

https://www.naij.com/693182-nigerian-air-force-builds-helicopter-hangar-minna.html

And here is a joint report talking about both the C-130 and Helicopter maintenance.

He said the helicopter PDM will take care of servicing all
helicopters of the NAF instead of flying them abroad for
maintenance or bringing in expatriates to fix them, as was
obtainable in the past.

Fumentius

Nigerian Air Force maintenance facility in at the Air Mobility Command in Lagos carrying out a complete overhaul of NAF C-130 and G-222, both are visible in the hangar. The jobs are carried out by AESTL and BCGneeds.

C-130 913 delivered after over-haul, and 917 in the hangar. There's no evidence available to support your Denel claim. Until one is provided, it is not permissible.

Jakeporeshenko, do you notice that the C-130s in the background are wearing a new grey camouflage. Can you confirm this?

you just don't get it do you? If it's milestone maintenance or a complete overhaul where will NAF get the parts, expertise or the technicians to assemble the entire aircraft? If its an extensive overhaul you will certainly need the OEM which in this case is Lockeed.

Or are you telling me NAF designs, manufactures and assembles all C130 parts?

No, it is you who doesn't get it.

Nigerian Air Force completely overhauling a C-130 in-country.

This is the fact we can all see. I'll recommend you advice your government to transfer your moribound C-130s to Nigeria for overhauling.

The maintenance is being done in Nigeria by French company, Sabena technics. They helped us restore a C-130 in 2014

https://www.sabenatechnics.com

http://www.defenceweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-36979/

Denel has never been involved an might never be (at the rate we are building human capacity at home)
Can you allow the whole thread rest now ?

Naahh we will continue using an accredited Lockheed service center for our maintenance and overhauls.....if what you say is indeed true and Lockeed is not even involved in any of your C130 overhauls only God knows what cooked up chinese copy parts are used instead of genuine Lockheed parts.... Never mind the people putting it all together.

Lastly at least I've seen all but 2 of our 9 moribound c130s in the air in the past year and a half.

I've literally only ever seen NAF:913,917 and 918 operational... Ever!!!
