From the money, the community setup some projects and the remainder was to be shared among married men. Omoh, see how 17 year old boys just dey marry to get their share oil money. Most were arranged marriages anyway.

I usually go there after school and work for them for free. Whenever a computer spoils, they'll open it and repair it in minutes. These guys were computer gurus.

This was were I learned about computer components like the motherboard, RAM, ROM, powerpack, how to repair a computer, how connect an RJ45 cable to distribute internet across all the computers in the office.

When we close at night, I'll go home with their modem to use and surf the net since Starcomms doesn't use data cap.

Unfortunately, I always find myself on a porn site instead of using the free internet to do something meaningful.

After some weeks, I stopped going home with the modem. My friend noticed it and asked why, but I didn't tell him the real reason.

Now, I have saved myself from this brewing porn addiction, I installed Mavis Beacon and started practicing again.

So, I left the country to study (a computer-related course) in another man's country.

We all had a personal laptop to facilitate our studies. I noticed all my Oyibo and Asian course mates typed without looking at their keyboards, but all my Nigerian course mates always look at their keyboards and they type like snail.

In fact, if they want to spell the word "Go" they'll start rolling their eyes as they look for the letter "G" on the keyboard.

When they get it, they'll go on a Gulder Ultimate Search on their keyboards looking for the letter "O." I was angry with my Nigerian course mates. They typed as if the letters on the keyboard were invincible.

On the other hand, I was typing like my magician cousin and my fellow country men were surprised at how effortless I did it. This became their motivation to learn typing skill.

After some months, I called my friend in Nigeria and asked him if they still have light and he said for 7 months now the light has never blinked let alone go.

On my side, it's the same too, but we pay light bill here unlike in the villa where all things are free.

My studies continued and cool things happened, but let's not talk about them, but some benefits of the typing skill.

Benefits 1: In class, we learned HTML, CSS, Java, Javascript, PHP, etc. Whenever we're coding, I'll see my Nigerian guys looking at their keyboards just to type a simple HTML code, but I'll close my eyes and do it.

Isn't the skill I trekked for 3 hours for weeks or months to learn in the village paying off? Yes it is.

Benefits 2: Since I love music and wanted to go into music after graduation, I purchased a Japanese keyboard and learned how to play the piano in less than 2 months.

Some people said the piano is hard, but to me, it wasn't. Why do they say it's hard? It's because of the finger pains they go through at the initial stage, but in my case, 70% of the pain was spent during the typing skill days.

I didn't feel the pains most new players usually feel. After mastering the piano, learning all the scales, chords, arpeggios, reading sheet music and all, I purchased a guitar and mastered the fretboard with ease.

I didn't feel much finger pains as new players usually do. My dexterity exercises during the typing skill days was still helping me out.

I went ahead to buy a violin and that was how I continued learning them with ease while other learners always struggled. Yes, I learned them from YouTube.

Benefits 3: Warning! Skip this part if you're below 18.

Another benefit is in the bedroom. After fingering a certain oyibo woman, she wanted my fingers everyday. In fact, she wanted marriage, but I was too young for that.
