Lexusgs430: Oh no, what I meant is that he doesn’t have control of the outcome of the credit check if he needs it for a job. But he has control over a credit check for a credit card by making sure he applies for the right credit card and would have lived here for at least 6 months. If he applies for a job now with his none-existent credit history, last last they will turn him down if they won’t manage him like that- he has no control over that, is what I meant. |

Aphrodite007: Fully understood, I probably drank too much zobo and not fully understanding your points.... If the applicant with 0 credit check applies for a job, they can still get the job. It depends on the employer and how the applicant sells himself/herself........ |

Lexusgs430: didn’t know zobo use to high somebody! Exactly! Credit check for a job should be the least of his worries unless he has bad credit history. My work place are crazy strict with credit checks (to avoid fraudulent acts) but I still got employed with my minimal existing credit history. But when it came to getting my credit card, I didn’t gamble like that |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Aphrodite007(f): 9:25pm On Jun 13, 2018 |
fatima04: For banks for instance, they want to know you are responsible and will not steal customer data/money. Once you have bad credit history, lai lai o, thy would rather take a prisoner over you. They believe people with bad credit history mostly gamble and can’t risk someone like that around people’s money/data. Aphrodite007: Who will take take people with criminal record? That is why everything you do in UK, you have to put your career path into consideration. If you are going for roles that require security clearance like DV and SC, they will want to know eveything about you including who you are having extra marital affairs with an so on...it is that intrusive and it takes like 6 months to process. During that period, if you are on site, you will be escorted everywhere including toilet breaks. In my last role, they had to escort one guy out of the site after a week cos they found something during his security checks. Please protect your credit and avoid criminal records even traffic offences. 6 Likes |

Aphrodite007: passing credit job for a job that requires such really matters. i know someone that had a job offer withdrawn just because of a missed telephone bill. apparently, he was sent an unusually high phone bull and he chose to dispute it. however rather than paying off the bill first and then disputing it with his mobile operator, he chose not to pay the bill. it went down on his file as a missed payment. 1 Like |

Ralphlauren: RBS will withdraw any employment contract if you have a default on your credit file. |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by Ralphlauren(m): 3:00pm On Jun 14, 2018 |
fatima04: credit decisioning does not work that way. there are software used to run checks on applicants that can within seconds check and confirm how long the applicant has lived at a particular address. if a firm uses such software, then expect your application to be refused. if there is a suspected discrepancy, a few might ask you to present paperwork confirming you've actually lived at the address for the duration you've claimed. finally, i wont suggest telling lies in an application to obtain credit. it is seen as fraud and people do get in trouble for it. there are other ways to build up one's credit history. a bank overdraft as low as £50 -£100 is an example. |

wonlasewonimi: you are right. I know a white dude that was with LBG and was offered a contract with RBS. the offer was withdrawn all because he had ONE missed mortgage payment from years ago which he claimed was as a result of an issue with his bank. most companies especially financial institutions do not joke with an untidy credit file. |

Ralphlauren: They are a crazy bunch. They don't waive it for anyone...since they dropped so many people after the failed Williams and Glyn project, I won't touch them with a large barge pole. The fuckeers spent £2bn on a project and decided to cancel it. |

wonlasewonimi: RBS matter requires divine intervention. that their 'project rainbow' was an absolute disgrace. It made a lot of guys millionaires though. the plus with RBS is that they offer relatively long contracts. I know peeps that have been contracting with them for 4years + |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by wonlasewonimi: 3:46pm On Jun 14, 2018 |
Ralphlauren: Yes o. Guys made shitload from RBS but they flooded the market with contractors making it tough to get roles. It's part of the reason PM roles became useless (my opinion sha). Fatima04's effort is commendable most guys give up easily. I remember when I started, I must have gone for like 100 interviews. I messed up some because I was using the same phone. A recruiter could call whilst I was on the bus and I answered and started misyarning. So I got the trick to get a burner phone... Any call that I receive through that I know it's for work... And sometimes I let them drop voicemail so I go to quiet area to deal with them. There is always the odd recruiter that would take interest in you and give you the chance you need. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

wonlasewonimi: I agree @ PM roles. Anthing PM related - Project manager oh, PMO analyst oh, PMO support oh, blah blah are getting quite hard to come by these days. at its peak, PMO Analyst roles (glorified admin assistant in my own opinion) were cashing as much as £300 -£500 a day but now the roles are being advertised for as low as £150-£200 and those paying well are usually domain specific. the Project Manager roles these days come with very stringent requirements my trick with them recruiters is to allow their call ring to voicemail. most times they leave a voicemail and/or a follow up email asking me to contact them. this gives me time to prepare before returning their call. 8 Likes |

Hi guys thanks for all your contributions on the credit search. From my research it seems it is impossible to actually get a credit report as an individual if you cannot provide about 5 years UK address history. Just as @Ralphlauren said “there are software used to run checks on applicants that can within seconds check and confirm how long the applicant has lived at a particular address. If a firm uses such software, then expect your application to be refused” My credit search is meant to be for a job, I wanted to have an idea of what prospective employers will see on my report. |
