I digress. Meanwhile, below is the kind of news coming out of Little India about cement consumption: cool

https://constructionreviewonline.com/2018/05/cement-consumption-in-kenya-hugely-decreases/

Kenya registers huge
decrease in cement
consumption
Cement consumption in Kenya has hugely
decreased for the first time in 17 years. Its use
has gone down by a whopping 6.2 million tonnes
and this is mainly due to the low demand that is
currently being experienced in the construction
sector; this is according to the Economic Survey
2018 released by Kenya National Bureau of
Statistics (KNBS).

Does it not shame you Little Indians Kenyans that your country struggles seriously against a poorly run country of180m? Your economy is even smaller than that of Ghana which has 27million people. How on earth can you explain that $70bn sh.itty economy? You import corn from Ethiopia and raw eggs from Uganda. Meanwhile you export coffee raw to import nescafe. Of course, the only thing you can say in your own defense is that you possess no oil or gold or diamond. That's the usual lame African excuse. Meanwhile, nature has blessed you much. It baffles me why with the huge tourism potential that you have, you can't attract up to 2million tourists and earn up to $2bn from tourism per year. Imagine if you were to make feature or period movies with those sweeping natural views that Kenya is blessed with. Instead you are making gay movies. Your economy and stats are too bad for a 50m country, rafiki. You need to ask your polithiefians serious questions. Instead y'all here praising a poohole country. Your rulers would sleep easy if they read this thread, knowing fully well their arses are well covered by their idiot minions. It proves what we have been saying that you people are too laid back. Is it any wonder your few notable towns were built by foreigners and your most important companies and platforms from ccHub to Mpesa were all started by foreigners? This is a heartfelt message. Take it or leave it.

An 8% decline caused by extended politicking! Our fundamentals are still solid. Wait and see the recovery this year. I'd rather avoid mention of movies since I really don't want to mention the new Nollywood genre of adult movies.

First of all,
Kenya HAS NEVER IMPORTED CORN FROM ETHIOPIA, EVER!!!
The lies you people tell!! We have a tariff wall with our northern neighbour
Kenya imports corn from Uganda, Uganda and Tanzania supplied 8% of Kenya's corn in 2017 because we had a drought
Meaning Kenya supplies 92% and when there is no drought, we import ZERO corn from the two nations.
On the other hand ,Kenya supplies milk to Uganda every year except for three years 2009, 2015 and 2017 when the opposite actually occured due to the drought we had in those three years that saw Ugandans supply 14% of our milk in the three years.
The seamless trade we have between Kenya,Uganda and Rwanda allows for such cycles to occur. We export food when we are abundant and Uganda has food shortages and the reverse happens when we have a drought.
Another trashy lie is that we import raw eggs from Uganda.
Uganda has never had an egg surplus and Kenya has never had an egg shortage. Where are you getting this crap from??
As for tourism,Does Nigeria ,when you remove the Nigerian diaspora whom you count as tourists , even attract half a millionIf we used your methodology of counting Kenyan diaspora visiting Kenya like you do we would be having 4 million Tourists then since we have a million Kenyans outside the country who come back from other East African nations and the Middle East twice a year!!!
SMH!!
Like other East ,Central and Southern African nations, we only count foreigners as tourists.A person visiting Kenya from the diaspora is not counted as a tourist the way Nigeria and Ghana count their tourists.
Also , domestic tourists are not counted in those figures, yet last year 4 million Kenyans travelled domestically.Half the bookings at the national parks were by LOCALS!!
https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/article/2001271346/big-boost-for-local-tourism-as-kenyans-travel-more

My generation, Millenials travel a lot within Kenya.Naivasha and coastal road trips are the norm every weekend for Nairobians while Coasterians like me visit game parks and the North in groups
https://www.nation.co.ke/newsplex/domestictourism/2718262-4580234-q4hekkz/index.html
What of Nigerians, your definition of international tourism is sneaking into Europe illegally through boats in the Med!!
As for domestic tourism, Nigeria has little to offer
Tiny National parks with few animals
Your Beaches are CRAP!!! Especially in Delta State. The sand of ALL West African beaches is the one used in Construction unlike the beach just 500 metres from my parents house in Mombasa which is a soft white powdery texture. You have no coral reefs or anything of note to explore in your oceans while in Mombasa we scuba dive to the most beautiful coral beds and explore wrecks like MV Diana
Natural scenery.
Adamawa and Niger State have good scenery.
That is about it.
That is in contrast to all the 47 counties in Kenya.Heck Nairobi has a National park in its borders,Mombasa has a Marine Park and A Marine Reserve
Kisumu has the Impala Sanctuary and Ndere Island National Park .Nakuru has Lake Nakuru National Park,Menengai Crater and Soysambu all within its vicinity. You do not need to go far to see breathtaking views in Kenya.

Kenya is second largest source of Remittance to many countries in East Africa after US. FDI or size of diaspora is nothing to celebrate. I am pretty sure we are now one source of REMITTANCE to your poor country. Nigerians in Kenya are busy sending your money.

We are of course the major source of FDI to East Africa countries.

Nigeria has crap power supply but still beat u in manufacturing sector which is power intensive.

Nigeria n Kenya both have d same water distribution rate at 70%. most Nairobi residents use borehole water.

Nigerian literacy rate is lower than Kenya but d literates in Nigeria is more than double ur entire population.

Healthcare is worse in Kenya as Nigeria, keep fooling yourself once more, u have 1 doc for 1000patients and Nigeria has 1 doc for 1600patients. If Ur healthcare system was as good as u described, why would ur govt import Cuban docs this past week? Keep living in a fools paradise, pal.

If u had taken time to read the link carefully,u would have seen 'The data presented below is through 2018 Values presented in $USD' and not before Nigeria's recession.
who cares about naira vs shilling conversion rate when it's useless, economist use PPP.
1.Nairobi Residents DO NOT use Borehole water. What Nonsense is thisNairobi City bylaws CHARGE you for NOT using Municipal Water!!!If you drill a borehole in Nairobi, You PAY to use that borehole water. We have had this law in Nairobi since the Colonial era after Ruiru Dam was built
98% of Nairobi's water comes from DAMS located in Central Kenya
Ndakaini Dam supplies 80% of Nairobi's water
https://jambonairobi.co.ke/services/water-in-nairobi/water-supply-to-nairobi/3/
18% of Nairobi's water comes from Sasumua Dam,Ruiru Dam and Kikuyu Springs.
From 2022, the Muranga Water tunnel will match Ndakaini in Water supply.
Only 2% of Nairobi's water comes from boreholes. The current Governor TRIED to drill boreholes last year but residents refuse to drink borehole water
Lagos on the other hand gets MOST OF ITS WATER FROM BOREHOLES!!!
https://www.cnn.com/2017/05/26/africa/lagos-water-opinion-piece/index.html
https://rwsn.blog/2014/06/27/manually-drilled-wells-providing-water-in-nigerias-megacity-of-lagos-and-beyond/
Dear lord, Lagos alone has 4000 borehole drillers and parts of Lagos are in danger of sinking and in fact your underground water is being polluted
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/03/water-pollution-lagos-moves-check-indiscriminate-sinking-boreholes/
So No.
On access to safe water and Sanitation. You speak the truth for a bit
Nigeria access rate is 67% translating to OVER 100 MILLION NIGERIANS LACKING SAFE WATER AND SANITATION!!
Ew.
Kenya's access to clean water and Sanitation stands at 69% and those without access are concentrated in the North and West.Nigeria's access is actually worse in your urban areas while in Kenya urban areas have an access rate of 82%
http://documents.worldbank.org/curated/en/566381502379018228/A-Wake-up-call-Nigeria-Water-Supply-Sanitation-and-Hygiene-Poverty-Diagnostic
Nairobi even has water kiosks that provide clean treated piped(but more expensive than if you live in an estate) water in slum areas.
So No.
2Manufacturing.
Are you joking?
Again, who is the largest exporter of manufactured items to the US under AGOA as of 2015 ??Do Check!!!
https://agoa.info/news/article/5919-kenya-keen-to-increase-number-of-exports.html
Nigeria only exports oil to the US under AGOA
In fact Nigeria hardly exports any manufactured goods at all.98% of your exports are oil and petroleum products!!!
Nigeria has a substandard domestic manufacturing industry that only sells items in Nigeria.Your manufacturing industry is like ours in the 1970 when Import substitution was the norm in Kenya.
Nigeria's manufacturing industry, if it was to be opened up, would shrink because Nigerian industries actually declared they could not even compete with the likes of Rwanda, heck even Benin in terms of palm oil because apparently Benin makes cheaper Palm oil https://newtelegraphonline.com/2018/03/continental-free-area-will-stifle-nigerias-economy-experts/
https://www.businesspost.ng/2018/03/13/continental-free-trade-area-may-cripple-nigerian-economy-labour-expert/
Kenya's manufacturing has been liberalized since 1994.
It crashed
Then from 2000 onwards, it has been rising and is now more export oriented with textiles our biggest single commodity
Kenya's healthcare ranking vs Nigerian healthcare ranking
https://photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html
Kenya 140
Nigeria 188 out of 200.
We have 20 countries in between.
Kenya's Healthcare is bad.
Nigeria's is worse, 28 countries worse
Kenya has a poor public healthcare system.
Unlike Nigeria. WE ARE ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
That is why we are bringing in Cuban Doctors!!!
Kenya's doctor to patient ratio is high. That is because most doctors are in private healthcare rather than public healthcare.
That is the reason why we brought in Cuban doctors. And I hope we steal more doctors from the rest of Africa the way the NHS and Canada steals from developing nations.
What is Nigeria doing to solve its even worse healthcare system.
Absolutely.
Nothing.
We have reformed our National Hospital Insurance Fund (around since 1966, unlike Nigeria's National Health Insurance Scheme which has been around since 1999) and as of 2017 6.5 million Kenyans(excluding family members, meaning more are covered) have NHIF.
41% of Nairobians have health cover.
This year, NHIF became compulsory for all secondary school students.Unlike the standard cover where members pay the premium, the GOVERNMENT covers all the medical costs of secondary school students under the scheme. This adds an extra three million people
https://www.capitalfm.co.ke/news/2018/04/president-launches-sh4bn-nhif-cover-students-public-secondary-schools/
The idea is that the students will immediately switch to the premium based cover on turning 24 years of age when the cover ends.
Kenya is heading towards Universal Health Insurance anchored on NHIF. A phenomenon recognized worldwide(which is why we are importing doctors from Cuba.We want quality public healthcare. We are even working with Thailand on the matter)
https://openknowledge.worldbank.org/handle/10986/23485
http://www.ke.undp.org/content/kenya/en/home/presscenter/articles/2018/united-nations-in-kenya-committed-to-universal-health-care.html
Now Nigeria's National Health Insurance scheme covers a paltry 1.5% of Nigerians.
In essence, you are where Kenya's NHIF was in 1985
According to your OWN newspapers, 60 billion Naira is spent on 450,000 Nigerians under that scheme as of 2017!!!!Compare that to Kenya which had 6.5 million people under NHIF in 2017 and 10 million this year!!

Regarding ur trade data...
despite all u export, how come u still have a negative trade balance? .I don't think your trade balance has ever been positive...

Regarding your healthcare... why the hell are you bringing in doctors fr Cuba? grin ...I thought you folks brag that ur universities are world class and produce quality graduates..or was that another of ur many lies? grin U produce junk doctors right? grin ...or is ur government trying to punish ur healthcare workers for this continual strike actions ?
In Nigeria, doctors leave the country in large numbers mostly due to the low pay they get,but the fact that they are being accepted abroad means they were well groomed in the skill here... Kenya on the other hand don't doesn't trust its own doctors to run its healthcare... his funny.
.no wonder foreigners run a significant chunk of ur $70b economy grin

Brutality.

I wonder what kind of stories Nigerians tell themselves lol. Every Nigerian you meet seems to believe strongly that they somehow have a mark on the Kenyan economy with other fools deluding themselves that they control some sizeable amount of our economy lol. Most Nigerians living here in Kenya are crammed in small rooms in Zimmerman and Umoja doing petty businesses. One used to sell beans and chapati to construction workers for a project I was supervising. The few rich ones don't really invest in Kenya but are mostly drug peddlers and con men who use Nairobi as a transit route since Aviation is not as developed in Nigeria as it is in Kenya.

Ouch! Ordinary people with a sense of shame would flee yelping like hurt dogs! Sadly,we're dealing with Dangotelanders. Its very true about local tourism,BTW I've noticed it myself.
Any local airport is filled with at least 80% locals in the holiday season.

A simple fact will kill this thread, the Kenyan economy is owned by foreigners. You have literally no really successful native black African entrepreneurs...

Your rich lists are dominated by groups of foreign heritage.

You have no Dangotes or Folorunso Alakijas. Please note the richest Black man and woman on planet earth are Nigerians.

I was saddened by this when my wife told me her experiences in East Africa and how Indians often mistreat you guys in your own nation.. Yet you have the gall to come to Nairaland and talk..

Secondly Nigerians are the only groups bar Indians and Chinese to have a very successful diaspora. We have succeeded in both the UK and America. Outpacing the native white average academically in both nations!!! Can Kenyans say the same.

We are over represented in music and film globally. How many mainstream Hollywood Black actors are Nigeria from Boyega to Chiwetel Ejiofor are Nigerians. Kenyans should be quiet. To music like Afrobeats, to older musicians like Sade and Seal. Hell we even dominate Indie music with the lead singer of a massive band Bloc Party being Nigerian..

What cultural mark have Kenyans left on the world? We have Nobel Laureates.. Heck bar the Massai, you guys don't even have a native national attire. We have the beautiful flowing Agbada in both the north and south..

Kenyans don't come to this thread again or I will give you another lashing. Mumu people you aren't ready to compare yourself to Naija..

If you have a wifey then you married too soon!

You are asking what cultural mark Kenyans have left on the world? Plus you think we have no nobel? All that list of Nigerians are dwarfed by one kenyan and you know him. He was at the white house and he wasnt acting! You have actors, and so do we! A list was given some pages back I presume you just lazy!

As always I say, your work Nigerians is to entertain us! Nothing else.
