Hello E-Fam,

Please would like some input on this.

I have some pending interviews like part of this week and next week.

I have an offer of 65k/yr presently from the first interview I have ever done in Canada just last week.

Just got into the country last month...started applying for jobs the first week of this month.

For someone in ONT is this good offer or should I see what the other guys will offer.

Elder Blackbuddy Help your boy oh!

Hi, you need to provide more context smiley

What is your experience and what is the role? With more details, we could see if it's a fair offer but I must say, 65k on its own is a fair first offer. Congratulations!

How long does it take to get the PR card.

3 weeks ago, a little over a month of landing I was asked to send new passport photos which I did send and got to them 4 days after and til now no PR card, No update, nothing.

Is this normal?

It does take a while. I think especially when they have to ask you to provide more info or update photos, etc.

Arrived mid January. 6 weeks later with no info on our PR cards, so linked the PR card application to mycic account. 2 days later got an email asking for new passport photos (not saying we got the update because the application was linked, it was probably coincidental). Sent in the passport photos next day and my spouse got the PR card approved and delivered 4 weeks later (altogether about 10 weeks after arrival). I don't understand why, but mine took a further 4 weeks before it got updated to approved on mycic account and delivered in the post.

So, although timelines are sometimes quoted as 4-6 weeks, mine took 14 weeks to get delivered. At the same time, some people have received theirs within the quoted 4-6 weeks.

Haha. Just relax. One thing I have understood about CIC is that their ways are not our ways, they work in their own mysterious timelines.
This is why some people get their PPR under one month while another gets PPR in 7 months even though their application is similar.
Some get COPR 2 weeks after passport submission while another person gets over a month.
So this is also going to be the case when it comes to PR cards. Some will get in 1 month while some other in 3 to 4months. The best thing is to relax and wait for them.

Same scenario here. So I called their office yesterday to find out what's up. The lady who spoke with me said they are currently treating profiles of those who sent in their photos in the first week of May - that they are dealing on a weekly "batch" basis. That sort of made sense because I sent my photos based on their request in the 3rd week of May. July looks highly probable, I guess.

Thank you for your response @maternal.

We chose Calgary because my husband is in the oil and gas sector. I know a lot of jobs have been lost worldwide due to the oil price. But I believe it will pick up in years to come.

Thanks, you have really put my mind at rest. I was dreading the COLD!

I am also looking forward to continuing my business there. I have a toddler and I know it would be difficult to get a full time job and afford a minder for her. I also do not want to be idle. I won't worry much about those technicalities now.

The first video is very very inspiring. This is a society that is truly concerned about its citizens.

Congratulations in arrears on your relocation to Canada. Please I would like to know how true the statement below is:?

(Having a close relative in Canada is essential to getting picked out of the pool in Express entry)

Hello kissoflife,

Please how do I link my PR card to my CIC account and how soon after landing can this be done?

Thanks in advance...

1) Login to CIC account.
2) Go to section "Link an existing application to this account". Click on "Link application to this account" button.
3) Select category as PR Card
4) Select "Unique Client Identifier (UCI) and Family Name"
5) Fill required details (please make sure of capital, small, comma etc.)
6) Provide landing date in "Date you became a permanent resident"
7) Click on 'search my application'
cool after application searched, make sure you submit application else it not link

Once you have successfully linked your application it will show you as "Submitted" status and once it is ready for dispatch it will go into "Approved" status.

The steps above were copied from a Blackbuddy's post and it worked for me but after like a month of landing.

Hi everyone. For those who are already living in Canada with their family thru EE or FSW.
Please is it true that if one does not have a relative in Canada, one might not be picked from the pool.

1) am expecting my visa to be out any moment from now. Is actually a TWO YEAR WORK VISA.
my issues now is that I don't know if I will still be asked at point of entry to show POF.. and how much do you think I can go to Canada with, to sustain me before I get a job.
2) what and what am I supposed to travel with, as I don't have anybody when I land.
3)can someone advise me as per short stay hotel and permanent accommodation.
3)i studied electrical engineering, so which of the state will I be able to get a job quickly.
4)do you think I can go for a menial job first before I settle for a full time professional job. How do I go about it.
5)how do I really go about job hunting and accommodation.
6)how do I get a work permit

Please I need response s plus. Help your fellow brother in the struggle.

Hello Seniors/ Supply chain professional in the house. Pls has anybody sat for the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) Executive challenge Examinations.? And if yes, was it that easy to pass to achieve the SCMP?

I was asked to write it to achieve the Canadian SCMP designation.

Congrats bro...just the right time...so happy for you...

bros how did you go about it?, i mean is the profession not Regulated or some simply get LUCKY? ...if yes, this your own must be miracle...more like it i pray...

Once again congrats, and please respond regarding I.T being regulated [Network/Admin/Server] or is the regulation province dependent? or certain criteria?
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by solos007: 12:10am On Jun 20, 2018
No, IT is not a regulated field in Canada.

The only thing is if you need to work in a highly information sensitive environment, you will need security clearance.

You can't get that as a PR. Only Canadian citizens are entitled to such IT security status.

Always Taylor your cv to the job you are applying for. Take note of the responsibilities and the requirements.

Make sure you can defend whatever you write on your cv. Most especially your technical skills.

Prepare yourself for Behavior-Based Interviews.

My interview was 2hrs long with three managers (2 technical and one management).

So prepare yourself, my brother, they are not playing HIER! grin
