Can this stop engine oil shortage ?
You have been using the wrong oil in your car and therefore there is sludge in the engine. Use engine flush to remove the sludge and use the right oil pasted on the cover of the oil cover

I have used the recommended oil and still gets short.
As for the engine flush some one told me it spoils engine

If you use the right oil, good but what is the right oil? Which vehicle brand is yours and what brand of oil have you been using. Engine flush depends on the one you choose to use. Are you talking about abro?

I use Toyota camry 2008
I used 5w30 Toyota oil and when I discovered the oil still gets short I changed to visco 2000 forte oil.
If I am to use engine flush which one do you recommend?
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 8:25am On Mar 25, 2018
Does the 20w50 oil prevent shortage of oil? I believe your car requires 5w20 too. When you wabt to flush, use redex engine flush or johnsen engine flush. I sell the two brands. Abd it is known that Toyota oil is synthetic blend and so should not be classified as full synthetic. Why not get in touch with Gazzuzz to get you Mobil 1 5w20 oil. Using visco 2000 is increased destruction to your engine.

OK thanks I have used mobile 1 5w20 before and I figured it still shorts oil. Can you assure me if I flush and use mobile 1 5w20 it will stop?
And how much is the engine flush ?
The 20w50 doesn't prevent shortage of oil but I figured it shorts less than the Toyota 5w30 I was using.

Lets get this right. How much is the oil shortage per 1000 miles?

and the 5w30, how many months does it last before you top? Find time to get in touch and let us resolve this matter. There is polytron which is the best additive that can stop engine oil shortage.

Oga Scooper, kindly recommend a good oil for both the engine and gear box of Honda Pilot 2004 I just bought.
Thanking you in anticipation bro.
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 3:22am On Apr 15, 2018
Congrats bros and please be good to our cars and our environment. Use the right oil. 5w30 gasoline engines only oil is what you should use. There are many sellers on Nairaland. Dw1 is the Atf recommended as Honda has phased out atfz1 for over 7 years. So if you happen to come across any, swerve to the other lane.

Hi guys,
I drive a big daddy (v6) Whenever I start any trip, I easily do 100-120km/hr at around 2000rpm. However, if I have to slow down to less than 40 km/hr or so, I won’t be hitting my previous 100-120km/hr at the previous rpm levels. Instead, it be hitting 3000rpm at 80km/hr and 4000rpm plus at above 100-120km/hr, making the coolant temperature higher than normal in the distance that I’ve covered. Using the AC at this point is risky because the coolant temperature will eventually overshoot the medium level). But if for any reason during the trip, I have to turn off the ignition (say I parked briefly or just cruising down a slope), then things revert to normal (2000rpm ish at 100-120km/hr). What could be the problem here? Thanks in anticipation guys.

When you are above 100kms, the rpm hovers around 2000, that is too low. On the other hand, the speed scenario of 3000 for 80km/h is ok but you need to tell us if your fan has been permanently fixed to run with the engine.

Thanks for your response.
It is actually above 2000 rpm while above 100km/hr. but not up to 3000 rpm. Only hits 3000rpm ish if I’m above 120km/hr or so. The 80km/hr thingy wouldn’t have bothered me if it starts like that, but it stays at below 2000rpm at that speed *until* I slow down for some minutes (say I approach a speed breaker or check point), and then I have to accelerate again. That’s when it gets to 3000rpm at 80km/hr and 4-5k rpm at 100-120km/hr. At this juncture, if I continue, my coolant temperature (previously at 1/4 level), gets to 1/2 level and stays there, and if I then turn in the AC, it goes higher, tending to overheating levels. This is why I think it’s problematic.

And yea, the fan has been permanently fixed to run with the engine. Wasn’t always that way. Used to be automatic till one bush mecho thought it abnormal and used his unwelcome discretion ‍

Haaa the kazeems were here. But the temperature you said tends to overheating, does it cross the middle or it fluctuates? The reason why I am asking is that if the fan is permanently fitted, the temperature can never get to the middle. It stays below the middle. That means your fan is failing. What oil are you using? If the fan cannot hold down the temperature of the car, then you are using these mineral oils for an engine that requires the best oil.

Which is the best engine, and gear oil to be used for 04 Honda accord, and 05 volvo xc90? Both are tokunbo cars. Thanks in advance.
Re: Transmission Fluids, Getting The Right One For Your Vehicle by sooperrescue(m): 3:59pm On Jun 19, 2018
5w30 engine oil and there are a lot to choose from, Oando and Mobil 1 but volvo requires Castrol and I will suggest Castrol magnatec 5w30 for both cars but buy from a trusted dealer. For the transmission fluids, atfz1 is no longer being produced by Honda, so I suggest you use global synthetic fluids like Pureguard and syngard. They are suitable for both vehicles. They are dexron vi global synthetic fluid. I csn supply syngard to you.

OK, but for the honda, this is what's written on the engine oil cover? And how much is your syngard, and how many litres do I need?

You are right. Honda has their own synthetic blend 5w20 or still use magnatec castrol 5w20. A carton of syngard is ok for both cars

Your car will require 0w40 and with a strong bias for Mobil 1. There are many pros and cons about the locally sold ones because of quality assurance. Please dont make your fan permanent. You will destroy the engine as it will always prevent the engine from arriving at the normal engine temperature. Sludge will take over your engine and even if you use the right oil, it is a waste becsuse the oil is supposed to protect the engine as a coolant, preventing the engine not to go above the operating temperature. Making the fan permanent is not advisable, it is a sign that you want to destroy ur investment.
