For the first time, the office of the Auditor General for the federation was given a fairly good allocation. Over N5billion in all. I commend the national assembly for this. 7 Likes |

OBAGADAFFI: I thought I was the only one that noticed that. Nigerians are the most gullible people on earth. Whatever the lying executive headed by Mohammedu Buhari told them they believe without asking questions. I didn't know The presidency and executive budget in general was increased until I saw this but he cleverly left it but blame those of the National Assembly in his speech. Buhari is a fraud and very deceitful 36 Likes 2 Shares |

adedayoa2: It is a very significant improvement compared to where we are coming from. We couldn't even get N3b last year and now we are a little over N5billion. Not bad if you ask me. |

seunmsg:I see that you are working in the office of the Auditor General of the federation. Now you are happy because you guys got "improved" allocation and you termed it "fair". This is same way Legislators "improve" on theirs, which to them is "fair" but to us is padding. This goes to show that everyone is interested of an improved deal for what affects him directly (or indirectly)... 25 Likes 2 Shares |

kimjongJezebel:Out of curiosity, I actually did as you said, I went back and read through the entire budget signing speech but still couldn't spot where the president complained that the presidency budget was reduced; I could only see examples of strategic capital projects whose budgets were reduced. It's beginning to seem like the act of just raising blank accusations and then proceeding to unleash insults based on a false premise (all for 'likes' and praise) is the latest 'honourable' culture amongst Nigerian youths?... Just in case I'm wrong, I've quoted the entire speech below; can you kindly point out the line where the president said the budget to presidency was cut? @OBAGADAFFI, you could also kindly help your friend to point out the line... SPEECH BY HIS EXCELLENCY, MUHAMMADU BUHARI, PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, AT THE SIGNING INTO LAW, THE 2018 APPROPRIATION BILL, PRESIDENTIAL VILLA, ABUJA, 15 Likes 3 Shares |

TonyeBarcanista: Before nko? But seriously, the office of the Auditor General had been seriously underfunded in the past with the intention of hampering the office from adequately carrying out its constitutional duties. Even the current N5billion is extremely inadequate to audit a federal budget of N9trillion and carry out periodic checks on agencies that are not captured in the federal budget. In most developed countries, the supreme audit institutions usually charge between 1-2% of the national budget figure as audit fees. So in our case, we have a legitimate reason to demand for improve funding in order to be able to carry out in depth audit of the country's finances and help to reduce corruption. In the case of NASS, greediness and corruption is the motivating factor. There is absolutely nothing fair in cutting funding for critical infrastructure and diverting the funds to purchasing of okada, sewing machines, provision of VIP toilets etc. 2 Likes |

obailala: 14. An example of this increase is the budget of the National Assembly itself which has increased by 14.5 billion Naira, from 125 billion Naira to 139.5 billion Naira without any discussion with the Executive. That's your answer there. He shouldn't have just cite that of the national assembly own only, out of fairness he suppose to make known that of the presidency too to balance the equation. Now everybody is attacking and insulting the national assembly and am very pretty sure that increase were not arbitrarily made by the national assembly but in conjunction with the executive. Let look beyond politics . 11 Likes |

enm:Oh okay.. now we are landing there... It's no longer a case of "Buhari lied that presidency budget was reduced"? the narrative is now "Buhari only mentioned a N14.5billion increase in NASS budget, he didn't mention in his letter that some presidency items were increased"... You guys are just funny; is it a crime if you just say the simple truth while you play your opposition? And by the way, did Buhari beg anybody to increase his presidency budget?.... This is like a thief who after a robbery, throws some pack of groundnuts over the fence of the police chief. After being arrested, he's now saying, "but I gave some of the loot to the police so the police should be blamed too." What sort of clownish defense is that? 23 Likes 2 Shares |

obailala: First all the presidency budget was not reduced. And 2, you ask a question and i help provide an answer. Is it a crime to do so? Well how you wish to twist my answer is yours and yours only prerogative but when doing it think of the legacy it will created for those coming after us. If after a robbery and the thief decided to throw some pack over the fence to the police chief and the police chief did nothing about it but take action after the arrest of the thief, is that not damage control? Why didn't he raise alarm when the budget was being debit here and credit here? Do you want me to believe that the presidency have no knowledge of what was happening to the budget in the national assembly? Let assume president Buhari was not aware, why didn't he reject it and return it to them drawing the attention of Nigerian to his worry or complaints? Let assume that for the sake of the economy of the nation he signed the budget, is it fair and just to not make known that of the presidency when he make known that of the national assembly? My brother look closer with a clear eyes, ask the right questions and pertinent ones, defend what is right not just right but moral by so doing this country will be better for it. 13 Likes 1 Share |

enm:The people I quoted claimed Buhari was a fraudulent liar for claiming that presidency budget was reduced whrn in fact, the presidency budget was increased. I simply threw a queztion to them to point out where the president mentioned that presidency budget was reduced. You then responded by saying the president kept quiet about the increase in presidency budget; maybe you should have been more attentive, cos you obviously changed the argument to another issue. The president did not ask the NASS to alter the budget, and the president reserves the right to be disappointed by the NASS for adding over 6000 mushroom useless projects to the budget costing over N800billion even whilst they cut out valuable sums from key capital projects. I see your desperation to also ascribe some blame to the president as is always the case in everything in Nigeria, but that attempt is dead on arrival and laughable. Once again, the president did not ask the NASS to add any kobo to presidency's budget. 12 Likes 2 Shares |
